Seeking natural remedies to prevent and treat skin damage is increasingly popular for skin cancer prevention. Roughly 60% of chemo-therapeutic drugs on the market are designed to mimic the roles of natural plant based compounds. This begs the question: is treatment for the disease found without a prescription?
The month of May is Skin Cancer Awareness month and the mainstream media will be focused on healthy sun habits and getting dermatological exams. While some of this advice may be useful, there is very little discussion of nutrition and lifestyle in relation to melanoma skin cancer prevention. This article provides key research-based insights on lifestyle factors that influence the development of melanoma skin cancer and compounds and strategies to prevent it.
Plants Fight Skin Cancer
Phenolic compounds in plants contain anti-carcinogenic potential. Flavonols, lignins, stilbenes, and phenolic acids are synthesized by the plant to protect against the sun’s rays, chemicals, pathogens, pests, and are used to repair injury. These compounds not only protect the plant for survival, but consuming plants rich in phenolic compounds can also protect you from skin cancer.
Change your Diet and Protect Your Skin
Naturally occurring phenolic compounds in food are more readily available to the body for use than synthetic compounds found in many supplements. Plants exhibit skin cancer prevention in the following ways:
- Scavenge free radicals and inhibit toxic compounds which promote genetic damage and mutations
- Prevent inflammation and controls natural homeostatic mechanisms for healthy hormone function
- Act as bodyguards against other antioxidant activity
- Assist in detoxification pathways for proper vitamin D absorption and removal of toxins
- Protects skin integrity and prevents aging
Compounds That Help Protect Against Melanoma Skin Cancer
Adding these antioxidant rich compounds to your diet can improve your skin’s natural defenses:
Caffeic Acid: Found in spinach leaves, olive oil, apples, coffee, wine, and cabbage
Tannins: Contained in a variety of fruits and vegetables, nuts, coffee, and tea
Resveratrol: This type of stilbene is found in grapes, berries, and peanuts. Resveratrol helps to inhibit the over-production of melanin
Anthocyanins: Eat blackberries, bilberries, and honeyberries
EGCG: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has an anti-proliferative effect on cancer cells. Green tea is a rich source of this cancer fighting compound
Quercetin: Protects against genetic alterations leading to irreversible carcinogenesis. Eating whole apples, including their skin, helps protect against harmful UV damage
Ursolic Acid: Holy basil tea contains ursolic acid which shuts down cancer growth and down-regulates the genes associated with cancer growth
Luteolin: A major anticancer flavonoid, luteolin is found in medicinal herbs like chrysanthemum flowers, as well as in fruits and vegetables including celery, parsley, broccoli, carrots, and cabbage
Use Plants for Topical Skin Healing
Plants offer an economical and effective way to improve a variety of skin problems such as sunburns, open wounds, and infections. Try the following natural remedies next time you find yourself in need of providing skin pain relief:
- Massage a few drops of flax oil over cuts and burns for improved skin regeneration.
- Cleanse a skin infection by swabbing honey onto the affected area for natural antimicrobial results.
- Use Poly Herbal Cream containing plant extracts to heal from burns and wounds.
- Apply citrus essential oils such as lemon to reduce pain and inflammation, eliminate scars, and improve circulation to wounds. Other oils such as oak wood, mate leaf, sappan wood, and Populus nigra are effective agents for skin repair.
Vitamin D for Skin Cancer Prevention
Vitamin D exposure is critical to the function of an endless number of life-essential processes. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to a variety of skin ailments including psoriasis, dermatitis, scleroderma, and vitiligo which is a disease resulting in the loss of patches of skin pigmentation. Vitamin D is essential for healthy skin by promoting DNA repair, hormone responses with anti-carcinogenic abilities, and stimulating enzymes required for melanin production.
Safe Sun Exposure is Essential
Don’t stay indoors because you are afraid of developing skin cancer. A natural reaction in the skin takes place when exposed to sunlight. It is the UVB (ultraviolet B) rays which are required for this reaction but unfortunately is also associated with skin cancers such as melanoma.
To avoid over exposure to the sun, researchers recommend receiving 8-24 minutes of natural sunlight to arms and legs daily without sunscreen treatment. Timeframe of safe sun exposure will vary by individual and can increase depending on cloud coverage. On a clear sunny day, 15 minutes of sun exposure on the skin produces 2,000 to 4,000 IU of vitamin D for the body.
Groups at a higher risk of over-sun exposure and increased risk of skin cancer include post-menopausal women, Caucasians, individuals at higher altitudes, and people who frequent the tanning bed. Proper vitamin D synthesis is not possible from artificial light forms such as tanning beds.
