One of the things new users of essential oils ask most frequently is “What do I do with them? I just bought three new bottles and I have no idea how to use essential oils, other than take the caps off and sniff them.” If you fall into this category, this article will offer some great tips on how to use essential oils as part of your healing practice and general health improvement.
Phytochemicals: the Healing Compound in Essential Oils
It is interesting to learn that the very thing that gives an essential oil its characteristic smell is also what provides that oil with its healing ability. There can be hundreds of phytochemicals (plant based chemicals) within each drop of essential oil. Science is just beginning to learn exactly how each phytochemical works in the human body. Having said that, there is still much we do not know!
These phytochemicals have funny names like terpenes, aldehydes, esters, ketones, phenols, oxides, sesquiterpenes, and many more. Each one works differently in the body.
For instance, ketones (found in lavender essential oil, patchouli, hyssop) stimulate cell regeneration, liquefy mucous, and have calming properties.
Aldehydes (found in lemongrass essential oil, melissa, and citronella) tend to be highly anti-viral and anti-inflammatory.
Sesquiterpenes (found in cedarwood, sandalwood, and German chamomile, to name a few) are known for reversing inflammation. Sesquiterpenes are also one of the only substances that can cross the protective blood-brain barrier and increase oxygen to the brain. They can also reverse DNA damage and delete it from cellular memory. As a result, essential oils that contain sesquiterpenes could be quite beneficial for cancer patients.
Essential Oil Quality Varies
The phytochemical make-up of an oil can vary from plant to plant, even on the same farm. Growing conditions, harvesting methods, and even the time of day that the plant is harvested can have an effect on the phytochemical content of an oil. For instance, ylang ylang flowers are best collected between midnight and 9:00 am in the morning. That is when the essential oil content in the flowers is at its highest and best.
So why am I sharing all of this with you? Not only because it’s interesting, but also to underscore the need to ensure that your essential oils, particularly if you are using them for regaining your health, come from a reputable company.
Make sure the essential oils you purchase are organically grown. Be sure that the company knows how to properly distill each of the oils they sell, and that they do not use chemicals during the extraction process. A good essential oil company will also check each essential oil batch using gas chromatography to ensure that each batch has the proper phytochemical constituents. Don’t just rely on a label that says “pure.” These days, that just isn’t good enough.
12 Great Ways to Use Essential Oils
#1. Bottle Inhalation Method – Begin by holding the essential oil bottle about the level of your heart. Waft the bottle a little, moving it ever closer to your nose. Deeply breathe in the aroma, gently at first. If you like it and it seems appropriate, breathe more deeply. When you breathe in an essential oil through the nose, the tiny oil molecules (the vapor) contain all of the same properties that the oil contains. They interact with the olfactory organ and the brain. Oil molecules inhaled through nose or mouth also move into the lungs and interact with the lungs and respiratory system.
#2. Hand Inhalation Method – Drip a few drops of essential oil onto your palms, rub them together to activate the oil, and cup them over the mouth and nose. As with the Bottle Inhalation Method, breathe gently at first and then if it seems appropriate, breathe the oil in deeply − as if you were dragging the oil up over your brain. Be sure to leave your eyes out of this as essential oils do not belong anywhere near the eyes. (Warning: If you do happen to accidentally get an essential oil into your eyes, dilute immediately with a carrier oil like sweet almond or olive, never water. It will burn like crazy but will ease in a few minutes.)
#3. Terracotta Pendant Method – Put a drop of oil on a terracotta pendant, fasten it around your neck, and enjoy the benefits of that oil as you move through your day.
#4. Bedtime Salt Bowl Method – Place a small amount (about 1/4 cup) of sea salt flakes or Epsom salt in a small bowl. Drip 10-15 drops of your chosen essential oil onto the salt. Keep it by your bed. The salt helps to slow down the evaporation rate of the oils, allowing you a longer diffusion throughout the night. A great way to get some anti-cancer potential into you while you sleep.
#5. Steam Bowl Inhalation – Drip your chosen essential oil into a bowl of steaming water (please use filtered so that no chlorine is also inhaled). Place a towel over your head and over the bowl of water and breathe in deeply (be careful if the water was boiled, the steam can be hot enough to burn). Please keep your eyes closed when using this method or use swimming goggles to protect your eyes. The steam quickly vaporizes the oil and it is rapidly absorbed into the throat, sinuses, and then bloodstream. This method is a very direct and potent method. Do not use any more than 1-2 drops of essential oil, or you may find it overwhelming. Please note that heating oils can diminish the therapeutic value of the oil so do not use this method exclusively if you are fighting cancer.
#6. Ultrasonic Diffusing – An ultrasonic diffuser uses air, water, and ultrasonic vibrations to diffuse the oil into the air. A fine mist is created and released into the air, so it doubles as a humidifier. The concentration of essential oils is gentler since water is used. This method allows the oil molecules to remain air-bound for several hours and does not affect the structure or therapeutic value of the oil. You can use several oils together, for instance frankincense and sandalwood. Two or more oils are better than one, because the phytochemicals in each oil offer different healing properties.
#7. Car Diffuser – Many companies now make car diffusers for their essential oils. Imagine getting a great smelling anti-cancer treatment right in the safety of your car as you drive to work or while running errands! Don’t have a diffuser? Don’t worry − just get a cotton ball, drip a few drops of your chosen oil onto it, stick it in the air vent, turn on the vent and enjoy.
#8. Essential Oil Massage – There are a couple of ways to go about this. You can massage the essential oils into your body, neat, meaning without dilution. Be sure to have some guidance from your practitioner about which ones may require dilution. You can also dilute essential oils by adding a natural carrier oil (organic wherever possible) such as sweet almond or coconut oil, or even olive oil. Apply the diluted essential oils to skin areas with gentle massage strokes. As a guideline, you can make a 1% concentration, which equals one drop of essential oil to one teaspoon of carrier oil. A 2% dilution would be two drops of essential oil to one teaspoon of carrier oil. Be sure to consult a practitioner when using essential oils for children, as they require much weaker dilutions than do adults.
#9. The Foot Absorption Method – Massage a few drops of your chosen essential oils into the bottoms (the soles) of your feet before you go to bed. The soles of the feet contain some of the largest pores in the body. Therefore, the oils are easily absorbed and working in your bloodstream within just a few minutes.
#10. Oral Ingestion – Unless you are working under the guidance of a certified health practitioner, it is not suggested that you take an essential oil internally. It is not that taking oils internally is necessarily a bad or dangerous thing, but you do need some guidance as to which oils are safe to take internally, how much to use, and how frequently.
#11. Essential Oil Bath – Drip your chosen essential oils into a warm (not hot) bath. Use a few tablespoons of a dispersant like full cream milk or coconut oil which will assist in the absorption of the oils through your skin. Then just step into the bath and soak. Not only are you absorbing the oils, but also directly inhaling them at the same time. This is also a great way to finish off those bottles of essential oils that just have a drop or two left in them − just drop the entire bottle into your bath.
#12. Instead of Perfume – Rather than using man-made (and potentially toxic) perfumes, combine your favorite essential oils and wear them on your pulse points, behind your ears, on your collarbone, and on both sides of your neck. Not only will you smell fabulous, you are bringing the phytochemicals in those oils right into your body.
As you can see, there are many ways to use essential oils. Don’t be afraid to try new methods. The important thing is to begin, and to use them every day… because they can’t help you improve your health if they stay in the bottle!

Do you have recommendations on online retailers to purchase these oils from?
Sean, I proudly (and after extensive quality comparisons) represent DoTERRA essential oils and would be happy to email you a link for retail purchase online. LMK 🙂
I use DoTerra – really good quality!
Hi Nicole! I saw your comment and hope you won’t mind sending me a link to DoTERRA. maryjanemoore@sbcglobal.net Thanks so much!
Best choice for oils is Rocky Mountain Oils.
They will provide the testing upon request.
I also use RMO. Compared it to Mt. Rose Herb’s and RMO was way better. I’m so glad they are transparent and give test results.
It is important that everyone personally visit their farms and see their distillation process first hand.
I personally use Young Living. I wouldn’t recommend the oils sold at store level as these have been shown to have artificial additives and fragrance. Do your research!
I use MERICLE ESSENTUAL OILS,, WOULD NOT BE WITHOUT THEM,,CHECK IT OUT!!!!
I completely agree with you, M. I only trust Young Living oils as they are the only company that owns its own farms and closely monitors them as well as their partner farms. There are Zero chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides used and no chemicals used for extracting the essential oils. Please contact me if you’d like to know more.
Yes please Patricia
Hi Patricia..could you please send info on ordering wholesale amounts of essential oils from Young Living..I’m in Canada. ( I could have it sent to U.S. address if that would be appreciably less expensive, but it’s a bit of a nuisance. ) Thank you for your time. Catherine
Hi Catherine. I use Young Living Oils and live in Ontario. Check out this website that has great info about YL oils and how to sign up. http://www.lettucechange.com/#!essential-oils/cuf5
I trust Young Living Essential Oils implicitly. Their Seed to Seal quality control measures are unmatched. They’re so great!
As a Certified Aromatherapist, I want all of you to know some basic information concerning the “confusion” associated with essential oil purity and cost. Please read! There are TWO types or categories of oils and companies that produce those categories! 95% of the companies produce oils at very high temps killing the beneficial health properties but leaving a wonderful fragrance, they are quick to produce and the the companies producing these oils are concerned about the fragrance of the oil NOT the health benefit of the oil. These are cheap oils that are used in our shampoos, soaps, perfumes and are sold everywhere including the internet and retail stores. Fragrance Oils are 100% pure (some of them) but the QUALITY is not for body use. I am Certified through CARE for body applications. 100% pure on the label means nothing – but QUALITY means everything. The Second Category are for health benefits. These oils are processed completely differently to preserve the health benefit of the oil – at low temps and takes much longer to produce, not all of the oil is able to be distilled out, only about 70% at that temp. THIS MAKES the oils more costly but extremely beneficial for the body. Now, the sales vehicle, ie direct sales or store front retail does NOT and I repeat, does NOT, determine the cost of the oil. The QUALITY of the oils determines the cost. All companies that produce oils for health benefits (only about 5% in the world), the cost is going to be similar regardless of the “sales vehicle” they chose to market their product. I do webinars and teach classes so that people can understand and not be mislead by “well meaning” people that are uneducated in the world of EO’s.
Mrs. Gordon, so which companies sell the good oils and where can we purchase them?
Please educate yourself on recent reports of adulterated oils. Don’t believe the lies that your diamond leaders are sharing with you. Some YL oils passed but others failed miserably!
Nature’s Sunshine has a great line of organically grown oils along with a company called Vitality Works.
Sean, I also chose doterra over other brands due to their third party testing. Several oils from other companies just came back with up to 56% synthetics in them! Every doterra oil has passes the purity and quality testing. Also, Dr. Axe who is a huge oil user and talks on this series uses doterra. Just do your research thoroughly and don’t read all the hype and drama online.
Personally visit their farms and view their distillation process.
I have found that essential oils of excellent quality are also found online and are not limited to direct sales companies. Two real good quality essential oil companies are Healing Solutions and Plant Therapy. Their prices are very competitive and can be purchased on Amazon.
Personally visit their farms & view their distillation process first hand.
Mountain Rose Herbs is an extremely affordable way to go and they are a very small but trusted company my herbal program recommends. The top herbalists recommend them along with Catskill Herbs.
DoTerra and YL are a good quality but you’ll be paying for the pyramid!
Personally visit their farms & view their distillation process first hand.
Please do your homework.:
* Pyramid’s are illegal in our country.
* MLM’s only take the advertising dollars they don’t spend and share it with those who are caring and sharing with others.
Every company is structured like a pyramid. Do your research. Young Living owns all of their own farms. If an oil goes out of stock, that’s it. We have to wait till more is grown or until the season is here. Just because distributors make money doesn’t cheapen the quality . Actually ours is far superior than others.
I buy from Plant Therapy, planttherapy.com. They are good quality oils and you won’t pay they high prices that DoTerra and Young Living have because you are buying direct from them, not dealing with a consultant. They also have a lot of good information on their blog on how to use the oils safely.
Personally visit their farms and view their distillation process.
I use young living as well!
aromatics.com has excellent oils – pure…and GC/MS report is available online that shows the chemical breakdown, what country the oils come from and the harvest date so you can monitor the shelf life. Keep them cold (fridge is fine), in dark glass containers and lids on tight to slow oxidation.
Personally visit their farms and view their distillation process first hand.
Please always do your homework!! Restored Health is a fabulous company for oils. http://www.RestoredHealthAZ.com. There are many oils and herbs available. I have worked with several cancer survivors! Each month I teach classes on safety and uses of oils and herbs. Call me or email me with questions.
Carol, what kind of oils would you recommend for Melanoma cancer in the lymph nodes? They extracted 5 nodes but I want to do everything I can to prevent it from coming back. TY,
youngliving.com is the company I get my essential oils from. They are fantastic and I;ve been using them for 6 months now with great results. Never felt better.
I have used many brands, some claiming they are the very best while putting down every other company that sells essential oils (even when their oils fail random third party testing). I have found that Plant Therapy has the best oils for me and my family, a very extensive line of child-safe oils, and they are staffed by certified aromatherapists that can help you with all your questions. Robert Tisserand works closely with the company, and he wrote the book on EO safety. Shipping is almost always free and the order arrives within 2-3 days! They post the GC/MS results of their third party testing online for every oil they sell and offer important information regarding safety and dilution. Oh, and their prices aren’t inflated because they are not a MLM-based company 🙂 wOw, why would you trust the advice of a rep who is not certified and just wants to make a sale?
Your comments indicate that you do not understand the EO marketplace or the blessings of the MLM industry.

