After years of being ignored, gut health is finally getting some well-needed attention. Many health-conscious people now understand the difference between “good” and “bad” gut bacteria, and how critical it is to keep to keep their digestive system in tip-top shape. After all, a healthy digestive system is essential for building immunity, regulating appetite, managing stress, and much more.
One tool that you may not have heard of in relation to achieving (and maintaining) a healthy gut is fulvic acid.
Fulvic acid is typically extracted from humic deposits, which are very rare and are believed to have been created from ancient lush vegetation by microbial activity near the surface of the Earth.
In its natural state, fulvic acid enables plants to absorb and use minerals and other nutrients very efficiently. In fact, it is absolutely essential for plant health.
Fulvic acid contains a vast number of naturally occurring bioactive substances. These include supercharged antioxidants, free-radical scavengers, powerful detoxifying enzymes known as superoxide dismutases (SOD), nutrients, hormones, amino acids, natural antibiotics, natural antivirals, and natural fungicides.
How Fulvic Acid Promotes Gut Health
Ongoing research over the past several years shows that fulvic acid acts to improve gut health. This is likely because it contains nutrients that support the ability of beneficial (good) gut bacteria to form a healthy “microbiome” in our bodies. (A microbiome is the collective name for the bacteria “ecosystem” that resides in your digestive system.)
Abnormal gut permeability – a condition in which food and other particles are able to penetrate the gut lining and enter the bloodstream where they shouldn’t normally be – is known to lead to inflammation and cause multiple health problems.
Consumption of fulvic acid has been shown to reduce the incidence of digestive disorders such as SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and inflammatory bowel disorders. It also helps with reducing constipation, bloating, diarrhea, and food sensitivities.
An Ancient Remedy for Poor Digestion
There’s an ancient natural remedy found mainly in the Himalayas known as “Shilajit.” It has been used for hundreds of years in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine to treat health problems that likely have poor digestive and immune health as underlying causes.
Just like humic deposits where fulvic acid comes from, Shilajit is also believed to be formed over centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants by microorganisms.
Shilajit contains 60-80% of fulvic and humic acids. Its biological effects are to a large extent attributable to these acids acting as carriers for bioactive molecules by forming complexes with them.
Can Fulvic Acid Help Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease?
According to a 2011 study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, a combination of its antioxidant and nutraceutical properties may potentially enable fulvic acid to protect us against diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
A well-known contributing factor to the development of such so-called “cognitive” disorders is free radical damage in brain cells. Fulvic acid is a proven powerful antioxidant that is known to protect cells and their internal structures from harmful oxidation and breakdown by free radicals.
Specifically for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, the abnormal processing of a brain cell protein called tau into insoluble filaments is believed to be a critical step in their development.
This study showed that, in a laboratory setting, fulvic acid counteracts specific aspects of abnormal tau processing by reducing the length of insoluble tau filaments and even disassembling them after they have been formed.
These encouraging results led the researchers to conclude that fulvic acid is likely to provide new insights into the development of potential natural treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and possibly other dementias as well.
Fulvic Acid Repairs and Protects the Skin
According to a different 2011 study, fulvic acid supplementation significantly improved the symptoms associated with eczema, even when compared to other eczema treatments.
In fact, fulvic and humic acid protect the skin on topical application and appear to help in treating wounds, scratches, and rashes. Fulvic acid has also traditionally been used as a remedy for poison ivy, poison oak, and athlete’s foot.
Should You Take Fulvic Acid Supplements?
Our health is constantly being attacked by thousands of chemical pollutants – be it antibiotics, allopathic drugs, hand sanitizers and detergents, even household cleaning agents and deodorants.
Thanks to modern farming practices, our soils have been contaminated by industrial pollution, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers. These not only endanger our health, but also contribute to soil erosion and nutrient depletion.
As a result, we have fewer nutrients in our food. And the nutrients we still have are in lesser quantities than they were years ago. This, along with a reduced ability to properly use even what is available, is weakening our immune systems and making us more vulnerable to infections and diseases.
For all these reasons, fulvic acid supplements are highly recommended as a regular nutritional aid for multiple reasons.