Supplementing with Vitamin D3
When the region where you live or weather conditions prevent the sun’s rays from breaking through the clouds, vitamin D3 supplementation is ideal. Vitamin D3 is the active form of vitamin D and regulates the vitamin D nuclear receptor (VDR) for proper immune support.
Foods containing vitamin D include wild caught fish, eggs, mushrooms, and fermented dairy − but they only contain small quantities. Supplements like cod liver oil and sublingual vitamin drops and sprays are excellent strategies for maintaining healthy vitamin D levels.
Can the Wrong Sunscreen Cause Skin Cancer?
Our bodies are constantly burdened by chemicals in our environment. Even the “protective” sunscreens we slather ourselves with contain skin damaging toxins.
Titanium dioxide gives sunscreen its white appearance and is a microscopic metal that binds with impurities. Studies do not definitively conclude that titanium dioxide exposure to skin cells causes immediate cell damage but suggest that titanium dioxide creates cellular changes and possibly abnormalities from long term exposure. This metal does cause an increase of inflammatory gene expression suggesting it is not as safe as retailers would like you to assume.
Another common toxin which promotes cancer growth is BPA (bisphenol A). BPA is an environmental toxin found in the water you are drinking from plastic bottles and contaminated food microwaved in plastic containers. Both the kidneys and liver aid in removing BPA from the body and are regularly exposed to toxic chemicals. Avoiding all use of plastic materials, especially for food and water storage, can limit your exposure to such carcinogens.
Detoxify Your Liver & Kidneys to Lower Cancer Risk
Along with the skin, the liver and kidneys are also major organs involved in converting vitamin D from sunlight and food. Vitamin D deficiency can result when toxic waste accumulates in these organs preventing its absorption and requiring detoxification.
Milk thistle contains a detoxifying agent known as silymarin. Silymarin promotes liver and kidney function and flushes toxins from the gastrointestinal tract. Preventing skin cancer growth is as safe and enjoyable as sipping on milk thistle tea. Also consider taking a supplement containing 200mg of milk thistle daily to cleanse your organs of environmental hazards.

Having too much sun is not good for your skin, especially on fair people. It is always best to put some sunscreening lotion and a hat. If one notices a mole or stains in the skin and they change color, then they should go to the doctor and have it checked, because it can be dangerous, especially melanoma. I have heard that the clinical trials are trying viral therapy for stage 4 melanoma patients. Immunotherapy worked well with a guy in his thirties who had stage 4 melanoma in 2011. Now, he has no sign of cancer in any part of the body. One little girl had stage 4 melanoma and her mother gave her essiac tea and all her cancer disappeared and now she is alive and well. Viral therapy should be used to cure all types of cancers of all 4 stages, instead of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. I have heard that some people who tried viral therapy did not lose their hair, develop cold sores in the mouth, felt nauseous, vomitted, and felt numbness in their feet, because they kill cancerous cells and leave healthy cells alone.
How is telling a person with skin cancer to stay out of the Sun and use sunscreen and get their tumors cut off any different than telling a person to have chemotherapy surgery and eat ice cream and candy?
If cancer is the symptom of a sick body than the sick body must be the cause of the cancer.
Our are skin is a solar panel for Optimum Health. A little common sense is all that’s required.
Like to know what kind of sunscreen to use for someone that is allergic to the sun I get a rash like little bumps or little blisters on my arms and my nose sometimes my forehead age spots on my legs and I don’t like it. Anybody have a suggestion I just bought this sunscreen called Hang Ten natural sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection broad-spectrum SPF 50 96.90 % plant derived inactive ingredients it’s oxybenzone free paragon free, retinal palmitate free sunscreen to use thanks Jodi
Take an aspirin each day sounds like prickly heat rash
A semisynthetic form of vitamin E called vitamin E succinate or VES has been shown to be very effective for treating melanoma. It must be administered as a transdermal cream. Most of the compounds mentioned in the article have bioavailability issues even though they exhibit powerful effects in vitro.
Hello! We buy Organic apples, but upon slicing one one day, I noticed the film scraped up off the skin just like on conventional apples. I emailed the company and they got back with me saying what I already knew. It was “food grade” shelac and carnuba wax. I was unaware that these things co;uld be used on organic apples. I took the knife and scraped it off the whole skin and it was gross. I don’t like eating it. What are we supposed to do it we don’t want to peel it and lose some of the nutrition!?
Try soaking in 1 part white vinegar to 4/5 part water for 15 minutes or more then rinse. I find this takes all that waxy product off. It doesn’t leave a vinegar taste either.
Indeed, I can confirm this. Not just for apples, but other fruit too.
Norwex has a cloth specifically for cleaning the wax off of apples, etc. Works well for me.