Could you offer recommendations of companies? This question is for Debbie Gordon.
I’m also a DoTerra Wellness Consultant. The reason I chose DoTerra is 1) their oils are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. 2)Unlike many other oils sold in stores, many of the DoTerra oils are supplements that can be taken internally. 3) They constantly test for quality. 4)They use Co-Impact Sourcing with Helping Hands which means that they are actually helping the communities around the world where the plant matter is harvested.
Sean I use Bulk Apothecary
Thank you, Marnie, for an important, well-written article.
Does anyone have experience MYCOSIS FUNGOIDES cure disease?
I would like to know the same.
Moshe and Bernie, please help yourself by changing your diet first. Have you listened to the videos on The Truth About Cancer? They all talk about how to eat and some healthy supplements like Vit. C and D3. Then you can use a good quality Frankincense, Turmeric essential oil. Also eat garlic!! If you have questions please email me at CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com
Hi Carol, I am looking for a Frankinsence oil since I have breast cancer. Can you tell me were to buy from a trusworthy website? Thanks Rita
Hi Rita, like Carol Nelson said, diet is key to health. If you have time you may want to look into The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies or find an Ayurvedic doctor. However, I use DoTerra Frankinsence Oil. Despite what one of the other posts said about MLM, our company has on staff 6 MDs, 2 PhDs in nutrition, a DO, a PhD in chemistry, and an MsC. Many of our consultants are also HHPs.
Thank you for the article. We use Young Living because they are overseeing from planting all the way through. I even looked and used other brands and could tell they weren’t pure. Love this information!
except they were recently found to have adulterated oils, so looks like their process needs some work.
You may want to look into it, only a few years ago, they owned only 10% of their crops. Not bashing just FYI.
Sean I use Ameo oils. I have found then to be the purest and highest quality on the market. Message me with your email and I’ll send you a video about them and you can see what you think. The company is Zija international.
Put a few drops of your favorite essential oils- like eucalyptus and lavender, on a cotton ball and suck it up with the vacuum cleaner before you vacuum. Your home will smell like a health spa! Also, oil infused cotton balls placed in a jar with a ribbon makes a great gift! 🙂
Thank you for the great information on proper use of essential oils. We have lavender blooming in our garden and every morning I rub a flower on my upper lip and enjoy the fragrance. I will be trying some of the other methods from your article.
Thank you,Marnie for very good article!
That sounds wonderful, Terri! I’m going to try it, thanks for the tip!
I like your suggestion for the vacuum!
Great post, especially the bit on the phtyochemicals and needing a gas chromatography report to determine the ratios of compounds within a particular oil to determine efficacy for conditions. I also enjoyed the breakdown of the different application methods.
However, the bit about massaging and applying oils to the skin neat is dangerous. Even if there is not an acute reaction or immediate sensitization to an oil, a chronic reaction can occur and contribute to liver and kidney damage. Some of the phytochemicals in volatile oils cannot be broken down as quickly as gentler, milder compounds like alcohols or terpenes, so they sit in the body and subject our “filter” organs to prolonged exposure that can lead to damage and toxicity. This exposure can also lead to cellular damage, and the potential to cause cancer instead of preventing it. Appropriate dilution and precise ratios for particular oils should be maintained at all times to limit this kind of damage to the body. Moreover, when diluting an essential oil, the carrier oil becomes a sort of “adhesive” that seals the oil to the skin, which prolongs proper exposure to the oil. Applying essential oils neat subjects them to skin that is over 90 degrees and that promotes evaporation of the oil. A carrier oil acts as a “catch” to keep the oil on the skin longer, thereby allowing the individual to slow transdermal exposure over time. Of the five oils listed in this article, only one can be applied neat. The others should always be diluted. In fact, the only oils overall that can be applied to the skin neat without sensitization (and this does not apply to ALL individuals and is not generally recommended by aromatherapists) are lavender (particularly for burns and bug bites), sweet orange (for bug bites and inflammation), and, in SOME cases, tea tree (for blemishes, warts, and “drawing”). All other oils should be diluted to introduce the oils through a milder and more gentle medium that does not harm our skin and organs. Additionally, these oils should NEVER be used on children under the age of five without guidance from a professional aromatherapist. Lavender and Sweet Orange have been deemed acceptable for children under that age, but diluted and in extremely small ratios, as children are more sensitive to exposure due to ongoing development. A 1% dilution is recommended for kids age 2-5 for Lavender and Sweet Orange, both of which assist with wound care, anxiety, insomnia, cognitive issues, and inhibiting cancer! Also note that some of these oils are contraindicated for pregnant women, people with immune deficient conditions, the elderly, and individuals taking certain prescriptions due to potential adverse drug reactions (lavender can actually increase the potency of barbiturates).
The rampant use of essential oils without any kind of education regarding their components and what they do is alarming. Just because a bottle says that an oil will help with a particular issue, that doesn’t mean that the application methods recommended, or even the actions alleged, are accurate. We are putting this stuff on our bodies. We are ingesting it. Do we read labels for the food we are going to eat? Shouldn’t we do the same with essential oils? If we are looking to maintain proper health, having a clue about what we put on and in our bodies is a big part of that. I highly encourage people to use essential oils because they are a beautiful gift from nature, but knowing how to use them properly is paramount. Take a course. Do your health research. Then, enjoy!!
Love this idea.
Sean, Aromatics International sells essential oils that they purchase direct from distillers. They provide all the Gas Chromatography reports for every batch. Their website is incredible as you can search on the chemical component, for example sesquiterpenes. Website is aromatics.com I purchase from them myself!
I have never been let down by Aura Cacia, however, they do not recommend ingestion only topical use and then with a good carrier oil or as aromatherapy. I have used essentials for over 20 years.
If you can not put it in you do not out it on you.
Thank you for the article. You may be interested to know that according to Essential Oils expert and author of Essential Oil Safety, Robert Tissarand, essential oils are not actually absorbed through the pores of the skin, but mostly via the lipid matrix between the skin cells. Check out his you tube videos – very informative! However, you can still benefit from putting essential oils on your feet, but it’s a good idea to apply a carrier oil first to reduce the risk of a reaction especially for “hot” essential oils such as cinnamon and oregano.
I like so many others use a CPAP machine every night. I fill the water chamber of the machine with distilled water and then put 5-7 drops of my favorite essential oils in the water. I do not turn on the the heating element because this makes the oils to overpowering to the nose. My favorite is 6 drops of peppermint oil and 3 drops of frankincense. This is a very soothing combination and makes me sleep like a baby.
Robert, I also use a CPAP machine on most nights to sleep. Do you suffer from insomnia as well? Do you use the same oils, or do you use lavender oil for insomnia?
this is a vary good article I had just got some of these oils and I didn’t really know how to use them Thank you vary much.
Essential oils do not have to come from a “company.” In fact, there are few, if any companies, especially the MLM ones, that are trustworthy. I get my oils from an herbalist who has visited and knows her sources and her attention to quality is second-to-none. We have seen amazing results with her oils. I wear some of them as a perfume and not only get compliments regularly, but also have people tell me they are normally allergic to fragrances (including some MLM oils), but are not bothered at all by what I am using. Truly good, pure, quality oils have amazing healing properties. Know your source and make sure your source knows their sources!
After spending close to 100 hours researching all of the companies, I found doTERRA to be the best. If you are interested in learning more about them, please feel free to give my Facebook page a like.
Anyone ever use Mountain Rose Herbs? They had a lot of good reviews
Sean, I agree with Nicole. We too have done our research and have found that the doTERRA line of essential oils to be the best, purest essential oils and the purity is CERTIFIED by independent third party laboratory. No one else comes close to the testing and purity of doTERRA’s oils.
I have recently started using Young Living Oils. Really love them and they are as pure as they could be.
Donna
Donna please look into recent testing showing synthetic additives in young living oils. I would be happy to send you some links if you need them.
Donna don’t believe these false accusations. Be sure to contact Young Living as well.
Betty, it was proved by three different labs. Synthetics were found. Plus just a few years ago, yl only owned 10% of their crops. You might want to check into it for your safety.
The best essential oils that I have used and most economical (not a MLM company) are from AV-AT.com. I have used their products for years. I even buy some EO’s that I use to make DIY household cleaners and disinfectants at the health food stores when they are on sale and they seem to be perfectly fine.
I am using frankincense and myrrh essential oils to ward off cervical cancer. I make a suppository from coconut oil and 15 drops of either oil. Pour it into an ice cube tray (one for long cubes) and freeze. I then break them in thirds and use one nightly. Keep them frozen, until ready to use. I’ve been switching oils every 3 weeks, so the cancer cells won’t become immuned to them.
I found the Youngevity brand of essential oils to be brilliant. Youngevity also have excellent books available and each bottle sold gets information on it’s best use.
Thank you so much Ty for all of your good information. We need more people to help. I’d like someone to start this about Lyme Disease. That is greatly needed.
I agree! Recently diagnosed and so much to learn!!
Thanks for the article, very informative. I am not very versed in oils, but I do ingest lemon and peppermint daily. They give your water a great taste.
Thanks. Enjoy the reading and great suggestion.
VAPE essential oils like Frankincense, Rosemary, Thyme: 12ml organic vegetable glycerin, 2ml Frankincense Essential Oil, 1ml Rosemary Essential oil, 7-10 drops Thyme Essential Oil. GREAT for respiratory infections. Brain Healing and Health (Rosemary especially). Vape in morning and evening or more for conditions like chronic bronchial infections.
What stores in Canada can you get Young Living essential oils? Could using those essential oils be good on people who do not have cancer at all? I am curious in trying them. I would love to try the Young Living frankincense oil?
You can get Young Living Essential Oils in Canada just go online and contact the company they will assist you. I use YLEOS for supporting and maintain a healthy body and lifestyle. Frankincense oil one of the oils I always have and use.
Silvia,
You don’t have to have cancer to get healthful results from using oils. I have bought Young Living oils, but am going to look into Edens Garden oils. They cost less.
Sandi I have found Edens Garden oils to be very therapeutic. They are as high quality as Young Living and doTerra, and any other company I have ever tried.
Typically they aren’t available in stores. There are distributors all over that can help you, though.
Hi Sylvia, if you go to YoungLiving.com/signup to order products or YoungLiving.com/en_CA for more info as it is mostly an online business although there are some small businesses that sell the essential oils retail. If you sign up you pay the wholesale price.
Hi! On line there is a free phone number to order it. At first they didn’t have it in Canada and if so they get the products in Calgary and you pay for two deliveries. I have a friend in Bellingham, WA, and got it delivered there. It was fast even paying the less expensive courrier and the oil has a complete different smell than the oneI bought here. I trust Young Living. Best regards, Marga