As we have already seen, fulvic acid improves gut health, boosting the immune system and lowering the risk of many digestive disorders. Additionally, fulvic acid is now actively being considered as a potential future treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
Other Health Benefits of Fulvic Acid Supplementation
There are also many other benefits of taking fulvic acid supplements. For example, fulvic acid is an excellent natural chelator. This means it binds easily to nutrients, minerals, and metals to form stable, water-soluble complexes. This in turn enables our bodies to absorb the nutrients, instead of having them pass through us.
Another benefit of taking fulvic acids is that they help to restore the body’s optimal pH level. They do this by alkalizing the body and preventing the formation of an overly acidic environment. In doing so fulvic acids help to prevent long-term illnesses and improve our body’s defenses against harmful bacteria, fungi, yeast, and other infectious organisms.
People taking fulvic acid have also reported a noticeable improvement in their energy levels, which is likely due to better detoxification as well as reduced inflammation and free radical damage.
Fulvic acid is a naturally occurring organic product and completely non-toxic. However, you should always consult a qualified health professional before taking any supplements to ensure that they don’t interfere with any other ongoing treatments or medications.

So compost pile tea is good??? Easy to get. Compost debris is on all my root crops.. that’s good. Thanks for the recommendation.
It would be nice for those who are taking this new supplement to leave some honest replies on how it makes them feel, positive changes, etc. so that others can determine if it is as useful as it sounds.-
I have been taking regularly for the past week both Fulvic and Humic acid but separately. Principally it is the Humic acid which I take daily but in much lower doses than what is recommended The Fulvic I take occasionally. I have had tenderness in both my kidney’s probably for around two years during which time I have felt unwell and drained of energy. I have enjoyed today as my energy levels feel restored and my kidneys no longer ache nor feel swollen. This evening I feel remarkably good and as those two acids are the only addition to my diet then presumably this feeling could be from the regular use over the past week of those acids.
What kind of Fulvic acid is best, as far as what company to trust and where to get it?
Any help would be great,
thanks
Hi would you and your staff consider doing an article on things to do to prevent cancer that fit into a VERY slim budget. We grow most of our own organic veggies in our garden. Maybe an article on the best plants to grow to prevent this horrible disease. We raise some of our meat but cannot afford to feed all non GMO feed for them. We try to avoid processed food. We garden in Dallas Texas so we do not have California weather that is for sure! Many of the supplement/spices you recommend are quite expensive. Is cancer prevention only for the rich?
Hi dashmiller,
We do have an article similar to that topic on our site already. Here is the link to it: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/how-to-beat-cancer-shoestring-budget/
Yup can put a price on your health , double dipping does get expensive, eat healthy raw colorful organic veggies eat less cooked/cancer causing red meat 10 years still cancer free…🙏😄😎🙃🙀🤣😱🤠
As someone with stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD) I am always frustrated to read such important information as this only to have the article end with “if you have health conditions …. check first with a qualified practitioner before using this supplement.” I’ve yet to find an MD who cares about stage 3 CKD enough to educate him/herself on what supplements can be useful or harmful. For that matter, I’ve yet to find an MD who knows anything at all about nutrition, period. I am not a medical professional, but I have had to try to educate myself on CKD, and from what I can tell the issue about any supplement is whether or not it simply suppresses or overwhelms kidney function, leading to temporary unhealthy levels of potassium, etc in the blood, or whether the supplement might in some way permanently harm the kidneys, as so many prescribed drugs can do, e.g. acid blockers and nsaids. Many cancer patients suffer with at least temporary CKD while undergoing treatment, so it would be helpful if in your articles you could always mention how the supplement you are discussing might affect the kidney, and whether or not it is safe for CKD patients. Thank you.
They try to avoid this because it is really stepping over the line, and the finality of what will happen to them is maybe worse than what will happen to those they would really like to help, front these people on their turf, and normally your problem will be gone, I once had stage 4 lung cancer and had only 6 weeks to live, that was in 2002.
PS I am still here
Wow that’s a long time is it gone now, or do you still got the cancer?and what is the secret that u live so long wite long cancer?
