The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has conveyed its intent to file a statement of interest in an antitrust lawsuit against the media’s self-appointed “disinformation” police, also known as the Trusted News Initiative (TNI), a partnership formed by several of the world’s largest news organizations. TNI members include legacy media giants such as Reuters, the BBC, The Associated Press, and The Washington Post.
The lawsuit was filed in 2023 by independent journalists, media outlets, and health advocates, including us (Ty & Charlene Bollinger), Children’s Health Defense (CHD), The Gateway Pundit, Dr. Ben Tapper, Erin Elizabeth, Ben Swann, and Dr. Joseph Mercola. It exposes how TNI’s “coalition of the willing” colluded to silence competing voices and suppress economic competition under the guise of stopping harmful “misinformation” and “disinformation.” Of course, this just meant any position that challenged official narratives. The lawsuit alleges anti-competitive collusion and the economic motivation of TNI members to exclude upstart rivals from the market that threatened their business model.
The lawsuit also outlines how TNI operated like a shadowy Ministry of Truth, utilizing its “early warning system” to blacklist competing independent outlets, including TTAC and TTAV. Once TNI flagged a story or publisher as “misinformation,” its Big Tech partners swiftly deplatformed, shadow-banned, or demonetized them, ensuring only approved narratives thrived. Stories questioning lockdowns, vaccine mandates, or Big Pharma’s cozy relationship with regulators? Censored.
In its notice, DOJ attorneys said that cases “addressing anticompetitive collusion among competitors over product features” are “a particular concern of the federal government.” The Sherman Antitrust Act exists for a reason—and if the DOJ’s involvement is any indication, TNI’s “disinformation” crackdown may have been less about “protecting the public” and more about rigging the information marketplace and protecting their economic interests.
This lawsuit has been fighting its way through the system, from Texas to Louisiana, before finally landing in Washington, D.C., the backyard of these media elites. We’re not just asking for justice – we’re demanding a jury trial and treble damages for TNI’s brazen censorship scheme and flagrant antitrust abuses.
Let’s be clear: this was never about “protecting the public” from “disinformation.” It was always about protecting their profits and power by silencing competition.
One thing’s for sure: the DOJ just made this fight a whole lot more interesting.
