Video Transcript: Water Fasting: The 3 Myths (Part 2)
Charlene Bollinger: Hello everyone. This is Ty and Charlene. If you caught Part 1 of Dr. Edward Group’s presentation at The Truth About Cancer Orlando LIVE, you won’t want to miss the next one.
Ty Bollinger: There are many myths surrounding water fasting. Keep watching to hear Dr. Group debunk three of these myths.
Dr. Edward Group: So, there’s a lot of water fasting myths, but the three that I wanted to share with you is, the first one you always hear, “I’ll starve to death.” That’s wrong. Fasting is beneficial, starvation is harmful. One is a valuable therapeutic measure, the other can lead to death. There’s a big difference between that because you willingly do water fasting as therapeutic, you know, if you’re starving, your mental condition is not really there. And we all know what happens when we are in a state of fear or anxiety or stress or depression or resentment or jealousy, all the negative emotions.
The only thing I could find, and I was even researching. Normally you’re not supposed to do water fasts on children, but there was actually a case by Shelton with an 11-year old girl who fasted on water for 40 days. And she ended up being fine after that. But only when the body fat falls around below five percent is when you would be in danger, according to all the research that we have looked at.
And then, “I will lose muscle mass.” You know? I’ve been saying for a long time that sooner or later, people are going to realize that everything we’re supposedly taught in school about nutrition is completely wrong or backwards, that you don’t need a lot of protein, and all the whey protein is causing the mucus and the inflammation and all the stuff that people are taking. There’s proof that, from people that have fasted for a long period of time, that they actually gained muscle. And, fasting actually increases your growth hormone and maintains lean muscle mass.
And the last one is “My blood glucose will fall.” Well, of course it’s going to fall. You guys are all familiar right now with the ketogenic diet, and you might fast for 72 hours, all that other stuff, which is great. But I’m going to explain why water only fasting has a dramatic effect on the body.
So, what happens during a water fast? A water fast is nothing more than rest for the mind, body and soul. It’s like a healing vacation. Now, who wouldn’t want a mind, body, soul relaxation? I mean that would be great.
When you temporarily stop consuming food, your body no longer has to perform its most energy-consuming function. Now this was interesting, because I’ve been involved in gut health for a long, long time. Me, like everybody else, we all talk about how important the gut is. Everything starts from the gut. If your gut is healthy, that’s where all the toxins enter the body to begin with.
But looking at all this research, it was very interesting, because the digestive process takes so much of your body’s energy. For just one meal a day, like if you just ate one meal a day, it could take up to 72 hours for your body, producing energy, it’s taking that energy away from all your healing, it’s taking that energy away from everything that you have going on in your body, to focus on digestion. Think about it.
I mean your digestive tract is the size of a tennis court. The surface area is 30-35 feet long. I mean your body is constantly utilizing all of its energy sources for digestion. That’s one meal a day. Can you imagine three, four, five, six meals a day, and snacks? I mean your body is using 80-90% of its energy stores at all times for digestive purposes.
So, how can you expect the body to heal if all of its resources are being spent on digestion?
The beautiful thing about water-only fasting is it shuts down your digestive system. And I’ve tried multiple fasts over the last year and a half. I’ve done water-only, I did water with Bulletproof coffee in the morning, I’ve done water with vitamin supplements, I’ve done ketogenic, transitioning into ketogenic, all that stuff. And the most powerful results, like even if I had a tiny vitamin capsule that I swallowed, I could tell that my digestive system was stimulated.
So, the power comes when you don’t put anything in your system. That’s why I call it hardcore. But I was also—even when I did a cup of Bulletproof coffee in the morning, or even when I did one tiny vitamin supplement, any time I put any tiny thing into my stomach, my digestive system became active. And I was actually more hungry doing that than I was on a water-only fast. Like I had the best results and felt the best. And it just confirmed all of the research that I’ve been looking at over the last year and a half.
Charlene Bollinger: Wow! That was really great information from our good friend Dr. Edward Group. We hope you learned a lot from this video.
Ty Bollinger: Yes, we sure do. And if you did, please share it on your social media and let you friends and family know about The Truth About Cancer. Thanks and God bless.
Tyrone says
So Overall in a nutshell… What is one of the main health benefits and or several benefits for “water” fasting?
Using water to clean out the cumulated foods in the digestive tract.
Giving our bodies a chance to naturally heal without chemicals(if we are eating anything packaged, canned, packed non-organic stuff).
Avoiding using tap water from the faucet for drinking purpose. Do use purified water even distilled water to cleanse. I am not crazy about plastic bottled water. Water distiller with stainless steel is pretty safe.
What Dr. Group’s opinion of dry fasting?
The Hindus have practised this system for Eons!!! Just ask any SENIOR Hindu and your mind will blow….everything is written in their Scriptures!!!
How long should the water fast be?
Basically what can I eat
Please read the article.