Betty….I tried this link but it doesn’t work
Correct website address:
http://betty.gary.walczak.vibrantscents.com
I live inToronto and Young Living shipped Frankinsence oil to me from Calgary.
I have Breast Cancer ,, I actually have been using Frankincense on my breast tumors, and the tumors do shrink and soften,,
I am a certified natural pet health consultant , and that is what is recommended for tumors on dogs,,
I tried it on me and WOW it really works
I am amazed , my cancer has metastasized to my back bone,, i started putting it down my back as well,
Hi Nancy, i am happy for you …how do you put the. Frankincense on your breast..as drops with a mixture with oil?..and how many drops ..per day?…what else do you take?….what are the brand of EO….you have?….thanks when you have time…
I use spark naturals. I love them. Has anyone tried them?
I read a review that said Spark EO’s failed purity tests but I’ve never personally tried them.
I got hooked and now a distributor for Young Living essential oils, the best ones out there…really love my oils! I make an all natural deodorant from combining 8 drops lavendar oil, 2 drops lemon oil, 4 TB coconut oil, 4 TB corn starch, 4 TB baking soda. It really works! B.O. is actually bacteria mixed with sweat. you are shower fresh and dry all day (and I live in humid Florida!).
I have used Young Living Essential Oil since 1994…..the purest oils on the market – Dr. Gary Young and his company have become renowned world wide. It was 22 years ago my family teased me about my ‘snake oil’ investment – I bought the entire kit (96 bottles)! Almost broke the bank yet best investment ever!! His company offers a PDR (so to speak) for his oils and products. It’s my go-to reference book.
so of the many brands listed above..DoTerra,Young Living, Ameo, Restored Health, how do I know which one to order and what do you look for in researching the companies/brands?? How also do you learn which oils to use and what combinations, etc. Who is qualified to help guide you in their usage?
It is hard to know!! Everything on the internet is so frustrating. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there. I’m sorry about this. Every company tells you they have the best. Sorry but no company has the best of everything. It just cannot happen:( The weather, the farmer, the way the plants are maintained all have influence on how good of quality the oils will be from the plants. Personally I get the best I know of. Some companies also get oils with adulterants in them.
If you have questions please let me know. CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com. I’ve been teaching monthly classes on how to use oils and herbs, safety (a very important topic for me because most don’t know much about safety!) and which oils and herbs are best for your health concerns for over 8 years.
I am not frustrated with the information on the Internet since I have personally visited the farms and viewed the distillation process. There is only one company I trust with my health and the health of my clients and that is Young Living. I am a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor with specialized studies in the Clinical use of Essential Oils.
You can contact me, order and/or receive my Young Living essential oils e-newsletter at my website.: http://betty.gary.walczak.vibrantscents.com
Butterfly Express oils are super good too. They are pure, theraputic quality, and at very reasonable prices, since you buy directly from them (you can get them online) instead of through multilevel marketing.
Loved the article! Thanks. 🙂 I am a big fan of buying in bulk and essential oils are no exception. Do your own research about the origin of each oil for it’s quality. Find a wholesale supplier with a good reputation and buy with your friend/s. Australia has loads of good suppliers. I would not buy anything smaller than 100ml at a time. You save HUNDREDS of dollars this way. Buy a bunch of smaller glass bottles (15ml or so) with dripper caps and mix your own for all your needs, including travelling. Makes for a nice gift too.
@A Chambers can you recommend a list of Australian suppliers. How can you determine whether they are reputable and pure and organic?
Hi .im in Melbourne
Do you recommend any brands that are organic and high quality for ingestion also?
Thankyou
Ingrid
Where do you go to buy in bulk? Do you have a web link for this?
Which wholesaler would you recommend purchasing in bulk from?
Excellent advice! Any websites you could share where to order the essential oils in 100ml and the 15 ml bottles? Thank you so much!
Thanks for the article. Very informative.
Is it OK to use essential oils like body cream by having a few drops on palms and rubbing on the screen?
Please advise. Thanks.
Yes BAO!! If you want to use them in a good quality skin cream you can use a couple of drops and rub in. Please..less is better with essential oils. Good question:)
Sorry, I meant to write skin instead of screen.
Super super wonderful…tralalala…youpi..thank you….bisous…to all your family…
I use Maternal Earth essential oils. Their product Majik Carpet Ride is amazing for relaxation and rejuvenating. I use the hand inhale method mostly.
Love DoTerra Essential Oils ????
2% titree (Manuka) uil is a safe underarm deodorant. Fill an empty dispenser – some tops unscrew. Try Mum.
Hi Patricia; Could you send me the link to Young Living Oils. Thank you. jc.lovetoride@gmail.com
Awesome article. I am also a user and wellness advocate of doterra oils and happy to provide further information to anyone if necessary x
Thanks for the information about essential oils. My question is: Which oils would be basic to use? Then, would you add others if you get a cold, etc., or do you take a combination of all? Or, would you take some in the a.m. and others in the p.m.? I would appreciate your guidance.
Babby, every health issue is different. So when you have an issue you can use the essential oils differently. If you are starting to get a cold you could use Eucalyptus radiata on your feet or around your nose (you can dilute with a carrier oil which is coconut oil, sesame oil, grapeseed oil, extra virgin olive oil). If you are having an issue with joints you would rub it right on the joint. If you have a diffuser you can also use that in an open room, please don’t close the door as it will be too much in the air for you. Let me know if you have other questions. CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com. I’m very big into safety too!
I use essential oils instead anti-pespirant deodorant
Can essential oils contribute to dental hygiene and help us avoid cavities? I have a major dental cavity that either needs a root canal or have the tooth extracted. Since I don’t do root canals, and before I have the tooth extracted, I am considering if there is some way that I can reverse the cavity that is next to the nerve and could inflame any day now.
Jeff, I’d oil pull with coconut oil and tea tree essential oil. That has been shown to help reverse decay! Google oil pulling and it will tell you how to do it. Good Luck!!
Oil pulling with coconut oil and Thieves EO will address the oral issue however you should also be on a cleansing diet to get to the root of the problem, no pun intended.
Bear in mind that the best oils come from plants grown where they would grow naturally, so having all your farms in the US isn’t necessarily a recommendation.
I would not go with doTerra.
They say they do GC/MS testing but will not provide reports to consumers who understand how to read them.
Any company that will not provide them upon request, is someone you should not trust.
Which company gave you the report for their GC/MS testing?
Young Living doesn’t provide any results either. Both do in house testing which is a huge red flag to me and many others.
I would not use doterra either because I know their background. However your blanket statement re testing indicates that you are either new to or do not understand this industry. Do your research.
The average person would have no idea what a GCMS test meant anyway. And many companies who give their testing out to the public just have 1 test and use it over and over. You have no way of knowing if that test is for that batch. Providing the GCMS tests is ONLY a marketing scheme.
Correct… Must visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
I have personally been to one of the Young Living farms, seen the entire distillation process, spoken with the workers and scientists as well as the founder, Gary Young, himself. I do believe there are other quality companies, but no other that I know of welcomes you to their farms even to participate in the planting and harvesting. I am also an aromatherapist working on my full clinical certification. There is more to aromatherapy than just oils. I use the oils from Young Living, but a couple small companies have beautiful hydrosols and flower essences that I use. Research, research, research what you use, because you don’t want to inadvertently make your condition worse. Blessings to each person who reads this on your journey to health!
I have been looking for research articles about using Frankinsence oil in the treatment of an Acoustic Neuroma. in the TTAC video series, Frankinsence was mentioned as one substance used in the teatment of a brain tumor. Acoustic Neuroma is not cancerous, however I would love to find research and information on how to use Frankinsence and other natural ways to reduce this kind of tumor. I live outside of the U.S. Many thanks for information, research sites shared!

Has anyone tried the GoDesena oils, wonderful pure organic oils, I started using them 3 years ago. 2 weeks ago I started using age delay all organic cleanser, age delay toner, beauty serum, & age delay Rose moisturizing cream awesome.
I couldn’t find any confirmation that Young Living’s oils are organic. Do you have verification of this?
They are 100% organic or wild crafted but more importantly is that all of their farms started with Virgin Soil with silt 3-5 feet thick. Most organic growers are growing in USDA organic farms that were previously conventional growers.

Please educate yourself on recent reports of adulterated oils by Young living. Don’t believe the lies that your diamond leaders are sharing with you. Some YL oils passed but others failed miserably!
You are sharing false information. There are no YL diamond leaders telling anyone anything except the truth. Young Living Corporate has proven all claims of adulteration to be false according to qualified independent testing laboratories.
Actually i am not sharing false information, i am sharing the truth that you refuse to believe. THREE different labs tested young living oils, found the same adulteration in cinnamon and other oils…so THEY are all wrong? WORLD RENOWNED LABS who have NO interest in the company. LABS who have NOTHING to gain from sharing the lab results of young living oils AND many others. Many former young living consultants are speaking out about this and realizing that they have BEEN LIED to by your company’s leaders. Ironically the only “lab” getting pure results is the one that Young living has been sending their oils too. That makes total sense! Pull the wool off your eyes, it’s one thing if you choose to keep using the oils for yourself but to be pushing those adulterated oils on many others is something you should be ashamed about. THE ONLY ONE who has A TON to lose here is young living and so it would make sense that they would keep blaming others for their mistakes. A GOOD COMPANY would own up to the fact that their distributers lied to them and put a plan in place to fix the problem.
Krystle…in your research, what EO company do you recommend?
Great article, Which oils would a person with pancreatic cancer try?
Since 1998, I only trust Young Living with my health and the health of my clients.
Rocky Mountain oils is the best. Do your research and see. They provide all the testing results upon request and have exceptional service. High quality organic oils. They are better than Doterra!

