Eating healthy is obviously an important part of staying healthy. But is getting all the nutrition your body needs simply a matter of eating foods that are high in vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients?
In a perfect world, the answer to this question would be a resounding “yes.” But if you’re one of the more than 34 million Americans who suffers from poor digestion or chronic digestive disease,1 all the healthy food in the world won’t do you much good if your body is unable to actually break down that food and extract its vital nutritive components.
Lack of Probiotics Leads to Poor Digestion
Many people who suffer from symptoms of poor digestion don’t even think twice about them because these symptoms have become so commonplace in today’s world. But regardless of whether you’re aware of it or not, poor digestion can take a serious toll on your body.
We’re talking major consequences that result from persistently consuming a standard American diet made up of overcooked and highly-processed foods.
Even many foods marketed as being “healthy” are lacking in at least some of the nutrient co-factors necessary for optimal nutritional support because they’ve been cooked or processed in some way.
All sorts of solutions have been offered to resolve this prolific problem. One solution involves dietary supplementation with probiotic bacteria – a great option when these probiotics are able to actually get where they need to be throughout the body. The reality is that many probiotic supplements never do what they’re intended to do because they end up “dead” on arrival in one of three places:
- At the manufacturing plant
- On the grocery store shelf
- In your stomach the moment they encounter its harsh acidic environment
Such environmental exposures render many probiotic strains functionally useless by the time they’re inside your body. In other words, leaving behind only false hope and disappointment.
The good news though is that not all probiotic strains are the same. Some probiotics are able to survive the variable conditions of distribution and the corrosive environment of the stomach much better than others, allowing them to go on and colonize the small intestine – this being the place where science has shown they confer their many health benefits. This is exactly what you want in any quality probiotic: the resilience to make its way inside the body without being destroyed.
Bacillus Coagulans: The “Bulldog” of Beneficial Bacteria
With all this in mind, “delicate” is probably the best adjective one could use to describe the general nature of probiotic bacteria. They don’t tend to like heat, pressure, or digestive juices. In other words, all things that they usually encounter along the way from the factory to your belly. But Bacillus coagulans, a unique type of lactic acid-forming probiotic that’s gaining considerable attention in the scientific world, is profoundly different.
For one, Bacillus coagulans possesses a natural protective shield that acts as a type of “body armor” to maintain its integrity throughout the journey from capsule to gut – something that most probiotic bacteria lack.
Though it’s perhaps less researched than some of the more well-known probiotic strains, B. coagulans (which is sometimes classified as Lactobacillus sporogenes in the scientific literature) is replete with its own fair share of scientific backing. Again, it’s an exceptionally hardy strain that’s a real trooper when it comes to persisting amidst adverse environmental conditions. This is due in large part to its unique life cycle.
Rather than simply living and dying, Bacillus coagulans has the unique ability to transform itself into a cluster of dormant spores that, technically speaking, are neither alive nor dead. They’re merely in a “readiness” state awaiting their time to come alive.
Much like a seed that has yet to germinate, B. coagulans spores “hibernate” when they encounter unfavorable environmental conditions that threaten their survival. For instance, having to live inside bottles on unrefrigerated grocery store shelves. They basically “sleep” in this dormant state until their surroundings become more favorable, at which time they “come alive” and resume their normative state of growing and spreading, populating the gut with their healing goodness.2
This distinctive feature of B. coagulans was discovered by accident during a time when the bacterial strain was actually believed to be harmful. Bacillus coagulans earned for itself a whole new reputation after it was discovered that this strain could kill a variety of pathogenic bacteria, including the infamous Listeria, as well as antibiotic-resistant “superbugs” like Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
This is backed by not only laboratory and animal studies, but also human studies – many of which have been published just in the last decade.
Bacillus Coagulans is Shown to Help Reduce Gas, Cholesterol, Infections, and IBS
If you peruse the scientific literature on this subject, you’ll likely come to the conclusion that B. coagulans is so much more effective than many of the other probiotic strains out there because of its incredible ability to not only survive harsh environmental conditions, but also to thrive (successfully) after it returns to more favorable ones.