Hi Thomas,
The best advice we can give you is to consult with one of the doctors/experts that we interviewed in our Global Quest Series. Here is a link to get their information: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/experts-info-sheet/
We will keep your mother in our thoughts and prayers. Best wishes!
Dr. Edward Group used to be a regular on Alex Jones show. I discovered it by watching “Alex Jones: Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver on YouTube– The show also highlighted Dr. Edward Group. His credentials are listed on show and they are not good. TTAC is a very credible site and good information but the more people find out about Dr. Edward Group that will shed a negative light on the truth you are trying to get out to people. Respectfully
Hi,
This was great info!
Thank you ✌🏼
I was wondering if tea black or green or herb tea without anything in it would be a good option to fast instead of water!?
Thanks
No, not a good Idea, stimulates you digestive system , tannins in a tea inflames your membranes.
He said only water. Anything else stimulates the digestive system.
This makes so much sense. I have been using the fast day diet and drinking water but have been taking my supplements as well. From this I can see I have been making a mistake with this..thanks
I believe fasting and detox can be useful tools however, everything in moderation. If you do not eat you will surely weaken and die. This “doctor” sounds like a total crackpot to me.
Hi Terry, there’s multiple proof of people who survive and thrive by not or hardly eating and mostly living on Prana. This is a nice vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pct2qlEaR2Q.
Terry I’ve been doing fasting for over 30 years and it has became a part of me. I do it for a time every month. Give it a try the hardest part is getting to the 3rd day. Once you pass day 3 it gets easy. You’ll be surprised how sharp and acute your senses becomes plus the healing of your body. The longest I’ve fasted is 14 days. Make sure to drink only water nothing else.
Hi Alice,
How much weight did you lose when you were fasting for 14 days? Which length of fast best suits you?
Many thanks.
Do you suggest not taking your medication while doing this.
Hi Linda,

How long should one do this fasting and at what intervals? Thank you!

Done it all. The longest had for 32 days, that is water + nothing. First 2 weeks I was teaching tennis , next 3 I could not and had to rest most of the time. I did not eat all February, plus couple days. Big mistake!. Body try to save on anything then also on heating of the body. It shall be done when there is warm weather or plainly hot. But in general the results were MAGNIFICENT. This is like capital overhaul of your car engine – everything starts working excellent. The biggest your enemies at fasting are people that care about you the most: “You will die, you will loose your strength, doctors are saying we should eat (!), you have to have strength for work” etc. But.. my dog knows better… Once he was mingled badly by bigger buddy, ear in pieces, leg in really bad shape etc. So I saw his ear together gave him bowl of water and food and went to work. Shocked upon arrival – some water taken but food not touched!? With my dog – that impossible! He was on fast for 2 weeks. Heal nicely and THEN start wagging by the food bowl. Concluding – if you are over 40 and not fasting – you are crazy. Yes, if you do it first time you are going to have headache first 5 days (that is the proof of detox) but problem is not in the stomach but in your head. Warning 1 – do not cheat because you are going to be hungry; if you do not cheat – you will not. Warning 2 – have plentiful of GOOD QUALITY water (~4-5L a day, and yes, you will be thirsty). Warning 3: to do the fast is easy, returning to food is not. DO NOT overeat upon ending (if over ~2 weeks). Your first week are vegetables only (not fruits) and not shredded. Warning 4: you can’t use fasting to loose weight. My recommendation: fast 40 days a year but how you are going distribute the days is up to you. Message for females: there is no such magic cream, lotion, serum and other crap that would preserve your beauty as well as fasting! (my friend – she is 73 but the problem – for her female friends…- she looks 45, always on some kind of fasting). Side effects: wile fasting over a week you are going to smell the food like a dog, even through the door…
Awesome testimony!! Reminds me of Franklin Hall’s testimonies! Thank you for sharing. Great breaking tips for complete water fasting Only-no food for 40+days.
How does one fast when you feel like passing out? I have low blood sugar. I did something called the Hallelujah Diet years ago and felt a little more energy, but struggled with sleep and feeling like passing out.
Awesome. Thank you for sharing that information.
I am so thankful for having come across a subject on fasting so detailed unlike the type of religious fasting I am used to practice 30 days per year. The article is full of scientific study to back-up. the goodness of water fasting.I never tried it for more than 5 days of water fasting but that was enough to convince me of its benefits.I had originally planned for 7 days but cut it short by the reason pointed out by Steve, the no.1 enemy .And soon followed by a series of 3 days many times over .My experience is that more than 3 days is better. It is real detoxing.unrivalled by any other. After reading this article I feel so motivated to go for 7 days and 10 days .that is good enough for me.It is a great feat who can do it 30 days .Thank you for sharing your experience
That’s wonderful to hear, Osman! We’re happy to hear you learned a lot from this article.
Thanks for being here with us and for sharing your thoughts with us.
I have diabetes and really not too sure that by just putting water in my body, for however long, would be a problem for me. I do have med that I take to help me keep my blood sugars somewhat in check. So I guess that perhaps I should check with my dr. about this before even trying this program.
Please respond with an answer rather than referring me to watch a video
Take care and be safe,
Don