You are so right about Dr.’s not knowing anything about nutrition or anything but pharmaceuticals. The Kidneys aren’t the only part of the body that carries the burden of eliminating/processing these/any substances. More information should be forthcoming when recommending supplements or health protocols. I understand they are limited with what they can say, but at least give some information about possible interactions with health related conditions. Doctors refuse to recommend anything but drugs!
So sorry to hear of your severe medical condition. There is a medical doctor who specializes in nutrition. I have chronic heart failure and he has been extremely helpful. His name is Dr. Fuhrman and you can reach him at DrFuhrman.com. He has a colleague, Dr. Benson, who helps him in his practice and you can get advice by becoming a member through his web site. I hope this is helpful to you I know how hard it is to get medical advice when the doctors think you condition is terminal.
Sue, you should check out youtube Dr. John Mcdougall to heal your kidneys. i think your kidneys may be burdened by an excess of protien, or maybe even clogged arteries or blood sugar problems, Mcdougall will teach you how to heal all of this with a very easy and delicous EXTREMELY LOW FAT diet called the Starch solution. no fat, lots of starch (beans potatoes etc) and veggies, its an easy vegan diet but i believe he has cured many of kidney disease. youtube Dr. John Mcdougall the starch solution.
sue, i have crohn’s disease, and after seeing various gastroenterologists in my hometown and at stanford, i found that they had little knowledge about treating patients who need nutritional treatments…i was treated with many, many prescriptions that not only did damage to my liver, but adversely affected other parts of my body as well…so after doing MUCH research and finding a nutritionist, i am no longer taking ANY prescriptions, but instead taking chinese herbs and vitamins….in the crohn’s world this is called a miracle!…
i urge you to seek other knowledgeable professionals (other than western medical professionals) who treat the cause and not the symptoms….good luck!..
So is fulvic good or bad for your kidneys?? I need to help mine and heal them and was told this is great but I want to be sure
Fulvic Acid would be very effective with kidney issues +++
Inflammation is the primary cause of kidney failure where PAD restricts the flow of blood through the kidneys FA is very effective free radical scavenger as it can act as both cation or anion to reduce the inflammation and at the same time it carries 70+ ionic minerals.
It is non toxic and has always been part of our natural diet until the advent of chemical farming ( sick soil sick plants and inevitably sick humans) be sure to use a product that has an adequate concentration of Fulvic Acid to be effective and it should be taken regularly as it was always an integral part of our diet. FA has the same action for plants animals and humans and was designed but nature to be effective and crucial to health on the planet 🌏 There are thousands of articles out there with conclusive results for this not to be guess work, knowledge is power and the more you understand the more qualified your decision can be. Don’t leave it up those who either don’t have your interest at heart or who’s view is distorted by drugs and chemicals. The human body has run out of nutrients not chemicals and Fulvic Acid has many major attributes designed by nature to help all life on earth.
Go low and slow with any new supplement including Humic/Fulvic Acid, especially if you are sick. 1 drop per day for a few days, maybe even a week or 2, then 1 drop 2x per day, then 1 drop 3x per day…very SLOWLY increasing to dosages on the bottle. If you take too much too fast you will have detox reactions that will make you very sick. You will think the supplement is bad, when in reality it is just detoxing you faster than your detox organs can handle.
So is fulvic acid good or bad for your kidneys??
Allopathic physicians that prescribe synthetic drugs don’t know anything about fulvic acid and can’t advise people on whether or not to take it with there existing drugs.
Who do you consult if you are taking prescription drugs such as Plavix ?
Also, since fulvic acid makes cells more permeable, are there any issues with the release of stored toxins and heavy metals?
I make Fulvic Humic Concentrate here in Australia. If people are taking medications I often tell them not to take the Fulvic Humic drops at the same time. Fulvic Acid has the ability to transport the drugs more efficiently into cells/system. Take it at another time at least an hour apart. As fulvic acid does strip heavy metals etc from the body taking too much for the first time can cause a toxic overload. It the kidneys are not working well I would suggest to start off very slowly. My concentrate a normal healthy person takes 8-12 drops twice per day. So for example a severe kidney problem 1-3 drops once per day for a while.
Fulvic and Humic Acids are NOT a supplement. They are a complement. A drink that the Earth has made for us.
For CKD ….eat asparagus. It assists cleansing the kidneys, flushing urine out and cleaning all the plumbing and whole lot more.