I live in Florida but do not lay in the sun……….I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed from my face this year and was horrified.
I am a board-certified nutritionist and eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and lean meats. I also take 5000IU of vit D and co Q10 daily. after reading this I am going to add grape=seed extract with resveratrol. if I can help anyone please feel free to email me.

There is no mention here of astaxanthin, which I have been using for years as a natural (internally-taken) sunscreen. I have fair skin which burns easily, but I can spend much more time out in the sun, taking in my Vitamin D, if I take my daily dose of Astaxanthin supplement. I don’t want to ‘advertise’ here, but one of the best sources for Astaxanthin, knowing it is pure and good with no nasties in it, is from Dr. Mercola at mercola.com.
Astaxanthin combats any potential damage from UVA exposure with almost 100% efficiency.
Also…
Ginger combats any potential damage from UVB exposure with almost 100% efficiency.
Just Google it!
Thc oil in a few days
Lack of sun exposure isn’t my problem. I get too much sun in Mexico and need a safe way to protect my skin. I mix zinc oxide with my body lotion but wonder if this is a saf and effective method. I am exposed to direct sunlight several hours a day. Suggestions?
You got the right idea, but it depends on the ingredients of your lotion. If it’s not toxic, then it’s OK. I got a very beautiful, dark tan using a non-toxic sunscreen that is sold at Dr Mercola’s website, which has zinc oxide, but it leaves a white film that is hard to come out even during the shower. On my face I use Alba sunscreen, that is also non-toxic and doesn’t leave a white film.
I wonder how these things work if you have uveal melanoma (in the eye)?
If you get skin cancers that are not melanoma, try putting on a few drops of the sap of petty spurge. It will form a blister or swelling and will inflame the tissues often a ways away from the obvious surface trouble spot, but after a week or so, it clears up to smooth scar free skin without any operation. As an Tasmanian hobby farmer sensitive to sun screen chemicals, I have had to do this a number of times and it is most effective. Petty spurge is a fairly common weed over here. The milky sap somehow only affects the cells that are cancerous. You can google it.
Where do I get this petty spurge, I live in Victoria B.C.??? My email is llee1914 at shaw.ca…..I have basil cell carsinoma and they not to cut it out, PLease reply a sap…….Lynda
I thought I had learned in episode 4 of the Truth About Cancer that commercially sold sunscreens filter out/block the beneficial UV rays while letting the harmful spectrums through yet here we have recommendations for using specially deigned sun screens that are beneficial. This leaves me in the “if in doubt leave it out,” camp. Seems the safest way is to get outside but cover up as much as you can if out for more than fifteen minutes and ingest the things mentioned above. Frankly my biggest determiner of when to get outside is watching for a plethora of chemtails. Some days, usually after it rains there’s a gap in the spraying. Remember they are trying to kill us with toxins coming from all directions. If you think chemtrails are ice crystals back up to the awareness stage you were in when you believed everything they told you medically or on the news. In the era we live in one must put on the whole armor of health i.e.. exercise, organic food, proper cooking methods, using proper vessels for food, using non-toxic proper personal care products, increasing compassion in the world by making ever increasing small improvements and empowering others by sharing what you know, and keep nourishing your insights with learning.
My friend puts marijuana oil on his skin caner and it goes away. Whenever it comes back he does it again and it goes away.
cancer (not caner)
I have fair freckled skin and have been sunburned many times in my childhood (50’s and 60’s no-one realised the dangers). I’ve got rid of several basal cell carcinomas by dabbing a drop of frankincense on them twice a day for a couple of weeks. They shrivel and fall off without leaving even a red patch, never mind a scar, which having them cut out always did. Also since removing grains from my diet I can spend much longer in the sun without burning. I use coconut oil as a factor 3 sunscreen, then cover up or seek shade.
Gary, sounds wonderful. I would like to use marijuana oil. Where can I buy it? I live in Florida.
thank you, Leigh
vita cost… HEMP oil may be what Gary is talking about .. all the best !
Can someone recommend safe sunscreen options? I also need to know a treatment for actinic keratosis. A family member has it all over the face and head. Has had 2 treatments with a chemical compound; stayed in the dark for 3 days. Very little improvement. Thanks.
check out BEC5 cream..just used it on two solar Kerotosis on my nose. Gone in 10 days leaving new pink skin check it out online and in The Truth about Cancer presentations by Ty .
I’m a 49 year old female and was diagnose with Melanoma in situ on my neck last month. I had a wide excision to remove it and now have a 4 inch scar. I have sun damage and have sadly used tanning beds as a young adult. I am so scared of a recurrence or another melanoma. I am very confused about how much sun, if any, I should get? Is it different for me? My derm tells me no sun – its carcinogenic!