Yes, another company to try is Natures Oils, LLC website naturesoils.net These are energized oils and have many oils not commonly found.

This is true. People need to do real research and not just buy from folks who represent a source and are looking to make money.
Visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
The website you provided looks like it is your business so I am curious where you get your oils from? Thanks.
http://www.RestoredHealthAZ.com gets oils from all over the world. All are independently tested. Plants grow in different environments all over the world. For instance, the best True Lavender comes from France because of the climate and conditions. Same with the other essential oils and herbs.
Do Terra and Young Living are multi marketing companies, so you are actually paying a lot more for the oils than another reputable company. I have used Aura Cacia oils for many years and have found them to be very clean.
You keep saying to research, if you have all ready done so then why want you pass on the info.. saving us gals a few hours..we then can find some thing worthy to use.
Visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
I use doterea oils. Is this the best or obne of the best E oils
I do not use doterra because I know their history.
Visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
The history is that they broke off from YL because of shady business practices and recent findings of adulterated oils would actually explain greatly why they decided to branch away from such a company. Betty I see you comment on every persons comment about visiting the farms first hand and seeing the distillation process. Do you visit ALL of young livings farms since they don’t even own all of them. It would be unrealistic for anyone to visit all of one companies farms as a great majority of essential oils are sourced from other countries. An essential oil is unique and the region it grows in will determine a great deal of the chemical makeup of that oil. I personally love doTERRA, not only for their commitment to quality oils but the commitment to make the world a better place, one drop at a time, via co-impact sourcing. They are giving 3rd world companies more than they have ever had before, things we take for granted. They are making sure their essential oils are sustainable. Personally I think this is one of the top companies but there are a few others that also have quality oils also. As a nurse and a mom, I feel at ease using doterra on my family and recommending it to others.
Thanks for the info Gary. It’s so confusing for someone new to EO’s.
I use Young Living oils because they oversee their oil production from start to finish. In fact, Young Living owns its own farms and does not rely on other producers to provide plant products. Most other oil companies warn on their lables that the product should not be ingested. So I ask you, why buy an oil that you are going to inhale if the oil label says it’s not “ingestible”? No matter if an oil is diffused or worn as a ‘fragrance”, it STILL gets into your body. So buy oils from a company that is upfront about where the oils come from, refuses to bottle and sell any oils that may not be of the highest quality.
Young Living actually only produces 1% of their oils from plants grown on their own farms. The rest of their oils are sourced on the open market.
I like your website and it looks like you have many nice products. Do you ever have online specials?
My comment was for Carol Nelson! 🙂
I don’t normally have specials. But email me at CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ and we can talk!!
Thank you Barb!!
I am a 2 times breast cancer survivor with 2 mastectomies & thank God I never did Chemo. or Radiation, it made no sense to me. In 2014 I Idecided to detox my home liife & started dto use Young Living products, because of their longevity (in business since the late 80’s, their global impact & a quality control program second to none that covers all phases of production. This made them the world leader with over 1 billion $ in sales in 2015. They are doing it right. Check out my videos at: streamsofoil.com Jocelyne 6/4/16
I just ordered a lg supply from BotanicPlanet Canada , a lot of information on the site , has anyone else have comments on botanicplanet.ca

I have had good success using frankincense essential oil to cause the brown spots on my hands to fade – not disappear, but definitely fade. One drop on the back of each hand three times a day to begin with, and after a noticeable change, just once a day.
Gary Young (owner of Young Living) has the most comprehensive research in the world on how to apply and use therapeutic grade essential oils. They are the best.
Great website. I have been using doTERRA for over a year and love every one of the oils. I have found the Lifelong Vitality Pack has replaced my old supplements and feel Great! Helichrysum and melaleuca are my favorite oils.
Hi Carol where do you teach your classes?
Thank you
Positive thoughts always Amber
Thanks for the positive thoughts Amber!
I teach in Gilbert, AZ and have been for over 8 years. Each month is a new topic. I use herbs, oils, food and a few natural supplements to help people. I do tons of research and tell people about new things every month:) Love it!!
Have a fabulous day!
Well I think I didn’t press reply…was windering if you could recomlend EO for deodornt nd oily hair to put in shmppo..and deodornt to put in oil?….If you have time….thanks
Hi Angie, I’m not sure if I replied to your question. For deodorant Tea Tree, Cypress are excellent! For your hair Rosemary is good to possibly help your hair grow. Mine did!! Add about 10 drops per 4 oz. of shampoo. Use your shampoo as directed.
I do have a recipe for a deodorant that I use and gave at my class.
Deodorant:
6 T coconut oil
1/4 cup (4 T) baking soda
1/4 cup (4 T) arrowroot or organic cornstarch
essential oils (optional) I used cypress, geranium, black spruce or tea tree.
Instructions
Mix baking soda and arrowroot together in a medium sized bowl.
Mix in coconut oil with a fork until well mixed.
Add oils if desired.
Store in small glass jar or old deodorant container for easy use.
I hope that helps:)
I love Plant Therapy oils. Not only do they do the GC/MS testing on their oils, but post the results on the website for all to see. They aren’t MLM so the prices are affordable and I don’t have to buy a minimum…

I have found Edens Garden essential oils to be top quality therapeutic oils, with prices one can afford. I use their oils for just about everything, my family thought I was nuts until “Voodoo Mom” came to their rescue with their various ailments, injuries etc. But you must do your research first as these oils are very very potent and can do harm when not used correctly. I thank God everyday for these natural wonders!
*Note: No I do not work for Edens Garden, I just love their affordable essential oils.

Snowcat, I also use and LOVE Edens Garden oils. They are helping my health in many ways! I am grateful for that company!
I had tooth decay, but knew that oils solved it because my friend Pearlis Ballentine, who distributes Young Living oils, told me. She is at pearlis@triad.rr.com in North Carolina. I live in England. She advised me to order Thieves Oil and Lemon oil, and brush the affected area with my toothbrush after brushing and rinsing my teeth. I place a drop of Thieves oil first followed by the Lemon oil, and it takes the pain away either in one day or at most 3 days depending on how bad the pain is.
Young Living oils have an insert inside the opening of the bottle so not too much comes out onto the toothbrush.
Young Living oils are 100% Pure Therapeutic-Grade Essential oil Supplements. I highly recommend them.
Please be very careful!! Thieves blend has very strong oils in it that may hurt your mouth. I know people have used it but there are other oils out there that would be better for us. Tea Tree is one of the oils that is highly anti-bacterial. Using it with oil pulling (coconut oil) is fabulous for gum disease and other things in the mouth.
good oils are expensive and more so when purchasing from an mlm company like Young LIving, DoTerra or Ameo (Zija) – these companies profess to have the best, and they are good, but not exclusively – there are other good companies that are more affordable because they aren’t paying out a downline – I love Jade Bloom oils – lots of info provided, effective, excellent service, wonderful product.

I only use doTERRA essential oils. Their oils are highly tested and of the highest quality and I LOVE all the amazing humanitarian things they do all over the world. I’ve been teaching classes for over 2 years about all the amazing benefits of essential oils.
Carol Nelson, please give me your email or telephone number, my email is maleisz@aol.com Thank you.

I like to put two or three drops onto my palms, and then run my hands through my hair, especially if it’s after i’ve washed my hair and it’s still damp.
Drops of what EO,…thanks
Angie, sometimes people use Rosemary in their hair. It may help with some hair loss! It’s also a great fragrance:)
My husband had tongue cancer. After a full round of conventional radiation (40 treatments) and 4 rounds of potent chemotherapy, he developed a bad case of neuropathy in his feet. I read that frankincense would help with circulation. I had him start applying the frankincense with a carrier oil to his feet twice a day. He still has the numbness but the burning, stabbing pain is gone.
Turmeric essential oil is fabulous too. Changing diet, using extra Vit. C and D3 are also important!! Good for you though!! Keep doing the Frankincense!!
What kind of Frankincense do you recommend for circulation-carterii, frereana or serrata?
Debra, my recommendation is Boswellia carteri.
I love the essential oil company Edens Garden! Their oils are very high quality and they give instructions on their safe use. Highly recommended company! Also, since they are not a multi-level marketing company like doTerra and Young Living, you are able to pay a lower price for just as high quality oils.
Visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
That is not necessary, Betty. It is a big turnoff that you keep posting this same comment under all the other comments. You just want to sell Young Living oils.
Oils seem too expensive from above mentioned companies. Yes, they may be the best quality but let’s be realistic – not everyone can afford what these companies are charging. Any low cost alternatives?
That’s why I have used oils from AV-AT.com for many, many years. They are not a multi level marketing company and so less expensive. Whatever you use, get as much info as you can before you invest in oils. Check out the company, Google and read all you can. Some companies are not all they say they are and you don’t need to pay exorbitant prices.

No low cost alternatives unless you only want perfumes.
JJ, PLEASE check out EdensGarden.com for a truly reputable company and not at all over-priced oils. I have tried doTerra, and many other brands that are very expensive and/or make many claims. Edens Garden is just as good as the others and I am not spending a fortune! (I don’t work for Edens Garden.)
Can any one send me a link to young living oils and how to order them!
Thanks
Juan, you are welcome to view my web site. If you purchase oils from YL, you can do this retail or wholesale but you will need an affiliate number, 1834494. My group does webinars for education and I am a certified aromatherapist. Just click on my name.
does that company have a food label on the oils which indicates it is safe to ingest?
Jodi, it all depends on who you’ve learned from. There is so much on the internet that contradicts each other:( The way I’ve been taught is most are ok to ingest. But don’t do it daily forever. I teach to ingest only when it’s completely necessary. Use them topically first. I hope that helps. There are companies that have Do Not Ingest on their labels and others that don’t say. Restored Health’s labels say to contact the company before ingesting so we know they will be used correctly.
Intuition has often been my guide to which oil is right for me. When I later followed-up with research It has been exciting to learn that the science matched.. For those of you new to oil use try to find someone who can allow you to test the aroma of a selection of oils in your palms. For any specific health problem there are many different oils with will help but your own senses can be your best guide to help find the Best one for you.
Thank you for the knowledge and use tips. Understanding more about the chemical compounds is very helpful.
Eden Botonicals also include the certificate of analysis!!
I would like any information on removing a stubborn wart that’s been on my finger for over 2 years., I’ve tried the various wart removers from the drug stores and also my doctor froze it, but all that happened was it got bigger. I have some Young Living oils and wonder if any will work? Does anyone have any ideas? My email is ssmith087@hotmail.com.
It’s not a red flag. You and others do not understand this industry. Do your research.