Hi Trevor, will you supply it? Thanx
Just read your comment Trevor, great to learn all this. Can you tell me where I can buy this in Australia please ?
What is ridiculous is that with every article about health there is a “PRODUCT” for sale and it is unrealistically expensive, especially for those on a limited income. Here they are peddling “Fluvimax” ($50 per bottle), health is important but NOT affordable!
Try Swanson’s health products as alternative supplier. Neal Swanson is an honest, smart and experienced person. I have been taking Swanson products for years and have never been disappointed.
You are right, whenever a “study” is accompanied by an advert, my hair raises. I have had stage 4 colon cancer for the past 4 years, and I have used many suggestions from “Dr. Google and Dr Bing” Too much information is tiresome. You cannot put out a house fire with a hose pipe. The Fire brigade can stop the fire, but can also cause water damage. We shouldn’t say: “Doctors know nothing”- they can only prescribe what is approved by the Medical council. Cancer needs aggressive treatment – supplements may help along the way.
I may not get a new drug because my cancer has not advanced to the point of dying. – still under clinical trial they say. Why wait until it has advanced so far? – just wondering.
I am so sorry to hear about your health challenges. Being sick is not fun and can be very costly not only to our pocketbooks but to our mental state as well. You are right to challenge everything you read, but one thing is clear, you are sick because your body was not and is not receiving the proper nutrients it needs to stay healthy and maintain your health. Supplementation with a good program you trust that is from whole foods that are GMO free, pesticide free, herbicide free and non-toxic to the body is exactly what will make a difference in your recovery. Waiting on the medical profession to ‘heal’ you can be an empty promise. Yes, it’s tough to have to think of taking another product from this ad or from anyone elses numerous advertisements. But please remain open. Try something. Do something for yourself. Take charge of your illness. It is your illness, your body. It’s up to you to heal yourself. The medical profession can only do so much and that you are right about. But their approach is to put toxic poisons in your body in the form of drugs. This creates much more stress on the body than a whole food nutrient that’s meant to be in the body in the first place. The medical profession was put on this earth to help us get out of a health crisis. But to keep us out of crisis, nutrition plays a key role. We were not created to put drugs in our body everyday as a way of maintaining our health. That approach just makes us sicker. We were created for nutrients from mother natures blueprint – whole food! You follow this path, and your recovery and health will be apart of your life once again. I’ve seen it more times than I can count!! Blessings to you each day. Thanks for hearing me out!
Thanks this is just what I needed to hear thanks for the input
well said thank you
It’s so hard to read about all these new products and how good they are for your health, but then not be able to afford them. I took myself off blood pressure medications because I felt so drugged and sluggish and could barely stand up without being dizzy. I’m now taking a blend of hawthorn berry, grape seed, magnesium citrate, and garlic that I buy from another website and I feel so much better. I’ve also stopped coughing and am no longer allergic to dozens of foods. However, I pay $55 per bottle (150 count: use 3 daily), along with a joint capsule that is $45 per bottle (120 count: use 2 daily) and a vitamin at $40 (60 count: 1 daily). I’m 68 and that’s all I take. They are all great and I’m feeling better than I have for the last 20 years. I could have stayed on the pharmaceuticals and continued to feel bad and only paid the co-pay but I opted to pay for feeling better on non-synthetic, natural vitamins/minerals. This is around $100 a month for me and I am living on a meager social security benefit.
I don’t blame the people who have created these supplements for the prices they are charging…they have overhead, salaries, etc. If we had to pay full price for our prescriptions, we wouldn’t be able to touch them, as they are so expensive. I do blame the FDA and the insurance companies for preventing these supplements from being claimed on insurance plans. They do no damage, unlike the pharmaceuticals they push on us and, in fact, would be less expensive for the insurance companies. We would be able to discontinue some of the highly toxic pills we are prescribed, as well, which is why they won’t do it. Cholesterol medication is a joke (cholesterol has never killed anyone and we need it in our bodies) and is making us all sick, for instance…not to mention drugs for depression, which have no history of helping anyone. We all need to stop looking to our doctors for a pill for every ache and pain and look to non-toxic, natural supplements and good, whole foods (organic if you can afford them)…just choose what you can afford.
