Today, I would like to dive into a vital topic: Are the supplements you rely on for your health and well-being safe? While we appreciate the benefits they promise, we must tread carefully and ensure we’re not inadvertently exposing ourselves to even more health concerns or toxic compounds.
What Is Happening In the Supplement Industry?
Let’s begin with this crucial question: What is happening in the supplement industry? This question weighs heavily on my heart as I pen these words, driven by a sense of duty to shed light on a matter of paramount importance. As disconcerting as it may sound, I must echo the sentiments shared with me decades ago by a whistleblower within the corridors of Big Pharma.
In the 1990s, I was solemnly informed of a chilling agenda orchestrated by Big Pharma about the strategic plans and acquisition of supplement companies, paving the path for their dominance over both pharmaceuticals and supplements alike. With a heavy heart today, I must affirm that this prophecy has materialized into reality. I write this as a wake-up call and warning to everyone taking and buying supplements.
First, it’s crucial to pause and reflect: Where do you want your hard-earned money to go? Are you comfortable supporting companies solely focused on profit and domination, or would you rather align yourself with those with a vision of purity and genuine healing?
Why Each Company Must Do Their Own Testing
Recently, we received a shipment of organic black walnut hull from a qualified vendor we have been using for years. Since we are so concerned about quality at Global Healing, we take raw materials very seriously and perform three different types of identity testing. We send the product out for third-party analysis, test identity in-house using Near Infrared Spectroscopy, and use a third form of testing using Microscopy and fluorescence. The third-party test confirmed black walnut, and the NIR results confirmed black walnut. When we tested it with microscopy, the material was loaded with maltodextrin. This means about 25% of what we thought was 100% black walnut was 75% black walnut and 25% maltodextrin. And who knows if this was GMO maltodextrin in a certified Organic product. We are noticing more and more of this in our industry, and companies are just not testing their ingredients for toxic fillers and compounds.
More Recent Cases
An FDA analysis has determined that certain dietary supplements labeled as tejocote (Crataegus mexicana) root or Brazil seed are adulterated because they were tested and found to be substituted with yellow oleander (Thevetia peruviana), a poisonous plant native to Mexico and Central America and a toxic substance of concern to public health officials. In other words, the tested products labeled as tejocote or Brazil seed are toxic yellow oleander. https://www.fda.gov/food/alerts-advisories-safety-information/fda-issues-warning-about-certain-supplements-substituted-toxic-yellow-oleander-january-2024
We also just found out that a reputable organic liquid vitamin company contracted their products for production with a supplement contract manufacturer. During the liquid organic vitamin production process, the batch started to foam up. As the foam began building up, one of the production employees grabbed a bottle of DOW chemical anti-foaming agent and poured it into the batch to reduce the foam. This was obviously not listed on the batch production package or the label and would definitely NOT be allowed to be added under certified organic standards. The sad thing is that who would even think about testing the final product for anti-foaming chemical agents?
Steps I Take And Questions I Ask
Supplement Companies are being bought at a record rate, and private equity venture capital companies are gobbling up our industry and, in turn, are buying cheap ingredients from China and contaminating them with fillers.
Before recommending or taking any products, I adhere to a rigorous procedure that I believe is essential for maintaining integrity and ensuring safety. I wholeheartedly hope you and everyone reading this will adopt this approach, as it can potentially cleanse our industry of corruption and deceit. Below are the steps I take and the questions I ask of all vendors, farms, other supplement companies, contract manufacturers, and raw material suppliers:
- Are any of the products or materials you use heated or sterilized, and if so, to what degree and what type of heating or sterilization is used?
- Is the company or anyone on the executive team partially or wholly owned by any outside company? Have you received funding from private equity or venture capital? Is your company tied to larger companies or big pharma in any way? Please provide company ownership details and information on company executives.
- Do any of your products/Ingredients contain or have they been processed with alcohol, gluten, soy, corn, non-organic additives, fillers, binders, preservatives, excipients, flow agents, dairy, flavorings, animal products, or any synthetic compounds? Please provide a verified list indicating that none of the ingredients are in the product, raw material, or single ingredient.
- Are you using multiple forms of identity testing to confirm the raw material is not contaminated with fillers, grasses, maltodextrin, etc.? Please list your identity testing procedures, NIR, FIR, Microscopy, and third party.
- Please provide information as to where ALL ingredients are sourced. Are they organically certified or wild-crafted? Please provide a list of all ingredients in the product and what country they are sourced from. Note: We are not asking for proprietary information on your vendor, just the country of origin.
- Provide documentation that all ingredients and/or products are non-GMO with appropriate testing documentation.
- Please provide a CoA and spec sheet of each ingredient in the product, including heavy metal testing, ID, and microbial testing.