Most probiotic strains, if they even make it beyond the torrent of gastric activity in the stomach, are hard-pressed to have much of a beneficial impact once they reach the small intestine. But this is not the case for B. coagulans, which authoritative voices on the subject have categorized as being a prolific colonizer.3
What makes B. coagulans even more special is the fact that it produces an exceptional form of lactic acid known as L+ optical isomer that studies have shown is even more powerful at breaking down foods and improving their digestibility than normal lactic acid. L+ optical isomer has been shown to help greatly improve blood circulation, normalize gastric juice acidity, maintain proper pH in the gut, improve regularity, boost the immune system, protect against chronic disease, and promote the formation of important B-vitamins like energy-producing vitamin B12.4
When it comes to supporting the body to heal from pre-existing issues, multiple trials suggest positive outcomes from the use of B. coagulans to assist with a variety of ailments. For instance, researchers from Florida published a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study back in 2009 showing that B. coagulans can help to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms in adults with chronic gas issues. Compared to individuals in the placebo group, those taking B. coagulans saw significant improvements in the severity and frequency of abdominal pain and distension.5
In a study published several years later in the journal Gut Pathology, researchers from the Penn State College of Medicine found that B. coagulans is powerfully effective against Clostridium difficile-induced colitis, helping to prevent its recurrence in test mice treated with the drug vancomycin.6
Around the same time, another research team published a paper in The Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care highlighting the successful use of Bacillus coagulans in the treatment of GI diseases associated with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).7
Another common and relevant GI disease is irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, the diarrhea predominant variety. A recent peer-reviewed human trial found that IBS responds well to treatment with B. coagulans. Researchers observed that supplementation with B. coagulans for 90 days resulted in significant reductions in not only diarrhea but also other IBS symptoms, including bloating, vomiting, abdominal pain, and unusual stool frequency.8
In the realm of cardiovascular health, B. coagulans was shown in a pilot study to support healthy cholesterol levels, helping to decrease serum levels of “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol while increasing serum levels of “good” high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.9
Probiotics, Digestive Enzymes, and Nutrient-Rich Foods: The Trifecta of Healthy Living
When included as part of a healthy diet rich in nutrients and vital digestive enzymes, spore-forming bacteria probiotics like B. coagulans may help jumpstart the digestive process while helping to balance and normalize the microbial makeup of the GI tract. In line with what science has to say about the subject, probiotic supplementation with B. coagulans might just be the nutrient co-factor that your body is missing, and the key to living a healthier, stronger, and more vibrant life.

Dear Ty Bollinger
I have listened to many of your documentaries plus many others including Chris, Trevor and Micheal, Andrew Saul,.
Plant based diet. minerals supplements.
zHope 4 Cancer, Dr Tony Jimenez
Everyone makes it sound like a easy cure but the Bottom line is having the Money to afford the Cure.
Hello, Jeannette!
Thank you for your thoughts, comment and your support of our mission.
We do understand the financial challenges that can present itself choosing the natural path to healing.
But we do hope that it does not keep you from empowering yourself with the life-saving information provided in these series.
Ty I think Jeannette and Joy would benefit from advice which points them to the natural foods where they can ger nutrients and reduce on the need to buy products which are out of reach for them.
I also find the testimonies too long and this is an additionsl cost because opening the videos and or articles consumes data.
Kindly help those who cannot the products to try getting the proposed nutrients from the food easily available to us. The products will serve the busy people who do not have time to prepare their meals.
Thank you.
Hi Janet, I totally agree with you. All the good information is accompanied by the sale of a product that many of us cannot afford. I am a disabled senior living on a fixed income. The problem with alternative products is that they are never covered by insurance. As always, those with money can always get the help they need. The rest of usd? Oh well!
Joy
Is chemo covered by insurance?
Cancer treatments are very expensive. Can you afford that?
You don’t have to buy a cited product, you can just use any means available to you. Anything. Like make sauerkraut, or buy really good sauerkraut, any ferments, with live bacteria and probiotics, enjoy kombucha, make yogurt. There are a million things you can do.
Hi Joy –
Thank you for your comment.
Please also see the resources below in case they will be helpful to you.
From our beginning, we have supported charities that really help these cancer patients.
HealingStrong:

HealingStrong supports MANY cancer patients and are amazing. HealingStrong, a nonprofit organization, is supported 100% by volunteers, who are experienced in using natural strategies. The organization’s mission is to educate, encourage, equip, and empower those seeking comprehensive natural strategies to heal strong and stay strong.
HealingStrong Connect Groups meet monthly in various areas of the U.S. and South Australia to link others interested in natural strategies, holistic protocols, and local resources. Their groups focus on mind, body and emotional healing based on Biblical promises, as they believe the God of the Bible is our healer. For more information on how to start a group, or become involved in one, please go to: http://www.healingstrong.org/groups, and like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/healingstrong.