Lakegirl67: Dr Julian Whitaker, Well known MD and proprietor of a Newport Clinic specializing in advanced medical and alternative protocols that work. He likes to Bicycle and doesn’t like the heavier helmets that would protect his ears. Hence, sun cancers on his ear tops. ,He wrote about his alternate to having them surgically removed. His solution was to create a salve that insured that Vitamin C would be driven thoroughly into the skin and Cancer tumor. As he described it. “Mix a half teaspoon of powdered vitamin C with a teaspoon of DMSO.stir until the C is dissolved in the DMSO. Paint this onto the area affected. Cover with a small piece of paper tape to reduce the speed of DMSO evaporation.. Repeat as often as required to stimulate the eradication of the lesion.” This not a one shot treatment. You can watch the tumor being destroyed. From my experience with my ear tops and left cheek it takes several days depending how early you detect the CA. You’ll need a covered jar to keep your C Salve in. . Once you have the jar of DMSO you might learn something of its attributes. Alone it eliminates joint pain and pain from sports injuries. . Veterinarians have great stories, particularly how large animals with leg injuries have walked home after being rubbed down with DMSO. FDA is in a tiff about DMSO, they cant do a double blind test, which should be in itself a efficacy test. There is a 300 + page book about it on Amazon. Hope you enjoy and benefit JV
Melanoma is very serious business. It can be genetically passed on as well as related to sun damage. Listen to your dermatologist! It can metastasize internally as well. My sorority sister died from a melanoma on her toe at age 25. Please stay out of the sun! Wear SPF clothing, large hats, sunscreen everyday and have your siblings and children get regular derm check ups as well. You should be checked every 6 months. You should be very concerned about your diagnosis and take care of your skin.
Hi Lakegirl. I am s 10 year melanoma survivor, so I know where you are coming from. There are many companies out there that sell sunshade clothing. Make the investment. My dermatologist told me 15 minutes of unprotected sun time each day is enough. The rest of the time I am covered up. It’s about learning to live the life you want in a way that is safe for your skin. It was hard for me cause I felt like I would have to crawl under a rock for the rest of my life and never go outside again. Thankfully I feel like I have learned how to care for my skin in a way that allows me to continue life the way I want to live. Good luck with your treatments.
Ty, the service you , your wife & team are doing for people is nothing less than amazing! It takes dedication, hard work, valuable time & rare and I repeat, rare concern and caring for other people . This world is so full of worry and fear and you are relieving countless numbers of people of that who are fighting for their lives. Indirectly, you are saving lives.
Thank you all for the love you are so generously showing to others.
Most of article is what is thought to be helpful. Did not know titanium in sunscreen an issue perhaps. Wish some focus on safe sunscreens, if any. Why would sun, a natural resource be the actual cause of skin cancers?
Ty, Thank you for a relevant printable article. With only 24 hours in a day, I just don’t watch videos. For my eyes and time, If I can’t print out an article and read it under proper light, I simply have to miss it.
Excellent article, and another social offer fromyou Ty ! Thank you!
Same here. I live in Florida, do not lay in the sun, eat very healthy (mostly organic) and was also diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Interestingly that I had some DNA testing done a while back and I do have a gene that can inhibit vitamin D absorption and metabolism. Also this past 6 months I have been unable to go outside and walk like I usually do, due to ruptured muscles in my leg. Thus I have hardly even been outside at all and in no sun, which I think is not good either. I also have been taking 5000 IUs of vitamin d and CoQ10 daily for a number of years. I have gradually started my walking routine again and do plan on spending at least 10 minutes outside in the sun on most days.
Mary, since I live in Florida as well I would like to chat.

Great article. I was recently diagnosed with stage 1b melanoma. I am currently NED and plan to keep it that way. I already incorporate a whole food concentrate that’s in a capsule form in my diet daily and am adding some of the things you recommended. I also recently purchased a mole mapping tool to help me keep an eye open for changes. I love that there truly is hope for those with a melanoma diagnosis and I appreciate you helping to educated others on more natural approaches to prevention and treatment.
wHAT is a mole mapping to?
l. Interested since I have had several Melanoma insitu’s
sorry TO is to be TOOL.
In Australia I use a plant called Radium Weed. Picking the small stems around the weed gives out a white sap. I put this on anything that looks remotely like a Melanoma. It will overnight turn into a scab and slowly eat it away over the next week, or more if it is a larger Melanoma. I had one quite large on my leg, it slowly ate it away, not touching any normal skin, and went right down to its roots. It can look a bit nasty as it goes deeper, but keep it clean between applications (twice a day), and it cleared it so well that it didn’t even leave a scar on my leg which I found amazing. Most healings naturally leave scars, but this is brilliant, it must allow the body to really heal itself. Hope this helps, these natural healing methods should be out into the world for everyone.