I agree, Melissa. What people don’t understand is that synthetics can mimic a true component of an oil

Excellent!
Julie, 95% of the companies sell oils for Fragrance purposes – not health benefits. They purchase their oils from a producers that distills their plant material at high temps leaving the fragrance (WHICH IS THEIR PURPOSE AND INTENT) nothing wrong with that, these are our perfumes, fragrances in our shampoos, soaps, candles, etc. The problem is when retail companies purchase these “fragrance” oils and try to pass them off as “health” oils. The marketing technique does not determine the quality nor the cost of the oil. THE WAY the oils is processes and the intent of use, will determine the cost of the oil. Very few companies sell oils for health benefits. By the way, EVERY person/company on this earth sells something for profit.
Excellent!
Michele, my experience with Young Living Oils has completely changed my view of this tarnished thought about MLM. Young Living reps love their products and although yes some do make it their business, we all have to make a living and how wonderful to be able to do that by sharing their love and knowledge about the oils. They are very willing to teach you and guide you to how to benefit from your oils. Young Living chooses to run their business this way instead of pouring out money on slick advertisements. I discovered Young Living Oils through a wonderful group of mothers who used the oils in their household daily. I have contact with my up line rep whenever I have a question. In fact I have had so much support and caring from people involved in Young Living Oils, that they have become my friends. I would rather spend my money on a product that I know is being used by the person who sells it rather than some fancy advertisement on television. When I have bought a product off a store shelf and have a question, there is usually no one around to ask and then why would I even trust what they had to say. With Young Living Oils MLM system, I have friends that I can trust to give me truthful information.
Visit their farms and view first hand their distillation process.
I can buy at wholesale levels. where do you suggest to get oils.I have been getting my oils for my husbands cancer from organic infusions
That is not true. You are sharing false information.
I was around when the past YL employees broke away from YL so I know their history and the truth of those departures, very sad.
I have been to several of the YL farms & distilleries. I have also researched other companies and know that most of their growing fields were once conventional farms prior to the 3 year waiting period to become a USDA Certified Grower.
You really owe it to yourself to meet the only man in the Essential Oil market that is actually chosen by God to restore these precious substances to us.
Blessings to you and your precious family!
SO . . . we all really owe it to ourselves “to meet the only man in the Essential Oil market that is actually chosen by God to restore these precious substances to us,” huh???!!! That is an amazing claim!! Did God send an angel to this man with this revelation, Betty?
Laura, I recently heard Gary Young, the founder of Young Living Oils speak at The Metro Convention Centre in Toronto. I was amazed by this man’s knowledge, sacrifice, hard work and utter devotion to providing the highest quality essential oils to the world. After losing his ability to walk for many years, Gary Young truly did make a pledge to God that if he could walk again after a logging accident, he would devote his life to providing the highest quality essential oils to God’s people. I truly believe Young Living Oils have the highest standards in the industry. Yes, the company runs as a multi level marketing company but if you do your research, you will quickly learn this company is a multi level sharing company. Nobody has to sell oils. Young Living Reps simply share their love and knowledge of the products and people decide for themselves if they want to use them or not. It is that simple!
True!
No angel necessary. All you need to do is meet him.
Wow, ugh God doesn’t just chose ONE person to spread the gifts of nature to his people. And since the company is selling synthetic laced essential oils while claiming to be pure…..I think god would be very disappointed…
God can do as He chooses and I am sure He is well pleased with YL.
Krystle
Most people could never take the initations in life that Mr. Young has been confronted with. It is because of him, that all people in the Aroma Industry have the gift of the essential oils. Before 1990, Essential Oils were hardly heard of. He realizes himself that he could not endure the tests in life by himself and gives credit to the intervention. Sometimes, it is only ONE person that has the vision, and is able to handle strong opposition and then others finally catch the vision and often support the vision at great sacrifice, especially in the beginning. In the beginning, I mean the first 20 years. Mr. Young has the largest aroma science library in the world, respected in the US and around the world for his research and setting therapeutic standards. The Scientific instruments at the Young Living Labs were calibrated by the French Scientist so that the Science Department at Young Living could collaborate with them. So far, to date, no others have come forward with the standard set for health and emotional enhancement: (people and animals.) Mr. Young is very interested in working with other people and
companies to set high standards and did call a meeting to establish standards. At the time, no one came forward to even
begin the process. He feels that in time, more people will become trained in the farming aspects and the science of aroma and the change for higher standards will come.
Maria with all due respect, Mr. Young’s past history means nothing when the company is found to be distributing synthetic essential oils and refuses to acknowledge their mistake.
And secondly,I would not agree that Gary Young is not the reason that the essential oil industry is what it is. I would credit Robert Tisserand with helping to share the word and science behind aromatherapy. Thank you Maria for your comments. I am glad you know the truth about YLEO.
Hi Carol..was wondering if it would be possible to find in a EO shop a good shop which do cannabis oil?…also?..and also wanted to know what kind of lixture would you recommend for oily hair and deodorant?..thanks ..if you have time…..
Hi Angie, as far as cannabis oil it depends on the state you live in. If your state has legalized marijuana you can get it. If not then it’s not going to be sold in your state.
I make my own deodorant using organic material like cornstarch, coconut oil and essential oils. Cypress is a good oil to add because it moves fluids. And your armpits have lymph nodes. Lymph nodes don’t move fluids on their own so Cypress may help with this also. Tea tree is another good oil for deodorant because it may be good to remove bacteria. I’m sorry but I haven’t researched for oily hair. If you email me I can research it and let you know:) CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com. I do have some books about herbs and hair! Thanks Angie!
Sandi I have found Edens Garden oils to be very therapeutic. They are as high quality as Young Living and doTerra, and any other company I have ever tried.
Laura, Edens Garden is not a producer of oils. They are brokers who purchase their oils from other brokers. They do not own their farms, grow their plant material or distill their oils. Very few companies can do this; therefore they do not have the quality that is needed for health benefits. You could buy your own oils from brokers, slap your label on it and sell it just like they do. However, you would never be able to own and produce oils like that of the larger companies. Why?? Take YL for instance. They have been in business purchasing land for over 25 years, growing and distilling their oils. Before they were YL, they were a smaller mom and pop business. They now own land in other countries or have contracted with those countries to plant the seed, harvest the plant, distill the oil in their own distillers, bottle that oil and ship it directly to you. Edens Garden buys the oils from a broker and puts their label on it.
Debbie, if I wanted to buy Young Living Frankincense oil, is the Young Living a company that I should trust? In the ‘Truth About Cancer’, did Ty Bollinger give Young Living frankincense oil to a black man who was battling stage 4 lung cancer? Do you think that the black man’s in ‘The Truth About Cancer’ lung cancer is going to disappear completely, if he used the Young Living frankincense oil?
Silvia Logan, Young Living has a contract with Oman to distill frankincense right there in their own YL Distillery. No other company in the world has that contract. I did loved the “Truth About Cancer”. What oil did he give to the black man?? I don’t know. I don’t believe it was about BRAND for Ty – do you you believe Ty was promoting a “brand”? I think people should concentrate on the quality of the oil – regardless of the brand. My 25 yr veteran aromatherapist teacher, who has authored 42 books stated in class that 95% of the oils in the WORLD are mislabeled. You can only get a true therapeutic oil from knowing the distiller, their intent with the plant material, and buying directly from that distiller. How many companies actually produce the oil correctly and send it directly to you? Those are the things you need to be concerned about if you are looking for an oil that is not produced for fragrance purposes. As far as your last statement “going to disappear…,” are we here for educational purposes or to bash people. You and everyone else on this KNOW that we are whole beings – it takes a wholeistic approach to beat cancer – go back and watch the Summit – they DID NOT state that Frankincense was the ONLY way and it was going to CURE this are that. No, they talked about soooo many things that people could try to help our bodies beat this horrible disease. Are we on the same page? Frankincense is awesome to help people in so many ways.
But have you ever even researched the oils sold by Edens Garden, Debbie? I think maybe you should do so before you criticize their business. I am experiencing better health using EG oils, so I am very satisfied with them. Look at their website before issuing blanket statements, please.
Hi
Would be interested in a webinar or an actual seminar. Have you written a book, with the information?
or would you suggest one?
Am in Western Canada.
Have to be careful with peppermint oils they aren’t good for people who have epilepsy….
Many people are posting that companies like Edens Garden, Plant Therapy, RM, even Carol above states their oils are 100% pure. Do you know that the label means NOTHING! How is that oil produced in the bottle? That oil can be 100% pure “fragrance”. That is all it is 100% fragrance. Edens Garden and Plant Therapy, even Carol DOES not produce their oils – they are VENDORS!! They bought their oils from brokers, who buy their oils from brokers. AND they are out there to make a profit – do you think they are going to give you the oil free?
You need to buy from a company that produces their oil, bottles it, and sends it directly to you. Don’t you know the chain can be broken at any point? The US FDA has no standards and does not require the oil to be authentic. People had say anything about an oil and it does not matter. What matters is the integrity for the grower/distiller of “Health” oils.
Excellent!
Thx Linda P for that. I have been using Spark naturals for a few months now. It’s good to know!!
Thanks very much…;))…,
That too is a false accusation.
My intention is to make a very important point. If you have ears to hear, you will hear.
You can get your own wholesale account with Doterra, I can help you out if you like.
I love Doterra AND I have visited some of their farms, very happy with the quality and integrity of the company. I am also an ATO an aromatherapist and happy to help anyone out.