Unfortunately, good health IS for the rich. Until the FDA and insurance companies recognize natural supplements as viable, non-toxic applications for illnesses…which will be NEVER…we are between a rock and a hard place. Before pharmaceutical companies were created, the population was using herbs and whole foods, and diseases like cancer were almost unheard of. Fast forward to now, and we are all on pills, cancer is rampant, and pharmaceutical companies are trying to brainwash us into thinking that we need more pills, assaulting us with all their hundreds of commercials each day.
I’ll get off my soapbox now. I love The Truth About Cancer website and I have learned so much from Ty’s articles and the video series he created. Thank you Ty for helping me keep my sanity when my daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Currently iHerb sell a 32 oz bottle of Humic acid for $18 while Amazon.com sell 2 oz bottles of Fulvic for $14. It is not necessary to take the recommended dosages as benefit is gained from simply adding a few drops to a small glass of water. By doing this those products last considerably longer.
Please think about it before you get any supplements from amazon. Dr oz and 20/20 did reports on all the junk supplements labeled as the real thing. The old saying is true, “you wouldn’t buy your drugs from the guy on the street corner, don’t buy your supplements there either. “
How can one get these here in Southern Africa? I did follow up with a recommended product but there was no clearing agent to Ndola or Lusaka in Zambia.
I have perfect / borderline low blood pressure. I ordered some mushroom medley that Ty was endorsing and it made me feel terrible. Turns out these mushrooms, among their other good benefits, lowered blood pressure, therefore making mine too low. I have some gut problems so was very interested in this fulvic acid until I researched it and found that it also lowers blood pressure, so sadly I will not be ordering any of this. Ty — if you are reading this — I’m a big fan of yours, but It would be nice if you listed ALL of the benefits (and any risks) of the remedies that you recommend.
Hi Evan,
Thanks for the suggestion and feedback! I will pass this onward.
With LBP you should try something to see if it will affect your condition which might be different than others. I have LBP and fulvic acid doesn’t lower my BP. We need minerals and this is an excellent way to get them!
I am a true proponent of whole food anything. Just because a product source is organic, that does not make it whole food. Even algae, or mercury, or carbon are organic, but does that make it good for you?! There are sources of support for the gut that come from whole food such as many probiotics and even raw beets shredded in a salad can help improve digestion. Ty, you are right to add minerals to your product as most in America, at least are very mineral difficient based on the use of glyphosate in round-up and if minerals are needed to stimulate the benefits of fulvic acid then that is important. But again, what is the source of the minerals? Whole food, natural or synthetic? It makes a difference to me as well as many of your other readers. As for making the body more alkaline, I understand the benefits to that to decrease inflammation which is one of the two evil twins to disease, but again care must be taken to ensure that some acidity remains especially in the gut where that is the first line of defense against foreign invaders as well as the early steps to breaking down our food so the body can than absorb and assimilate the nutrients into the cells where all the work is done. If too much alkalinity is presented to the body too early in the whole digestive process, it can actually create more digestive compromise than good.
Thanks so much appreciated
What’s the difference between fulvic acid and humic acid?- also I have a gallon of humic acid that’s several yrs. old that I used in gardening – does it lose much quality in time and can it be used internally like fulvic acid – thks ps: If it contains microbes, do they die in time or just go dormant
Unfortunately, still too expensive to try!
I am trying very hard to get healthier in my older age (67). I feel we get a lot of piece meal information from “The Truth about Cancer” web site. Can Ty provide a recommended daily regimen that people can use and take? I am really confused. Thanks.
I can’t understand why this supplement contains folic acid which is now known to be bad for most people especially those with genetic SNPs.
Fulvic Acid is NOT Folic Acid Vit B9). Fulvic is a bright yellow acid found in Humic (which is a dark brown almost black colour)
Shilajit is available on ebay direct from India. Fairly inexpensive, but it’s best used as a spray on your homegrown vegetables and fruit, then just eat what you grow.
dashmiller, it’s very easy to avoid cancer. Just eat the produce and fruit out of your organic garden. The paleo people are wrong, you don’t need to eat animal products to be healthy. If you don’t believe me, ask a gorilla. Be advised, they may not understand what you’re asking, and tear you a new one.