Norwex is awesome!
Hi lake girl, I have had 2 early stage melanomas. I have fair skin. My best advice was to never ever try to sunbathe or get a tan again. But follow the best protocol to harness vitamin d.
Even though the information shows that most of the sun damage is caused in our youth, it is evident that we have a predisposition to retriggering the melanoma later in life.
However, it is essential to still get enough vitamin d from the sun to protect our skin and fortify our immune system.
The correct way to do this is get a little sun each day. Expose your face, arms and as much back as possible for Up to 30minutes maximum between 10am and 3pm daily. Know your burn time and DO NOT EXCEED THAT TIME (mine is 7-10 minutes, so I can’t do more).
Beyond that time it is essential to cover up and/or remove yourself from the sun during those same hours, as sunburn/tanning is more dangerous then. Please note that it seems more unsafe to do those first 15 mins or so during the unsafe hours, but that is the best available advice to utilise the sun to synthesise vitamin D and other benefits of sun.
Hope this is useful
I’m currently having 5 x 1b localized melanoma tumors removed.
I’m looking at future preventative methods. I find Aloe Vera, (Aloe Barbadensis), in so many of the sunscreens.
In California last December, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) added Aloe Barbadensis, whole leave extract, to the Proposition 65 List. The list of chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer.
US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health Database: (and other researchers) show clear evidence that Aloe Vera causes cancer in the colon, and goblet cell hyperplasia of the large intestine: Clear evidence of carcinogenic activity by a whole-leaf extract of Aloe barbadensis miller (aloe vera) in F344/N rats.
>adenomas and/or carcinomas of the ileo-cecal and cecal-colic junction, cecum, and ascending and transverse colon were significantly higher than controls<
Am I swapping skin cancer for colon cancer?
What about ‘Devils Apple’…….?
Thank you Ty and your team for bringing to humanity some of the facts regarding cancer because the biggest killer (after pharmaceuticals) is fear of death, fear of the unknown and people not realising that they need to take their power back and connect to their bodies via their inner-heart. When we listen to our hearts and not our heads then we can find out whatever we need to know about anything that is necessary in that moment. Another thing to realise is that we are responsible for the choices we make – we have created our illness/disease by not listening to our body and giving our power away to an outside authority, e.g. doctor, beliefs, ideals, or indeed anything else.
Also what we need to understand that all illness/disease is the way the body heals itself of the discordance we have put into it by again giving our power away and hence not discerning what we eat, how we exercise, what stresses we put ourselves under and our emotions. Emotions are the cause of all ill health, they are the re-interpreted feelings that we have held onto instead of letting go. The body becomes overloaded with emotions and has to heal – this is the body’s response to our living ways that are irresponsible. Once we understand this most important issue and learn to love our illness or disease and not fight it we will be well on our way to clear ourselves of cancer once and for all.
I believe it’s all in the genes everyone has Gene cancer cells in their body yes food does have a lot to do with it like sugar but when you’re on 2 person house hold with one income it’s kinda hard to cut out all sugar. We do the best we can. We do also have bananas, grapes sometimes cherries apples, and I eat ALOT of VEGY STIRFRYS!! Would like to what kind of bread is good? We do have a bread bakery around other then that Wal-Mart. I think even people that our total heathly can get cancer or other things. My sister is very very deathly and she had a mini stroke at age 58. What’s up 28th that??? Just saying nobody’s perfect and if your get something or going to get it. Thanks for listening
Jodi
Any suggestions for sun exposure for those of us who have vitiligo?
Leigh….what is your sugar consumption in grams per day and what source of sweetener do you use?
GC,
I use stevia as a sweetener for my tea, however,, I usually drink alkaline water alone. I do not consume sugar, that means reading labels as ketchup and other items that you would not think of, contain sugar…….it took me a long time to remove all sugar from my diet. I still had that cancer duh……….did I answer everything?
Leigh
DG – Thank you Ty for posting this – I was just diagnosed with melanoma a few months ago and I will be questioning my dermatologist next moth regarding this –
Primal life organics website has a great sunscreen! I’ve been using it for a couple years now and recommend to any and everyone! Main ingredient is red raspberry seed essential oil. They even have pregnancy versions of most products! The sunscreen is pricey but also anti-aging, moisturizing and best of all, no white residue! A little goes a long way too!
The comment about using citrus (essential) oils was offered without the caveat of saying that you should not put citrus oils on skin that will be exposed to sunlight in the next 6 to 8 hours. Citrus oils, found in the rind of citrus fruit, are for ripening that fruit. They are best taken internally or diffused. Citrus oils are high in limonene which may be useful for preventing cancer.