Cancer Crackdown is so awesome and helps patients without a lot of money get supplements and treatments and even helps them raise money:

The best that we can suggest is to contact Healing Strong and Cancer Crackdown for any need in financial resources.
We also support Mary Beth’s “Nick Gonzalez Foundation” which is bringing Nick’s protocol to the people…which is one of the most powerful cancer killing protocols out there.
I hope this is helpful! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us again if there’s anything else we can help with.
Wishing you endless blessings and love!
Joy, have you considered telling your friends and family about these series and encouraging them to watch them? Then ask them if they will help you select and pay for alternative treatments as well as trying things out on themselves? And or, ask at your local health food store if there is a support group in your area for people who are seeking better health. There are more and more support groups and such springing up all over the place, and these do indeed provide the framework for cooperative effort, involvement, and – sometimes when needed – financial assistance. Above all else, pray to God to help you do what is right for the body He has entrusted to your care – it is a religious duty to take care of our bodies, therefore God will help those who seek Him for ways to take care of themselves according to the way in which HE has made our bodies! (That is the essence of real natural medicine – to put ourselves back in harmony with the laws of our being, so that we don’t go against the instructions in our Users Manual if you will!)
Foods that contain B. coagulans: It’s available in fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, and yogurt. B. coagulans is also available in supplement form.
I always enjoy reading articles written by Ty, watching the interviews he organises, listening to the natural medicine cures he discusses,- he is now an important part of my life in Denmark hank you so much Ty.
Christopher Long.
Hello, Christopher!
Your wonderful feedback and support of our mission is much appreciated.
Have a blessed day in Denmark.
One individual I’ve found to be both the most authoritative – he’s been involved with the Human Microbiome Project since it’s inception – and most articulate – meaning he can take a very complex subject like the microbiota – gut – environment and explain it so everyone can understand – is Kiran Krishnan, a clinical microbiologist currently conducting 12 human clinical trials using spore-based probiotics like the one referenced in this article. Do a YouTube search on Kiran Krishnan – he can also be found at microbiomelabs.com. Be well – and as Jeffery Smith is want to say – safe eating!
Yes Ross, I too have found that microbiologist researcher Kiran Krishnan is an expert on Probiotics. Having seen several of his discussion videos, he is a true expert and researcher in this field.
I also believe Ty and Charlene are doing God’s mission in helping to educate and guide people that have otherwise been misled by the lies in most Big-Pharma medicines. Healthcare doesn’t come from taking man-made pills, rather from ingesting wholesome foods and herbs and clean water. Lack of certain nutrients and minerals is fixable and can always be supplemented. The general public should embrace alternative medical knowledge that is best for their overall health and well being, rather than solely relying on medicines only. It has been like this for thousands of years. Living off the Earth and what God made for us to live healthy lives, not a pill.
It takes real guts for people like Ty and Charlene to step out of their comfort zone and go against mainstream medicine for a natural cause of fighting Cancer. Being a cancer survivor myself 30 years ago, I used natural means to fight it and I won! Given only a 30% chance of survival, I beat all the odds. I was taught the importance of proper nutrition by others (like Ty and Charlene) and along with my Faith, I was cured. Don’t ever give up – God loves you and has a plan for each and everyone of us. Consume wisely what goes into your body! Health be yours.
This is awesome, Stephen! It’s so well said.
Thank you so much for your love and support. It means the world to us.
God bless you and your family! xo
Beautiful comment…thank you for sharing some knowledge and inspiration for others as I believe the experience of others can be the most helpful and beneficial💗
yes he has; helped me with Skin Cancer issues years ago…
hi what skin cancer did you have and how did you resolve or cure it please?
If you have actinic keratosis, bcc or squamous cell carcinoma and cannot afford expensive treatments try garden spurge, Euphorbia peplans. The sap, carefully applied to a skin lesion (and kept out of eyes!!!) will result in redness, heat and then after a few days flaking and healing. Read more at the link below and do futher research yourself. I’ve used it for years with great sucess on my husband’s face to remove extensive keratois patches.. Do a cm at time is my advice.
Where can I purchase Bacillus Coagulans? Thank you
Hi Ty and thankyou for your interesting information.