So funny but so true!!!
I am interested in fulvimax multi vitamins you posted on your website..I trust your research but yes how does a person know if it’s helping or not? Do I just assume it is? Like others I want to know about side affects? If any?
Is Fulvic Acid a general term for a group of chemicals or is it one chemical? If it is the latter, what is its chemical formula?
I never heard of this term before.
One more comment: If it is an acid, as the name implies, how does it alkalize the body?
The same way that citric acid from lemons and limes does. 😉
Fulvic acid, one of two classes of natural acidic organic polymer that can be extracted from humus found in soil, sediment, or aquatic environments. Its name derives from Latin fulvus, indicating its yellow colour. This organic matter is soluble in strong acid (pH = 1) and has the average chemical formula C135 H182 O95 N5 S2. A hydrogen-to-carbon ratio greater than 1:1 indicates less aromatic character (i.e., fewer benzene rings in the structure), while an oxygen-to-carbon ratio greater than 0.5:1 indicates more acidic character than in other organic fractions of humus (for example, humic acid, the other natural acidic organic polymer that can be extracted from humus). Its structure is best characterized as a loose assembly of aromatic organic polymers with many carboxyl groups (COOH) that release hydrogen ions, resulting in species that have electric charges at various sites on the ion. It is especially reactive with metals, forming strong complexes with Fe3+, Al3+, and Cu2+ in particular and leading to their increased solubility in natural waters. Fulvic acid is believed to originate as a product of microbial metabolism, although it is not synthesized as a life-sustaining carbon or energy source.
The bottle on the ad page shows 90 capsules but click on the link and the purchase page shows bottles containing 60 capsules.?? Error? . Also we have read and heard from this same doctor that folic acid is synthetic and synthetic vitamins should be avoided but this product contains it! not folate.seems very contradictory.
Why does the product info page show a photo of a bottle containing 90 caps but the purchase page show bottles containing 60 caps?? Also this very doctor said on a video that synthetic vitamins should not be consumed like folic acid, yet this product contains it, not the natural form of folate. This seems very contradictory.
Hello Ty…. I have bone mets now from prostate cancer as a progression of the disease. Interestingly enough all other symptoms are decreasing steadily by about a third as in the case of some minor small tumors in the lymph system that are shrinking steadily but slowly for the past few years, all else appears normal apart from some newly discovered clots. You mentioned in your TTAC episodes about RIGVIR in Latvia. and its use. Is it possible that you have a contact for this and does it work? Sure would appreciate the info as the bopne mets has me a little concerned.. Thankyou
evan
Which stores in Ottawa, Canada can I buy fulvic acid supplements? If I took fulvic acid supplements, will it prevent me from getting cancer and make my skin excellent? I loved this article very much. I enjoyed reading it.
for cheaper fulvic acid supplements, go to http://www.iherb.com/search?kw=fulvic+acid
use code DPW974 to get 5 $ discount
From the post, fulvic acid is extracted from humus or soil. Is there a plant source of this essential acid that holds so much promise for good gut health and a remedy for some diseases including cognitive disorders? I kind of like to get my nutrients from the food source than from concentrated supplements/compliment. Soil may be okay, but it’s not very appetizing.
I discovered fulvic acid about 8yrs ago from David Wolfe. I was surprised to find that the last two naturpaths i have seen hadnt even heard of it. I have been taking it on and off since then as i was impressed by my own research on it. I have recently been taking a supp which contains fulvic acid and liposomal curcumin and i have definitely noticed a positive difference in mine and my 4yo daughters health.
Im a believer 🙂
If we ate what Gorrila’s eat we’d die of malnutrition.
Humans are not Gorillas
Many acidic foods, such as cherries, citrus, and pineapple, leave your body in an alkaline state. The question is not whether the food itself is acidic, but rather does it leave your body more alkaline or acidic. In general, fruit and veg leave your body more alkaline. Flour, oil, and meat/fat leave your body more alkaline. Al Kaline was a great hitter for the Tigers.
“Many health-conscious people now understand the difference between “good” and “bad” gut bacteria…” Get your facts right! “Bad” bacteria are like the old “bad” cholesterol, just misunderstood or out of balance, are they not?