I have a few citrus trees and wonder if you could advise me how to most effectively remove the oil from the rind?
Make sure the lemons are organic, not sprayed. You can shave the yellow part of the lemon, use it in smoothies, make tea with whole lemon slices and look online for recipes to infuse olive oil with lemon rinds. Citrus essential oil are cold pressed and concentrated, more potent then what you can get from a whole lemon.
As a building contractor, I spend many hours in the sun. I have not used sunscreen in 60 years and have healthy skin. I have found coconut oil to be effective against sunburn. My skin actually cools down after application when exposed to direct sun. I also enjoy a plant based diet with many of the foods mentioned and try to stay hydrated. Plants with thin leaves can survive in hot sun as long as they are hydrated, so I believe we can also benefit. Sun management is also very important. Staying in the shade during the hottest part of the day if possible, or wearing loose, long sleeve light colored shirts, pants and a wide brim hat really helps. I viewed a chart showing how skin cancer rates have risen accordingly with the increase in sales of sunscreen. I think that we assume we can stay in full sun for hours or all day and be protected because we use sunscreen. Seems like we may be cooking chemicals into our skin and our whole body. Try coconut oil. It also makes your skin look good and you can eat it.
Remember that whatever you put on your skin gets absorbed throughout your body. Our skin is the body’s largest organ.
I went through hell by having photogenic traetment to kill a basal cell only to have it return three months later. The cost was around $1500.00 After it returned I applied a tiny amount of Aldara cream at a cost of $1.00. I only applied it once, left it covered for three days and 5 years on it has never returned.
I have not heard of Aldara Cream but would like to try it. Where can it be bought?
My father had basal cell skin cancer two years ago behind his ear and had surgery. He is fine. My sister who is a doctor looked at it and said that it is nothing serious. I told my GP doctor also that my father had basal cell skin cancer and it was nothing.
Great information, I will definitely share this with my friends and family!
I love reading all the advice and information from everyone and I thank you for taking the time to do so. As a board-certified nutritionist and health advocate I was so shocked to have a squamous cell carcinoma cancer.. Since I eat well,, exercise and wear hats, I thought there must be another reason. it was then i discovered i was consuming sugar. I do not ingest any now but it took me a while to remove it…. cancer feeds on sugar, all types.
sugar was hiding in my health bars, and many other things I thought were okay. I now help clients change their health by changing their diet. no bread, no pasta, no crackers, or health bars unless you have read the label and know there is no sugar, I still like to hear any and all advice as I appreciate learning
Leigh. .
Leigh…I would love to hear more about what you DO eat to keep sugar out of your diet. I just completed a 30 day detox with Arbonne and I’m ready to continue the journey but looking for alternative ways to satisfy my sweet tooth. I use Stevie but isn’t it still sugar? My mom died from cancer as did all my grandparents, 2 uncles and my aunt. I also have 2 uncles who have both survived cancer. It’s everywhere and I want to protect myself and my children if I can.
Can you please give me your opinion or results of research on the use of black salve on skin cancers? Thank you.
Excellent and very easy to do.
Hi Leah, have you considered the possibility that your facial cancer is from cell phone use. It appears to me that our cell phone radiation is leap-frogging to the front of the list of carcinogens, especially for anywhere on the head/face. For a documentary on the effects of cell phone radiation see the documentary: “Resonance – Beings of Frequency”. Our smart phones are cooking our hands also. I can literally feel the effects as I hold my phone to text or watch youtube or especially use google maps. I now have to move it farther and farther away from me to not feel the cooking while using the device!!
Hello Eric,
I agree about cell phone use. I do not use one and many people think I am living in the dark ages
I use this desk top computer and our house phone……I say to people that question me for not having a cell, “What is so important that you need to use one?” I appreciate all of you more than you know.
Leigh
Same here!!! Awesome.
Norwex has a cleaning cloth for fruits and vegetables that works wonders and you wouldn’t have to worry about any vinegar taste or waiting 15 minutes to eat your apple. Let me know if you’re interested in one.
I too saw the segment on with Dr. Cham using the BEC5. I did use it and although it says use a dollup on the spot to be treated after a while I had difficulty applying to that exact spot as you are directed to do. Needless to say thing got a bit out of control and I had no one to consult with. What I ended up with was a very smooth patch, no raised bumps or dry scaley spots. It is a bit darker than the rest of the surrounding skin area. The really raised bump that I was going after was significantly reduced but not entirely gone and a huge reduction in the burning and itching. My Dermatologist was really surprised by what had happened. So after a bit of a break I will repeat treatment but this time I think I will mark or tape of my area to be treated and see if that keeps things under control.