Debbie, I did watch ‘The Truth About Cancer’ and I did see many people using alternative therapies to treat their terminal cancer. They did not only use frankincense oil. Some of them used essiac tea, the Gerson therapy, wheatgrass, hemp oil, cannabis oil, viral therapy, and even went to Mexico to do the alternative therapies. Cancer is also a very complex disease. Some alternative therapies might work on some people, but does not work on others. One has to do their research. I do not know about treating cancer properly. I am not a medical doctor. I just go in what I watch and read.
Hi Carol, thanks for your reply! I just was told that if there is not a food label on the bottle, not to trust the company and that Do Terra is the ‘only’ essential oil brand that has it. I was going to order some oils from that brand but after reading posts, I am more confused. I also read a post by a gal named Nichole on June 3 that warns of the dangers of using EO incorrectly. I am now getting leery of using them. Who knows enough to prescribe them for particular ailments?? Doctors, certified auromatherapists, etc. ? I wanted to uses them and suggest to friends and family to ward off colon cancer, breast cancer, prostrate cancer, benign tumor growth, neuropathy, and for paralysis from a bruised spinal cord
Hi Jodi, Thanks for asking. I’m sorry that someone told you that about the food labels. There are some companies out there that have super marketing departments. There is really no such thing as far as oils go. Unless one company decides they want to make something up for their marketing.
Yes, you can use essential oils incorrectly. This is why I think it’s so important to get your products from people who have been trained. There are many companies and individuals selling products that don’t really know safety!
And essential oils aren’t prescribed in this country. Doctors (most of them anyway) do not have much knowledge about essential oils. If they do know about them they have gained an interest other than in their formal studies. For this I would applaud them! They are reaching out to find out other ways to help their patients!!
I have been teaching about essential oils, safety and how to use them properly for almost 9 years. Herbs I’ve been teaching for over 4 years. Please contact me for individual information. CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com, 480-577-4097. I’m happy to help answer questions. Please know you don’t have to purchase from me if you just have questions:)
Thank you Carol for your offer of help and guidance!
Jodi
Does anyone know which oils and how to use for severe ezcema caused by asthma and allergies, please help?
Do you have wet or dry eczema? If you would like to discuss please contact me via my website. http://betty.gary.walczak.vibrantscents.com
Teresa, I know this is about EO, but just read a book “diet wise” . It talks about how food allergies and sensitivities can cause all of those problems. Though I didn’t have your issues, I had others that it helped. It’s by Keith Scott-Mumby. But for a quick fix on the eczema, I mix coconut oil with vitamin E and frankinsence – works wonders for my husband.
Thank you all for tips on eczema , really appreciate it!
Yes this is false information that you are sharing. There have been no lies by Young Living. The correct information has been distributed to every Young Living member. The laboratory tests that produced the false information were done by labs that do not have the necessary EO libraries to correctly access the constituents.
You do realize these labs are world renowned labs that test oils from hundreds of companies and one has been in business for over 20 years right? You are in a very deep stage of denial, please stop believing the lies that your leaders and the owners are sharing.
http://holisticessentials.ca/an-update-on-yl-and-the-cinnamon-bark-testing/
I also love using e. Oils instead of toxic perfumes, but, if you put essential oils directly on skin, it can burn your skin!! Are there specific e. Oils that aren’t as harsh wen applied directly? Or what ar some other ways of applying using a carrier? (I don’t like getting oils on my good clothes)
Hi Rhonda, There are some essential oils (when not adulterated) that are too harsh to put on your skin. Oregano, Clove Bud, Thyme thymol and Cinnamon Bark to be sure! Please always use a carrier oil when using these oils. Fennel can be too hot on your face too.
Roller bottles are a nice way to get the oils on a specific spot without getting on clothing. You can put a carrier oil in the bottle then the oils. Put the lid on and then you can roll it on!
You can also use a diffuser in your home or hotel room. Use distilled water and add 2-4 drops of an oil to the water. Please leave your door open if you are diffusing in a bedroom as the space is too small to diffuse for longer than a few minutes.
I’m not really sure what you are using and why you’re using it. For example are you using it for emotional support, to help get rid of bacteria or viruses, to help with muscle or joint soreness? Let me know and I can help further:) CNelson@restoredhealthaz.com
I do know that all of YL in house labs are connected to qualified third party labs and are tested simultaneously. So you are also saying these labs are providing false information?
I am not in denial. I believe the facts.
I know nothing about what labs YL uses for their testing. What I do KNOW is that 3, THREE, different labs that are not connected with ANY oil company tested cinnamon, spearmint and other oils and found synthetic additives. The oils came directly from young living, were sealed, how do you explain or dismiss that? Those are the facts. It’s fairly simple if you keep it that way.
I am done discussing this with you since you obviously do not know anything about Gary & Mary Young’s character, commitment to purity, the Young Living laboratories & third party labs., etc. You have chosen to believe false information not facts and totally disregard YL’s scientific rebuttals to these testing labs. findings.
To everyone else please investigate both sides these allegations.
Here is some of the scientific information that YL has provided it’s members.
Dear Young Living Member:
Here is a written update on our scientific activities surrounding Spearmint oil.
The same three labs that raised the issue of adulteration on Cinnamon Bark oil have now raised accusations about Young Living’s Spearmint oil. None of these labs produced consistent results. In fact, since each report misidentified the markers for the production of carvone from limonene, their conclusions are incorrect and invalid.
Each of the reports posted on Facebook claim that “markers” were detected for the production of synthetic carvone from limonene.
Our results clearly demonstrate that there are no markers for synthetically produced carvone from limonene in the lots of Spearmint oil we tested. Additionally, Chemtech-Ford, an independent and accredited lab with over 50 years of experience in testing natural substances, analyzed the suspect lots and also found no evidence of markers associated with the synthetic process.
Let me address each lab’s data individually.
Essential Oil University
Essential Oil University states that the oil contains a “trace” amount of cyano p-menthadiene and that this compound is an indicator of synthetically produced carvone, the major constituent of Spearmint oil.
Furthermore, the report claims that cyanno p-menthadiene is an impurity from the synthetic production of carvone from natural limonene. This “conclusion” is verbatim on each of the four reports from Essential Oil University.
The synthetic route to produce carvone from limonene is known as the Reitsema Procedure and is shown here:
Figure 1
Figure 1: Rietsema process for producing carvone from limonene.
This procedure does not produce any compounds containing cyano groups. Furthermore, cyano p-menthadiene was not found in a thorough search of chemical libraries and the scientific literature, including the Merck Index (the definitive chemists’ encyclopedia of chemicals, drugs, and biologicals for more than 100 years), suggesting that this compound does not exist and has been misidentified.
Also, the other two labs referenced by the Essential Oils Consumer Reports group on Facebook did not identify cyano p-menthadiene in their reports.
Laboratoire Phytochemia
The reports from Laboratoire Phytochemia jump to a conclusion of adulteration based on a mass spectrum of a compound identified as a “Carvoxime analogue?” The question mark in its conclusion shows that its own analysts were unsure of the identity of the compound. This conclusion appears to have been influenced by a prior knowledge of the Reitsema Procedure because carvoxime is an intermediate compound in this process.
The conclusion showing the mass spectrum of a component claimed to be a “carvoxime analogue” from the Phytochemia report is shown below:
Figure 2
Figure 2: Phytochemia mass spectrum
It would appear that Phytochemia’s library lacks a mass spectrum for carvoxime, and therefore the identification was incorrect.
Young Living’s extensive library contains the exact mass spectrum for carvoxime (and its analogues, which by definition have the same mass), as shown below:
Figure 3Figure 3: Mass spectrum of carvoxime
A comparison of these two mass spectra clearly shows that the Phytochemia data do not match those of carvoxime or any analogues of carvoxime. Thus the data do not support Phytochemia’s conclusion.
Omar Odeh Test
This report is not consistent with any of the other reports, stating an elevated level of limonene that was claimed to be uncharacteristic of Spearmint. It is noteworthy that this is the only test that did not detect eucalyptol (1, 8-cineole) or β-phellandrene, both of which can co-elute (not separate in the chromatographic column) with limonene. Because these compounds were not detected separately, it is likely that these compounds co-eluted with limonene, making the limonene peak appear larger than it is.
This test also reports the presence of a compound called 5-isopropenyl-2-methyl-1-cyclopentenyl-carbonitrile and claims that this compound is a marker for synthetic carvone. This molecule is not present in the Reitsema Procedure (the synthetic process mentioned earlier), nor was it detected by any of the other labs. In fact, we have been unable to find any references in the scientific literature about this compound, and it is doubtful that this compound even exists.
This report also states that “it is rare to see nitrogen functional groups in nature.” Nitrogen fixation, or the “nitrogen cycle,” is a well-known and essential chemical process in all living organisms. Because all amino acids and all proteins contain nitrogen, this element is ubiquitous in all life forms.
This report concludes by stating that the levels of some of the components suggest that the sample is diluted. However, this is the same report that also states that the level of limonene is too high, which contradicts a dilution conclusion.
FTIR results from Young Living
I have stated repeatedly that strong scientific conclusions should be based on multiple, independent test methods. So rather than relying on just GCMS, we have also employed Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy to analyze the same Spearmint oil lots as those called out on Facebook.
FTIR is a technique that ensures specific bonds between atoms. Each bond absorbs specific wavelengths of infrared energy that results in a very precise absorbance spectrum indicative of the bonds present in a sample. Specifically, we used this method to look for the carbon-nitrogen bond found in the cyano (carbo-nitrile) bond. The cyano group was specifically mentioned in two of the three reports on Facebook as a marker for synthetic carvone. This bond was not detected using FTIR.
Figure 4
Figure 4: FTIR spectrum of 3 lots of Spearmint oil with a circle highlighting the region where cyano bond absorbance would be present.
In conclusion, none of the reports posted on Facebook are consistent. Each report claims that “markers” have been detected for the production of carvone from limonene. Each of these markers has been misidentified, thus rendering the conclusions drawn both incorrect and invalid.
Our results clearly demonstrate that there are no markers for synthetically produced carvone from limonene, and Chemtech-Ford also found no evidence of the markers associated with the synthetic process. Its report can be found here.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Buch
VP of R&D & Product Management