Have you ever thought of doing a page with lots of short and to the point testimonies so people can really see for themselves how a healthier diet helps ? I went vegan 8 years ago and my varicose veins disappeared and arthritis cleared up and my digestion all improved and my energy levels increased. I also lost a lot of extra weight and my hair and skin both improved ( also my eczema disappeared) and my TEETH ENAMEL strenghthened– that was weird, but it really happened ! Also my bone scan recently revealed my bones have strengthened in the last year which is just amazing… please share this if you like…I find it just amazing that God’s diet ( plant-based diet in Genesis) is such a life-giveing health-boosting diet…but its God’s diet so really we should not be amazed!!!
Hello, Fiona!
Thank you for your suggestion, your comments and sharing how you took charge of your own health!
We are happy to pass your feedback onward and appreciate the support of our mission.
Fiona – that sounds amazing.
I tried a vegan diet for a month and unfortunately felt dreadful – really spaced out, chronically fatigued and depressed. After introducing organic chicken and fish into my diet I felt heaps better.
I guess we’re all different
Hey Fiona! Sometimes that awful feeling is how our detoxification is manifested!
Amazing that you were able to do that for a month! =)
Andrea
Even when people give up coffee–smoking etc. I hear they feel miserable and much worse than they did before so most times they simply go back to the bad habits they did before and of course they think they feel better. You have to simply stick it out and you will be amazed how much better you feel. A plant based diet, nuts and seeds, beans and sprouts is a great way to go and of course all organic. And you will be able to afford organic because you will not be buying the items you use to buy. You will be purchasing mainly vegetables and a small amount of fruit. (Fruit has a lot of fructose in them (much more sweeter than 100 years ago) so you don’t want to eat a lot of fruit. Cancer cells (which we all have) lives off sugar. And if the organic product has soy, sweetener of any kind other than stevia, canola oil, sunflower oil and a few other nasty ingredients in it don’t purchase it.
Look how much money you would be saving by not buying all the other foods you use to purchase–
And sometimes, Evie and Andrea, a positive or negative reaction to a diet or any protocol is due to our all being created differently; we have different histories/genealogy and so seem to need different levels of nutrients or protocols.
Yes Andrea, correct. When we change what we are eating we start to detox and can feel awful.
Our body gets “used” to what we used to eat and it becomes a physical and emotional habit.
However we all do what we feel is best for ourselves. I am whole food raw vegan and it works for me. namaste’, rachel
I also have seen every one of the good things happening to me. I didn’t start on my diet until the second round of cancer which I lymph nodes. I went totally full organic even bread, milk. I didn’t study anything until I went on chemo. I’m 12 weeks into chemo been gaining wait never sick like I was two years ago on chemo. My lab work has been very good all in middle range my oncologist actually told me not to do this he also told me expect the worse. That has all changed now. Please please go to the rite diet it is surely working go me.

Ty can’t make this suggestion but I can. Bear in mind I’m neither a doctor nor a biologist, just someone who does research to improve their health.
C diff if memory serves right can be killed with common bacteriophages. I’m not going to plug any one but you can Google them.
Good morning Ty, I just found out I have H. Pylori . Every 4 months I get a very mild burning sensation. Finnaly, I listened to the Dr did a endoscopy came back inflametion and H. P. Bacteria. I ordered the florassist GI with LE. Would like to know ur opinion.. thanks
Hi Francisco
I cured mine with cabbage juice three times a day.
Guys, I’m an amateur health researcher, like many of the folks who come here looking for answers.
I have one I’d like to add. Bacteriophage therapy. Like using viruses on cancer, this is a century old but was forgotten once we developed novel chemicals.
In lab testing, a dish of e coli or c diff prevented colonization of lactobacilicus strains. However, adding phages to the mix wiped out the offending bacteria and allowed lactobacilicus colonization.
Phages are readily available and safe. They specifically target a single strain of bacteria such as c diff, and then obliterate them. In terrible cases of SIBO or IBS, it seems this would be the way to go.
Seriously, it could mean the difference between optimizing the gut biomedical within a month or so, or never at all. Given we all slip from time to time and enjoy beers or cocktails and sweets and rarely eat fermented foods.
On that note, do you touch upon the cancer fighting power of fermented vegetables? Most people think of yogurt but it’s inferior as a fermented food and next to useless in cancer. Kim chi, especially if made with purple cabbage has actually been demonstrated to have any cancer properties. IMO, any colored vegetable should posses some, but most especially cabbage because of the indoles.