- Is your company NSF-certified? If so, did you know you are radiating and killing the life force of the raw materials and products with your metal detection system?
- Is your company third-party cGMP certified?
- What type of water does the manufacturing facility use?
- What type and brand of cleaning products does the manufacturer use to clean equipment?
- Are your raw materials stored in a climate-controlled warehouse? At what temperature?
Inactive Ingredients – What You Must Know!
Now, I want to talk about something often overlooked but incredibly important: inactive ingredients. Often, consumers assume that inactive ingredients are inert. But, even though they may sound harmless, they can pack quite a punch when it comes to potential toxicity, not to mention from where they are sourced. Most people don’t know that inactive ingredients aren’t legally required to be listed on the label! Below is why you should be concerned:
- Allergens: Some inactive ingredients, like certain dyes or preservatives, can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. These reactions can range from mild discomfort to severe allergic responses.
- Sensitivities: Even if you’re not allergic to a particular ingredient, you might still be sensitive to it. For example, artificial flavors, natural flavors, or sweeteners could cause digestive issues or headaches in some people.
- Toxicity: Inactive ingredients aren’t always inert. Some may contain harmful substances like heavy metals, microplastics, or chemical solvents, which can accumulate in the body over time and lead to health concerns.
- Interaction: Inactive ingredients can sometimes interact with active ingredients or other medications you’re taking, altering their effectiveness or causing unexpected side effects.
- Bioavailability: Inactive ingredients can affect how a product is absorbed and metabolized in the body. This can impact its overall efficacy and safety.
If you have any concerns or known sensitivities, don’t hesitate to contact the manufacturer for clarification or look for alternative products with cleaner formulations. Your health and well-being are worth prioritizing, even concerning those seemingly minor details like inactive ingredients.
Requiring Clean and Effective Ingredients – It’s Up To You!
These are the strict requirements we at Global Healing use when searching for the cleanest and most effective ingredients for all Global Healing supplements. It’s our desire that our customers know and understand this before making their supplement choices. Friends, we are the only company taking the time to go to these lengths to protect you, the consumer. And to us, this should be the focus of the entire supplement industry. Truth, loyalty, and honesty in every step.
Consider this: every dollar you spend is a vote for the kind of world you want to live in. Do you want to contribute to the relentless pursuit of power, and control, or do you wish to support companies prioritizing integrity, sustainability, and the greater good?
A Call to Action
None of what I write today is mere conjecture or conspiracy theory; it is a stark reality that demands our attention. The consolidation of power within the hands of a few conglomerates threatens the very essence of consumer choice and safety. It is a wake-up call—a clarion call to action for all who seek to safeguard their health and autonomy.
I implore each of you to heed this warning and proceed with vigilance. A massive portion of supplements consumed today, once symbolic of purity and vitality, now stand at the crossroads of profit-driven agendas and genuine wellness.
Remember that knowledge is our most potent weapon in this battle for transparency and integrity. Educate yourselves, inquire about the origins of your supplements, scrutinize labels with a discerning eye, and demand accountability from manufacturers, supplement companies, and doctors and practitioners who sell supplements from their offices.
Most of all, let’s not yield to complacency or resignation in the face of these challenges. Instead, let us unite in our quest for truth, honesty, and empowerment. By consciously choosing to support companies with noble visions and ethical practices, we can collectively steer the course toward a more compassionate and harmonious world. Let your purchasing decisions reflect your values, and together, we can make a meaningful difference in shaping the future we aspire to see.

Can you recommend a company for safe supplements?

Thank you. This is all very, very concerning. While you dive deep into the questions that should be asked (and answered) most ordinary people do not have the knowledge or experience to even ASK the questions about the supplements they take. I take a significant number of supplements daily that I believe are from a very reputable company that grows almost all of its herbs and certifies ‘foreign’ ingredients as being organic, clean, vegan, free of impurities, etc. A couple of mineral supplements I take are from drugstore shevles- not store brand but what ‘appear’ to be higher quality than the norm. The ingredients are minimal. Now I’m concerned that I am ingesting fouled products- such as you describe with your black walnut snafu.
Are you suggesting we should send a list of those questions above to our vendors to determine whether or not we continue to use their products?
This is a kind of comment/question and maybe I missed something in the body of your article but…I am baffled as to what ordinary people can do to protect themselves?
Oh my goodness! I knew better than to buy supplements from Walgreens or Walmart. But now I think the Vitacost brand I have been using the past 10 years has made my health worse instead of better. Many years ago I used to be on a whole food supplement but switched just to save money after reading many positive reviews and recommendations. If I could turn back time…. One site to check your supplements with could be the Non-GMO Project: https://www.nongmoproject.org/find-non-gmo/?cats=12. Their stamp is on quite a few bottles.