Thank you Karen Buckey. I will check out what Dr. Furhman has to say about CKD and supplements. Keep reading if you can stand yet another rant on the state of so-called “health care” in Amercia.
I am totally and probably irreversibly disenchanted with allopathic MDs after dealing with my “Chronic Kidney Disease” (CKD) for the last year and a half, and I wonder if patients such as you with other conditions labeled “chronic” by the docs, and then subjected to the cookbook “standard of care,” have had similar experiences.
CKD and its “stages” offer an interesting look into the way MDs are taught to look at health/disease, and I daresay, their fees. First, they changed the label from “chronic kidney failure” to “chronic kidney disease” which automatically affects the way the under-performing kidney will be viewed. It has taken me over a year to realize that while there certainly are cases of actual kidney disease, e.g. polycystic kidney disease, there are other cases (such as my own) where the problem seems to be something unknown that at times suppresses kidney function, and at other times has less or no impact on function. IOW, sometimes my kidneys fail to perform optimally, but not all the time. If my kidneys sometimes perform totally normally according to lab reports, then that would seem to imply that the actual filtering capacity of my kidneys remains intact, even if at times it just doesn’t work for some reason. Is that a stage of kidney “disease” or is it as case of kidney “failure” due to temporary and unkown reasons? For the MDs, it is “kidney disease”, period. Every patient gets the same, “standard of care” response, which probably fits for some cases, but like all “one size fits all” treatments, fits poorly at best. But in fact the under-performing kidney may not be “diseased” at all. CKD in some patients might be merely a symptom of some other underlying condition which, if discovered, could be eliminated or managed.
You’d think that some doctor somewhere would be interested in cases such as mine, that there would be a protocol for isolating such cases and determining how to help the kidneys perform so as to avoid what supposedly is the “natural progression” to eventual “End Stage Renal Failure” (ESRF), but such is not the case. Nephrologists do not seem to make a distinction between what I now think of as “sluggish kidneys” and actual kidney disease where the kidney tissue itself is compromised and unable to work. Most docs don’t recognized Stage 2 as a problem and don’t even bother to tell people whose labs indicate Stage 2 kidney failure. Stage 3, which is seen as the “last window of opportunity” to address the “disease” gets their attention though: those patients are told of the significance of their elevated creatinine results, and are told to “eat properly,” to report back for another lab in 6 months, and to expect the inevitable decline to dialysis.
The cynic in me says that this complete lack of interest on the part of the docs ultimately may have something to do with profits. As patients “progress” on the “inevitable decline” to Stage 5 that they are told to expect — and to which they definitely will progress if they listen to their docs and don’t figure out what is wrong and how to address their kidney failure — they become more profitable to the medical industry. Moving through Stage 4 they generate more profit for docs via office visits and more profit for labs and perhaps hospitals as their cases become more difficult to manage. But Stage 5, where the patient needs nearly constant medical supervision and 3 times per week dialysis — now THAT is the brass ring for the medical industry. Dialysis costs between $80,000 and $120,000 per YEAR! And that can go on for a very long time. I know of one man who was on dialysis for 25 years and generated HUGE profits for his doc and the doctor-owned dialysis center at which he was treated all those years, in part subsidized by taxpayers.
IMO, docs and the medical industry are totally dis-incentivized to help Stage 3 or even Stage 4 patients find out what is causing their CKD and then do something to not just slow it down, but stop it. Over the last year and a half that I’ve been dealing with this I’ve realized that there will be no affirmative help for me coming from allopathic MDs. Whether or not the NDs or DOs, the acupuncturists, herbalists etc can help me remains to be seen. The silver lining to this is that I am AWAKE now to the quackery that still exists within the much vaunted “standard of care” offered by the allopathic medical industry and their drug pushers. My goal is to achieve as much health as I can through education and good lifestyle choices, including the choice to avail myself of responsible alternative care, so that I never get sick enough to need to access their end stage “care.” Their “go home and come back when you’re sicker” mentality is not for me.
So what do you do to help your kidneys?
Dr Jason Fung – I think I heard he is a nephrologist.
If you read about homeopathy at National Center for Homeopathy.org and find a very reputable homeopathic practitioner you are likely to have a much better result.