No Problem! memmlv@comcast.net
I must say I’m a little confused after reading this as, previously, I’ve seen numerous articles suggesting that it isn’t the sun at all the causes skin cancer. Also, I’m sure that in one of the episodes of TTAC one of the doc’s, I forget his name, stated that the sun doesn’t cause cancer. Given that the sun has been around for many thousands of years and cancer rates, say 100 years ago, were a fraction of what they are now does this not suggest the sun is not the problem? More evidence is that remote island communities barely even knew what cancer was until they became westernised….and they are in some of the hottest areas of the world! Interested to hear comments from you guys!
Finally, can anyone recommend where I can get a safe sun tan lotion here in the UK? Many thanks, Dave.
How do you know they were BCC? Sounds like a Seborrheic Keratosis to just fall off like that. No tanning is good for you. Removing grains does not prevent skin cancer from coming just because you burn less. Cover up with SPF clothing or use sunscreen and stay in the shade. Your skin will thank you as you age. Less wrinkles, age spots and skin cancers. I cut things off of people all day long in our dermatology office. A lot of regret of sun exposure in these folks.
Yes, I understand the seriousness of my melanoma in-situ diagnosis, I have read the stories. I was looking for clarification on obtaining healthy vitamin D amounts – not being scared more than I already am.
My friends and I have used black salve very successfully. Mine on an eyelid, and friends on arms (including one that had a root going between two muscles 4cm long), behind ears, back etc. When they come out the root underneath can look a bit like a tooth. I have also read a link between chemical sunscreens and skin cancer and polyunsaturated oils and skin cancer.

Wow, how debased can the OEHHA become? Demonising the most valuable resource we have against burn wounds, sun burn and sun-overexposure in general. Aloe Ferox, which is the African variety of Aloe Vera, is an unbelievably amazing plant. When used to treat burn wounds, it brings healing so rapidly that it starts bordering on the miraculous. Applying aloe based products to your skin will not give you colon cancer! Naturally it’s a very bitter plants, so you if you eat it you’ll be sorry, due to the taste. But applying externally and ingesting are two quite different things!
Hey Ti, the way that this system doesn’t add the reply to a post where it belongs, but at the bottom, makes it seriously broken. Can this we fixed? Responding to someone’s post should add it right below that post, not at the end.
I responded to William Brooks, but look at where this response is now!
Sorry, meant to say “Hey Ty…”
Hi, Good article promoting healthy eating as a way of preventing melanoma and sun damage. I am fair skinned and we don’t get much sun in Ireland but when I get away to sunnier climates I take ‘Beta Carotene’ for a month or two before I go. My body copes much better with the sun and I don’t burn the way I normally would. Usually come away with a nice healthy glow, no burning/peeling etc. For me this is a more direct approach for dealing with sun exposure. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned in the article though it is a supplement, however, drinking carrot juice daily would have the same effect.
For Mary,
thank you for your email. I will write to you later when I have more time.. (DDS today)

This is an answer for Lyn on the use of BLACK SALVE.
yes it has a healing quality to it because of the bloodroot herb in it. I used it on my carcinoma (before I knew it was cancer) and I think had I started using it earlier(as I had that “mole” for 2 years before I went to the Dr.) I would have healed completely. it started shrinking but my friend convinced me I needed to see the dermatologist..
I am not well informed on all of it’s many uses but as a child, my holistic grandfather used it on me for any number of skin difficulties and I always healed. the FDA will not comment on it as they are about making money using drugs and not healing people…I hope this was informative and not wishy washy as it is early and I have to get ready to leave for the day.
Leigh
Thank you Leigh, I have used it successfully in the past and am currently treating one on my shin which is having a fairly severe reaction.
There was a lot of positive results on this type of cancer using lavender essential oil applied few time a day on affected skin.
I’m confused…are you saying Aloe Vera is harmful? Should I stay away from all aloe Vera products? My family drinks aloe water. I thought this was a good healthy choice. Am I wrong?
Thanks A Jones. I appreciate your thoughtful comments as a melanoma survivor. All the best to you!
awesome article (and WONDERFUL photo) … thank YOU … and I am sharing at Tumblr and Facebook
If using that stuff on your age spots or moles and getting them taken off professionally your not knowing if there cancerous
Thank you all for your information although all the different ideas have me a little swirling! I have a spot that I’m pretty sure is melanoma but don’t have insurance so can’t check for sure. I live in WA state, but grew up in FL and spent every day at the beach! My parents have both had alot removed before they passed. Maybe quick suggestion of what I can easily purchase to try? So many of the natural plants seem to be more native to where the person lives. THANKS!!