ChemTech-Ford does not even specialize in essential oils, they specialize in analysis of waters, soils and hazardous waste. So I’m missing how a lab such as this could be an “expert” on essential oil analysis. Also in the “reports’, the lab only ran the tests for 20 minutes which would not necessarily pickup synthetic trace markers since it would appear around the 30 minute mark according to experts who use GC/MS testing. So while that letter looks mighty fancy to discredit others, it does nothing to actually make me believe that 3 other labs who SPECIALIZE in essential oil testing were wrong!
Our discussions aren’t going anywhere and so it’s really a waste of our time. I know what I have researched and what has been proven true, not what I have been told to believe. It is the same reason that I decided against young living 2 years ago when I wanted to start using essential oils. In the last 2 years, there have been many things come up about your company that made me proud to have steered away from young living. In the end, I believe science!! and YES everyone please investigate both sides and you shall find the truth!
To everyone else looking for unadulterated oils, I would be happy to email you the google drive doc that shows passing test results as well as failed results from many companies. Keep in mind that some oils pass while others from the same company have failed, so unfortunately it’s not all cut and dry.
Essential oil popularity is growing and with it comes companies who cannot keep up with demand OR are just jumping on the bandwagon without regard to safety and quality.
Choosing what company you use for your family should not be a quick decision. RESEARCH and please don’t use one blog are your resource as it’s merely someone else’s opinion. And as you can see by the above comments, sometimes those opinions can be very skewed.
YES, thank you Krystle!!!!
Yes, thank you Kristie. Plz send info to”: mojavemelody@netzero.net.
Also there are benefits and differences of oils coming from their “native” land and not being farmed by a company that grows and sells them. The world of Essential Oils can get very confusing. I personally like to buy them knowing they are 100% therapeutic grade from their native country.
Where can you find the reports on those oils that failed
The YL EOs did not fail… the three labs misidentified constituents and were not consistent with their findings. You may contact Young Living for three third party labs consistent findings, http://www.youngliving.com .
Lea I would be happy to email the link to you, email me krystleeom@gmail.com. Betty, you have such bad tunnel vision it’s actually sad. Here are the ones that have been tested. As you can see SOME young living did pass but others did fail. It’s not errors on the 3 labs parts. Betty it was an error on the lab that young living uses as I said about, they aren’t even qualified to test essential oils!!!!
Betty, nobody can actually claim that only ONE person on earth is qualified to sell high quality and safe essential oils. Surely, you must admit that Young Living is not the ONLY reputable company with trustworthy and safe products!
Hi Laura, Gary Young is the one person that I know of that has been called by God to do what he does and how he does EOs. If you knew the amazing God story(s) behind this company you would understand what I mean.
What I know about the history of many other EO suppliers in the marketplace is that most are perfume quality only, adulterated, cut, grown on previously conventional farms, came recently into the market (20+ New manufacturers, not growers, in 2015) and more. In my previous career I was in marketing & market researcher so I can usually sniff out the bs when I hear or read it. Sadly there has been a lot of bs in this industry.
My intention is to educate, inform and warn since bad EOs can be very harmful if not deadly over time. I have done my research since 1998 and I hope others will do theirs as well.
I hope this helps! ????
Teresa, the first thing one can do to help their ezcema is find out what is going in your body (foods or drinks) that is causing the issue. I have helped a few people who are allergic or sensitive to gluten, eggs or diary. You can test this yourself if you are diligent. Stop eating one of these things for a couple of weeks. Then eat it for every meal on the 15th day. You will know quickly if you are allergic or sensitive. You may even know after the first week. If you are sensitive or allergic your skin may feel better!
There are some things that can help but until you get to the root of the issue you’ll keep getting the skin issues. Please try this testing on yourself.
For asthma and allergies there are oils too. But there are things you are eating or drinking that may be causing the allergies. Or it may be the environment. You are welcome to email me, text or call for more info. CNelson@restoredhealthaz.com, 480-577-4097.
I hope that helps at least a little!!
Thank you so much Krystle! I have being reading all the comments trying to figure out which oil will be best and I keep see the comment from Betty “visit their farms” and its not helping any because she seems to be only promoting YL but thank you for being up front with us and I was wondering if you could provide a e-mail that I can contact you so I may ask you more questions instead of dealing with the rants. Thank you.
Hi Shante, I couldn’t agree with you more! My email is Krystleeom@gmail.com, I would be happy to chat with you.
I am so sorry. But I have to finally get in on this conversation.
Are you KIDDING me! There is NO WAY there is only one person in the whole world who is blessed to have the only information Gary Young has. I’m sorry you have been taught this and believe this lie. I’m sorry but that is what it is.
It was not Gary Young who had the intelligence to start YL. It was actually his wife, not the current wife mind you. She had the knowledge to blend many of the blends YL uses still today. And I might add, the blends doTERRA and other MLM companies use as well.
There is also no way YL owns ALL of their farms. They may own a lavender farm or a few others. But they do not own farms all over the world. I don’t care if you have visited a few farms. That doesn’t mean those essential oils are the best. It depends on the weather patterns this year for the quality of the oils. Oh yes, and what about the war zones? Maybe there were toxins in the air from fires and other things if there was war in the area.
Not one company has the best of all the different essential oils out there! No way, not possible. They could say “We have the best of what we know of at the moment.” But they ALL say they have the best. How is that possible? Think about this please.
Sorry. I usually don’t get in on these conversations but I couldn’t help myself. We all need to use our God given brains:)
Thank you for listening.
Amen to that Carol! Thanks for interjecting some common sense thinking into the mix!
Yes, amen to that!!!! Like Krystle said, thank you for speaking some common sense!
Carol thank you for your comment. We are all grateful to Gary Young’s first wife who has said good things about him. By the way, Young Living owns 10+ farms and many distilleries around the globe plus has many partner growers as well. Everyone can view the exclusive Young Living process at http://www.seedtoseal.com and take Gary’s personal invitation to participate in the harvests.
In my Certified Clinical Essential Oil classes my instructors made it very clear that they would only purchase EO’s directly from the distilleries in France, Spain and Africa and order the grade A, 1st distillation. They advised this due to their experience with EOs on the market being made in laboratories for fragrances, adulterated, etc. They also emphasized the importance of organic origins and farming. This is why I continue to say to visit the farms and experience the distillation process first hand.
Krystle, thank you for speaking the truth!
Your argument would never hold up in a courtroom before a just judge.
Are you talking to me? Who the heck is talking about going to court and I’m sorry but I think young living should be the ones concerned with going to court. THREE LABS found synthetic ingredients in their oils and so lets talk again about what would hold up in court. THREE LABS that have years upon years of experience testing ESSENTIAL OILS vs the “lab” that young living used to retest their cinnamon oils that has NO experience with essential oil testing.
Where is your information about Young Living having adulterated oils from? I find it hard to believe.
To answer the orginal question, I originally started using lavender as a natural sleep aid. A pinch of coconut oil and a drop or 2 of lavender EO, mix in the palm of my hand, and dab under my nose then rub the rest on my neck and chest. I sleep like a baby. I also mix Frankincense, with coconut oil and vitamin E and my husband uses it on his excema. I use EO’s in j homemade products like toothpaste, deodorant sunscreen and sugar scrub. I just ordered a diffuser necklace and can’t wait to try it.
I am using Biofinest and like it very much. biofinest.com/en/
Hi Krystle, would you be able to send me that google doc with results on various companies?? I personally use Aromatherapeutix but would be interested in seeing results and comparisons….thank you! you can send to flwrnrg@aol.com
Debbie, So what are some “companies that produce oils for health benefits” that you would recommend?
DoTERRA produces high quality and unadulterated essential oils and has had a huge impact on improving the lives of their farmers thru coimpact sourcing. I love the company and have been using the supplements and other products for several years and by participating in their rewards program, I can get the oils free or at great prices. HOWEVER, just because I love doTERRA, doesn’t mean that there are not other companies who have been found to produce good quality oils. From what I know, aromatics international, natures gift and plant therapy all produce good oils as well. I hope that helps.
Thanks very luch for the advice!
Pyramid’s are illegal however, Direct Selling Companies are not! There are 13.1 million Americans involved in Direct Selling because it’s a great way to supplement one’s income.
My pleasure Jodi! Any time:)
MY PROOF is the recent testing that was performed by 3 different labs showing adulterations in young living’s cinnamon, thieves and spearmint essential oils! Feel free to email me for the link to the google drive that has these tests as well as tests from various other companies. I wouldn’t be “accusing” anyone without actual proof which in this case is lab results from people who have no vested interest in a pass or fail test. AND my only gain from continuing to try to share this information is to open peoples eyes that Young living isn’t as honest as people want to believe they are. AND to help prevent people from purchasing and using oils they believe to be pure that are actually laced with synthetics. Everyone can believe what they want but I know MANY people don’t know the truth OR don’t want to believe it. Many companies have had issues with adulteration in their oils, as the popularity and demand grows there will be more suppliers who cut corners and UNLESS a company is on top of testing, by non vested labs, they will get bad lots of oils.
Betty, I don’t need to listen to this man. You don’t need to convince me what kind of man you see Mr. Young as, it means nothing to me. Science does not lie. You know I would look at Young living with more integrity if it admitted to the faults and had a plan to move forward but they are just digging themselves a deeper hole of deceit here.
Again, Betty we will agree to disagree here.
Hi Krystle, I posted this link for those who would like to know Young Living’s founder better. I did not think you would listen to it. Yes, it is obvious that we disagree and that’s ok with me. I wish you would have taken your remarks and concern for others directly to Young Living or a court of law. In my estimation, that is the fair thing to do. I wish you well.
Concerns regarding recent testing has been brought to the attention of young living and it hasn’t made a shred of difference. My point in sharing here to is to shed light on the issues to people who wouldn’t otherwise know. I do believe people are working on a class action lawsuit and I do hope that it does go thru. Perhaps then, change will be made.
Take care Betty.
Thank you to all the “My oils better than yours” on this blog. You have spoiled what could have been good information for us all to share. The question was: “What are your favorite ways to use essential oils? Please share them in our Comments section below.” It was not “What is the best oil……” I was hoping to get some new ideas (there are a few scattered through this mess).
Some people just have to spoil things for others for their own advantage. I just want to learn new ways to use essential oils (vacuum cleaner suggestion was great).
Hi Susan, I will be the first to apologize for the mess of conflict this thread has become. It is a shame that it had to come to that. I love to incorporate essential oils daily. I use them in a DIY all purpose cleaner. Basically half vinegar/half water in a glass spray bottle. (tip is to reuse a glass vinegar bottle and a spray topper from another old cleaner! most fit perfectly!) I then add 20 drops of essential oils. My all time favorite is lemon and eucalyptus but I also enjoy lime/lemon combo. Be cautious with citrus oils if you have cats as they are highly sensitive to them. Just keeping them out of the room being cleaned for a bit would be helpful. I use this blend to clean my counters (glossy laminate that shows streaks very clearly) my gas range that also greases up easily and my mirrors/toilets. It leaves a nice clean finish, smells great and is naturally antibacterial/antiviral. I use a mix of lemon and baking soda to clean my stainless steel pans. I use a few drops of lemon in a bowl of vinegar/water to clean my fresh blueberries or strawberries. They tend to stay nice for quite awhile though they don’t usually last more than a few days in my house. I add a couple drops of oil to my shark mop pad, never in the water canister, as I clean it distributes the smell around the house. I use my all purpose cleaner and spray around heavy bacteria areas such as around the toilets (boys!) I spray a rag with the all purpose spray and wipe down doorknobs and light switches.
There’s nothing like a warm bath with Epsom salts, 1 T castile soap and 10 drops lavender essential oil. The castile soap will help the essential oils disperse more evenly into the tub water. Be sure to drink plenty of water after this.
I like to add essential oils sometimes to my morning smoothies especially if I wanted one with ginger but find myself out of fresh ginger. I will add 1-2 drops of ginger essential oil in it’s place. The same holds true for lemon peel or peppermint extract.
We use many oils for supporting our overall wellness but that varies depending on what our current supports are. I just figured the more common ways above may be helpful!!
We typically have on hand soothing sun sprays, soothing skin sprays, various custom rollers and homemade body butters. I could go on forever but I won’t, sorry! LOL!
Krystle – apology graciously accepted. Love all your ideas. I just read about lemon in vinegar to clean fruits and veggies but hadn’t tried it yet. I just picked up my first CSA of 2016, do I will definitely use it to clean them tonight. Thank you.
