Video Transcript: What Steps Can You Take to Prevent Cancer?
Ty Bollinger: So in light of all of these environmental toxins that we are exposed to on a daily basis, what steps can the average person do to prevent cancer? To not be one of the one in three women and one in two men in the United States that will face a cancer diagnosis? What can we do to prevent cancer?
Dr. Veronique Desaulniers: There are a lot of things that can be done. And again, I like to simplify things for people because I know what it is like to wake up at 3:00 in the morning and feel worried and concerned and you know, “how am I going to go through this healing journey? Are things going to be successful for me?” I talk to women all over the world that are asking those same questions. How can I prevent cancer? And what can I do to heal cancer if I am on that healing journey?
Well, we talked about the 7 Essentials. There are seven basic steps. Proper nutrition – you know, learn to detoxify your body. Balance your energy. Make sure you are getting proper sleep, you are getting exercise. Heal your emotional wounds. Deal with those spiritual and emotional issues.
Make sure that you reduce your toxicities in your dental work. Use specific plants and herbs and educate yourself. You know, knowledge is power and the more you know and the more you take responsibility for your health, the better you can prevent and heal. And lastly is early detection, which we talked about that, through various tools and blood work. So there is a lot of things that can be done to prevent cancer. And it is really taking responsibility for your health.
Most people have been trained to just let the doctor take care of them – write a prescription, go home, and it will fix the problem. But now people want to know what they can do to really be more proactive about prevention.
Ty Bollinger: Well, speaking of taking control of your own health, one of the ways that we could do that would be to be very careful about the things that we put in our mouth, right? So tell me – what is a good cancer preventative type diet, based upon your research?
Dr. Veronique Desaulniers: Well, there is no one size fits all. However, I have found that organic, 80% raw, and alkaline foods is really the best way to be able to add proper nutrition to your diet. Depending on the type of metabolic type a person has, the health of their GI tract, their blood type, their stress level, the type of disease that they have, there are different types of foods that you would incorporate.
I really like cruciferous vegetables because they detoxify the liver and they also help to metabolize the xenoestrogens or the false estrogens from the body. I also love green leafy vegetables like kale and chard and spinach because they are very high in trace minerals and they stimulate the liver and they help to detoxify the body, as well.

Eating cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflour, kale, cabbage, collard greens, and brussel sprouts are good for you. Trying alkaline diets should be worse a try. I should try those diets sometime to see, if would make any difference to my body.