Is Fulvimax suitable for early pregnancy? As in the first 4 weeks…
Regarding “peddling products”… The drug companies make tons of drugs daily at a very minimal cost but charge outrageous prices which the insurance companies pay because of all of us who don’t need anything paid for. You pay a premium monthly and if you don’t have insurance the ‘government’ (our taxes) pays for it. They want to keep you sick and dishing out money for their drugs.
Natural products cost a lot to produce because the companies are smaller, don’t get FED funding and the purity of the product costs a lot. Insurance doesn’t cover these products. So, you just need to decide if you want to take drugs for cheap and die or take natural products for more and live. It’s a life choice. Just like with God…you can be lazy and not read your Bible and not develop a relationship with Jesus and get hit by the devil with everything that comes along or you can read your Bible and develop that relationship and stand up to the enemy and live life more abundantly. You get out of life according to the effort you put into it. I would rather take an expensive nutrient for a short time and get healed than to take a cheap drug for a long time and need more and more drugs and feel terrible and die.
Thanks Ty and Charlene for dedicating your life to helping others avoid what your family had to go through! God bless you mightily!
Read on one of the medical sites that this Fulvic Acid has been shown to remove toxic heavy metals from the body by bonding those things and eliminated in our stool. It has an extremely cleating action for those heavy metals. Even mercury is taken out by this too. You got to read starting halfway down the article before the real science is explained. bodybuilding.com/fun/humicacid.htm
Doc Nuzum here. I am one of the leading Physicians in the Fulvic/Humic/Ulmic acid arena and at DrNuzum.com and Anwei labs we manipulate the Carbon and Oxygen components in these amazing organic acids. We have formulas for skin issues ranging from eczema to spider bites, for gut issues ranging from Leaky gut to IBS to Candida and constipation and especially for nutrient delivery and detoxification.
Fulvimax is one of my favorite formulas. I specifically designed this formula to enhance both 7M+ as well as Turmeric 3D. I hope you enjoy these formulas. Doc
Does fulvic acid help the kidneys?
I have been taking fulvic acid since 2010 and swear by it ! It helped me gain good health again after a bout of debilitating illness. My supplier is Mother Earth Labs whose founder cured herself of a brain tumour by drinking fulvic acid. Check them out !
I feel the same as dashmiller. I do feel that the rich have a way better advantage to healing from cancer because they can afford the food and also the different natural treatments available. I too would like to know ways I can cure my cancer on a budget. I can’t afford the organic fruit/vege etc that I need to get myself healthy again. Every week I can only do organic apples as it’s my favourite thing to eat and the rest is the regular stuff from the grocery store but even then it’s not cheap. Looking forward to warmer days when I can get my garden ready. Looking forward to someone helping us out here.
I don’t think you can purchase it in Canada. I have since closed (web page long gone) the article I am going to reference, and even more so, I have read likely over 100 articles just in the past day or two alone re supplements for various issues, for myself and dog. Anyway, I read about fulvic acid and was initially VERY excited…ya know…the miracle cure? ;-). Don’t quote me, but from what I can recall, Canada has banned it due to it having too high a level of metals, and because someone noted India, where this is primarily sourced from (I believe), was the most problematic sources of fulvic acid with regards to high metals in the formulas. Then, I read about getting the minerals from either plants or soil, even rocks, and it appeared to stating that plant sources were really the only safe ones due to all the chemicals in our soil. I could be in left field re my “facts,” so, take it with a grain of salt. Then I did more research seeking scientific evidence to support the efficacy of this supplement…and, they were evasive and few. I decided not to take this until further reading. My cortisone levels are a mess (excessive stress for years, and otherwise), and I’ve had gastro problems for well over 15 years, and I’m young!! So, let me know otherwise (if you can purchase it in Canada, if you have a chance…). I’d also be interested in knowing if I’m the only one who has come up short of finding scientific studies supporting this. There are all sorts of inspiring stories on Amazon, but amazon can be fake, and thus, why anecdotal, especially in modern times, really should be critically examined and not taken at face-value. I would love to take it at face value, but I just can’t, and mostly because I would share with my dog, and need to make sure I’m not harming her in anyway (obviously to the latter). Sorry for the rambling.