I don’t think you will be disappointed! Kudos to you on shopping and supporting your local farms! Take care!
Nice job of overall cleaning!! I use many oils in the same ways as Krystle states above. Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Susan, I apologize to you and all others for participating in the essential oil wars. I did answer the original question in detail. Blessings 2 U ????
Betty- thank for apologizing, and it is accepted. When we are passionate about something, we sometimed lose control defending it. I get it.
I am in Melbourne but I buy my oils online from SEOC (Sydney Essential Oil Co.) or New Directions, both based in NSW.
Me too Ty! 9 yrs. of living with chronic neuro lyme and cant gain any ground. Cancer sucks but Lyme never stops!
What brand do you recommend?
Debbie
You sound very knowledgeable, your information was very helpful.
However, you
did not mention a brand that you like and use.
Could you please recommend one Brand that you know and respect.
Thank you so much,
Maxine
My boyfriend was recently in the hospital for pneumonia and complications of a heart/circulation problem. He takes blood thinners and the doctor increased his dosage. Does anyone know of any eos that will help him and how should they be used?
I know for a fact that juicing is very effective ..organic fruits and vegetables..but have to do it with the doc because juices just as parseley and beets are very good for blood but if you take blood thinners also have to be careful…that is why i say better tell the doc about juicing..notmzlly he dhould know about the benefit of juicing…hope do at leadt!!! Modt fics fon’t know a thing about nourrishment…or ask a natutopathe that would know a lot would be wonderful if you coukd find one with the doc formation….i know that if you take any green vegetables while having blood thinner don’t take too much ..there are plrnty info about juicing on the net and in ttac….
Has anyone tried driving an antiflammatory oil such as frankincense into the body using a pulsed laser? I read that this technique was a way of getting almost instant relief.
Your comments indicate that you work for one of them Betty whilst Anna’s comment indicates someone who has done their homework. As a qualified aromatherapist myself I would believe Robert Tisserand before any MLM ‘expert’ with no education other that their own MLM company literature or training. Two of the companies mentioned already deserve to be shut down in my opinion.
I have been treating myself for vaginal and genital cancer for almost 5 years now and this method is great , but I use an applicator ( like what comes with vaginal hormone creams or what comes with the creams to treat yeast infections ). Coconut oil is antifungal, bacterial and antiviral I believe and it hardens below 76 degrees so it’s a great catalyst . In a dark bottle with a squeeze dropper top (1oz) I will add 50 drops total of antifungal, bacterial and viral oils then fill almost to the top with liquid coconut oil. Roll bottle between palms to mix well and let ‘marinate’ 24 hours so all oils mesh together. Fill applicator tube ( I roll a rubber band around a pencil leaving end a little lose to be able to incert an opened applicator then I balance the pencil across the open end of a tall bottle ( like what olives come in ) …with the opened applicator inside the bottle. Fill the applicator with oil mix and immediately put in frige or freezer to harden. Before going to sleep at night insert hard oil mix as far as applicator will reach and use toilet paper to catch what will run out of you while you sleep. Also put a pillow under hips to raise hips will help keep oils in you longer. Do your homework and find out which oils are best for cancer ,and especially fungal infections when treating female cancer issues!
Thank you. I have heard from Young Living Corporate and have reviewed their responses, which appear credible. I will be visiting them in person in the near future. Thanks again your concern is most appreciated.
J Turner, what frankincense do you use-carterii, frereana or serrata?
Frankincense carteri. But also Cypress and Juniper Berry. Rub a small amount on the bottom of your feet for all over circulation. If you are trying to move lymph fluids then Grapefruit, pink (if you can eat grapefruit-some meds don’t allow you to eat grapefruit), juniper berry, lime. All of these help move the lymphs.
And if you can do some bellicon jumping…makes your lymph move man move..up and down ..gently..wonderful feeling…trampolina..but not any kind of tramolina..cause some can hurt your bone knees…too hard but the bellicon is very gentle…yes it is true that it is expensive ..at least what I think..I bought one and certainly do not regret….
Thank you for asking Rita! I’m so sorry to hear you have breast cancer. Praying for you right now.
Contact me and I’ll get some sent out to you. 480-577-4097, CNelson@RestoredHealthAZ.com.
Helo carol don’t you think that this is odd?..my name is Boswell..and the name of ..frankencense is boswellia..etc…;))
🙂
What a lengthy thread! I read all the conversations and defending game of EO users all night… 🙂 I guess my question is, what essential oil brand does Dr. Axe use in his teachings? He was interviewed by Ty in the TTAC multiple times and even healed his mother’s cancer.. Anybody here knows what brand he uses (or endorses)? Thanks!!!
If you email him then he will tell you but I believe it is doTERRA.
Advocates with DoTERRA cannot mention the companies name on their personal blogs per the new policies. So that would explain, if it is doTERRA that he uses, why he does not say it on his blog or facebook posts.
DoTerra is a good product…but like Young Living eso”s it’s a pyramid company…in other words you’re paying for a lot of middle man commissions!!!!
Zathanks for the info.,well what suggestion you have to pay less?..thanks
Hello Barbara, Check out nhsofarizona.com. Jack Miller had Lyme disease and cured himself. He pretty much saved my daughters life. She did not have lyme disease but most of the same symptoms. He is amazing.
Which Essential oils do you use? I need something for energy and to motivate me to do my errands to keep house in good order. Also been suffering with pain in left leg, cause unknown at moment. I have not seen or heard much about Mercle Essential oils on computer. How long have you been using this brand or name.? Thanks for any info you can provide. Thanks!
Frances, many of the citrus oils and Rosemary 1,8 cineole can be used for focus. Rub a drop on your forehead and smell it. During the day you’ll be able to smell it sometimes too! For energy you can use Peppermint if you don’t have high blood pressure or babies at home. Rub a drop diluted with a drop of carrier oil (extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil or coconut oil) on your neck or forehead. Smell it also.
For pain in your leg try using diluted Lemongrass, Myrrh or Ho Wood. Rub a drop diluted 50/50 where it hurts.
Enjoy!!
Betty, You are correct about the difference between Pyramids and MLM’s. Do your homework Emma. Visit the farms. You will see that Young Living owns it’s own farms and doesn’t rely on a third party to supply their oils. There is a lot of time, money and research that goes into these oils. If nothing else, go to the Young Living website, scroll down and read D. Gary Young’s blog on how he got started. He didn’t copy other people’s hard work…he DID the hard work.
Rita sorry for the delay. I’ve been out of state:) Please look at my site http://www.RestoredHealthAZ.com. I can send you a GC/MS report if you’d like. Or you can call me. I’m at 480-577-4097. I’m happy to talk with you and give you suggestions. No pressure what so ever.
I’m so sorry to hear that you have been fed a bunch of lies regarding Young Living essential oils. Don’t believe everything you hear from companies that are trying to mimic Young Living.
I have been to the farms and been part of the process. The company is very transparent. I would recommend that you visit the farms before making such a conclusion. There is no other company in the world that has the quality of Young Living oils and no one has the Seed To Seal guarantee.
My life has changed with using Young Living Essential Oils. I hope one day that your life will too!
Betty this is a ridiculous thing to say! There are many EO’s suitable for ingesting, and a number that are not. Are you saying just because you cannot ingest Tea Tree (Melaluca) for example then you should never apply topically or diffuse? Your advice prevents people from benefiting from the awesome properties of oils unsuitable for ingesting.
If an oil is Certified Organic and you use it according to distributor AND reputable 3rd party recommendations then why would you want to or need to “personally visit their farms and view their distillation process”? There are many certified organic EO manufacturers scattered all around the world. To visit them all is preposterous, far fetched and a highly misleading piece of MLM propaganda possibly perpetuated by your own MLM company? Are you saying these hardworking businesses are not worthy of their organic accreditations and do not deserve to sell their products to other companies with an organic ethos – MLM or traditional? Perhaps it is you who “does not understand the EO market place or the blessings of the MLM industry”. It is unfounded and ignorant comments like yours that damage the wonderful MLM industry.
How about I counter your so called advice with mine: IF CERTIFIED ORGANIC IS NOT PRINTED ON THE LABEL THEN DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT IT ON, IN OR ANYWHERE NEAR YOU OR YOUR FAMILY.
After comparing to other oils thereis ONLY ONE oil I would trust and that is Young Living Essential Oils–they not only have oils but all the products, (shampoo, conditioner, Ning Xia Red drink, toothpaste mouthwash etc.) has oils in them. vfrierdich@kc.rr.com
Hi, Betty. Can you tell me of a farm(s) that you have been able to visit? I’m listening.
Hi Melanie, I have been to the following Young Living Farms: Mona, Utah, St. Marie’s, Idaho and Guayaquil, Ecuador. Everything was just like they said in the http://www.seedtoseal.com process.
While in Ecuador I visited the Young Living Academy and was able to speak directly with the teachers & students. Also, I treated myself to both the Frankincense and the Thieves IV therapies at the NovaVita Spa.
I hope this helps! Let me know if there is something specific that you would like me to comment on.
Blessings 2 U ????
Great great post – have been here for over an hour reading all the responses and information – and I thought I had a deep understanding of oils – thank you – extremely grateful for all the knowledge shared on this page.
Truly thankful,
Kacy
I meant this election! To me it’s a sheer case of TMI!!!
Do you have the addresses? Thanks.
Whose addresses Iain?
doTERRA has announced that they will have all GC/MS reports available for all their essential oils come November via a data base in which you can look up each by the bottles lot number! Talk about transparency! DoTERRA is changing the lives of people all over the world! 18,423 jobs have been created in struggling communities and 3.5 million dollars have been sent to these impoverished counties via healing hands. They are working closely with days for girls to help provide feminine hygiene products and education to young girls who would otherwise miss school. They are helping to stop the stigma that exists that the menstrual cycle is something to be shamed for. They are building schools in Nepal (earthquake proof) as well as schools in somalia. They are helping to create jobs in Somalia that allow them to receive FAIR and equal pay for their work. They are also working the underground railroad to help get children out of the sex trafficking trade. The impact this company is having is well beyond my families and the heart of the company is nothing seen anywhere else. They are the most tested and most trusted company in my eyes. They work with 43 different countries (26 developing) 84% of the oils are sourced exclusive to doTERRA because of our partnerships. Every single oil is tested 11 different ways to ensure proper quality and composition. The largest essential oil company that is working with John Hopkins hospital and many others to bring new research into the power that essential oils bring to the body! Could NOT be more proud to have chosen them to benefit my family and others! There are now also two different membership options and so people can decide what WORKS BEST FOR THEM! Wholesale prices and just personal use, wholesale customer. Wholesale prices with the opportunity to share with friends and family, wellness advocate! So many new things coming!!
Debbie Gordon, please find me on Facebook (Zen Lefevre) I would love to pick at your brain if you don’t mind… Thanks!
Cxwhat is the best oil to use for skin cancer?
I would speak specifically to an aromatherapist. Personally I blend for individuals. I do use Frankincense and Turmeric for unhealthy cells. You are welcome to call me at 480-577-4097 or email me at cnelson@RestoredHealthaz.com and ask questions.
Hello Carol..how are you?…just wanted to know if you heard Ty talk about this salve he used when he had his skin cancer?…surely there are several sort of skin cancer..and that this salve maybe might not work on some…just to say…but it can be an. interesting subject..to dig…
Hi Capucine. Sorry but I did not hear Ty talk about it so I cannot comment.
What brand do you use an how..I too have cancer in the breast..the only one I have left.
http://Www.RestoredHealthAz.com. 480-577-4097. Call, text or email me. I’ll talk with uou?
Betty, I wish it were that simple…. getting there would be pricey. I would love to visit their farms – it would be so very interesting! I understand their farms are located all over the world (?)
Hi Debbie-which company do you use? What do you recommend for cardio-vascular inflammation and immune deficiency? I use reflexology points and can’t take orally?
Krystle, what web site or research gives you those test results? I just started using YL oils but don’t know much about this yet. TY.
Peggy, here is the link to a former YL member who chronicled his experience.
http://holisticessentials.ca/the-day-young-living-broke-my-heart/
I believe that the test results shine a light on lack of quality but more importantly to me, the way they handled this situation is shameful! The way they handled this shines the light on the TRUE intentions of this company. I hope that you look at this with an open mind, this is a predicament that no company should put their trusted members into. Many will choose to turn their heads to this deception and I can understand how much some invested into their products, their business and this company. But in the end, this is something way larger than one person…
Krystle
All Young Living members were sent a full explanation of what happened. I recommend that you also inquire directly with YL, a trustworthy company for over 20 years.
Are you visiting all the farms around the world where your favorite company gets the plants for their oils?
How can I get on one of your webinars?
Hi Tobi,
Thanks for your comment!
Here is the link to sign up to receive information about when our documentary series is being aired: https://go.thetruthaboutcancer.com/
Well, I’m glad to have read this to say the least. Never would have dove into this topic myself. Very interesting!
Where can these oils be purchased online?