Karen, Call social services and ask them for free clinics there should be some free clinics in Washington somewhere hopefully you wouldn’t have to drive very far. I would do that you need to get that checked out
Steph,
it is so hard to eliminate sugar from your diet when you first try, but after you have done it, you will find it not that hard. the first thing is to look for a stevia product that does not contain sugar as you are right, some do. without being able to talk with you face to face like I do most people that I help, I would suggest you go to “whole foods” or any reputable health and nutrition store that carries whole unprocessed foods and nutrients. If you do not have any of those stores near an easy start might be to eliminate all products from your pantry that are in a package or can and eat only whole natural foods: broccoli, beets(not in the can), beans, bananas, cantaloupe, apples, tomatoes. any foods that are not processed. I hope this helps. my family too has all died from cancer including my only brother at a young age.
Leigh
Thank you Leigh.
Aren’t sunscreens made from minerals instead of toxic chemicals okay to use?
Does it work similar to the eggplant? Or, BEC 5 cream?
In reply/response to Dave about the opinions of some, that sun does not cause cancer, I agree. we have to ask ourselves what is different? TOXINS TOXINS AND MORE TOXINS.i can expound on this but do not want to voice my opinion based on my holistic thinking and training unless anyone cares to hear my thoughts..
I’m allergic to the Sun I get a rash little bumps little like blisters on my arms and sometimes my nose my toes what kind of sunscreen can I use does anybody know thank you Jodi
Trishala, I have used Petty Spurge (Euphorbia Peplus) for several years. I ordered the seeds from the UK. It is amazing how it will attack abnormal skin cells, but leave normal skin alone. It will search and destroy the tissue, but amazingly heals up to leave no scars or very minimal. Love this weed!
I am in my eighties and have been to more than twenty countries including island nations I have been exposed to the sun in many of theses countries from as far south as New Zealand to as far north as the Denmark Straits and have never used any kind of sunscreen and never had skin cancer.I am convinced in my own mind that what happens on the outside of the body (namely the skin) is more a result of what goes into and goes on inside of the body. I have no scientific knowledge or education in the cause of skin cancer only my own experience. I wonder how many people out there have similar life experience and results’
George,
I agree with what you have observed……. with no skin cancer. that begs the question, how and why do we get skin cancer? I would hedge a bet that something called stress plays a huge role………..stress from the toxins we ingest and place on our skin(makeup?) to the internal stressors we all have………..For me, I was so shocked when I was diagnosed with skin cancer that it is now making me wonder. does anyone have any comments or advise? thank you everyone for this great site.
Leigh Renee….
I reckon you are right , IMO anyway ! An other factor maybe health as an infant. I just survived birth (major stress) and have had recurring infections, respiratory and gut, all my life, even though we had heaps of chem free food grown at home. but vaccines? and Al and other 20th century stuff . So my guess is that my immune system was always low, particularly vitamin D. For the last 5 years or so have had plenty BCCs , mbe a few SCCs and mbe a Mello on the shin currently. It is going as my system chases it , after using the Ecuador black paste to uncloak them baddies. Giving lots of support with Zn, Se, C, D, gucosamine, fishoil, B complex… and a fairly clean diet, zero grains and sugar . Will add some curcumin soon also, but having fresh tumeric currently.
cheers Lemac
To Leigh mac, please tell,me why we cannot have grains??? I’m confused about that one. Some people say no grains and others say yes for grains. Thanks jodi
Thank you Tie for your efforts in raising awareness about cancers prevention..focusing on nutrition role.unfortunately ,medical schools don”t teach us these information.God bless you. Suheir Raies, Greeting from Syria
hi mark i am in australia for the moment where do u get radium weed ? in nature at what time of the year ? or can u get it from hebal shop ?i am in sydney
Hi Eve, sorry I only just got your reply now. It is literally a weed growing all over the place. It tends to die back at this time of year, but I’m still finding it in park gardens and footpaths etc, if it’s in a sunny spot. Go to this site and it will give you lots of information as well as pictures so you can recognise it. http://www.radiumweed.com.au/
Hi everyone, this is my first post. There is something that I wanted to say re the rising rates of skin cancer. Firstly the sun doesn’t cause cancer. It is what we put on our skin, our bodies and the environment as a whole. Let me explain, every product that you can think of ie, deodorants, skin creams/moisturisers be face or body, soap, air freshner , house cleaning products, cosmetic products , hair products ALL the plastics that hold these products , paper receipts, it is all manufactured with chemicals and it is those chemicals that cause cancer, these are all foreign and toxic to our bodies. Imagine putting a chemical cocktail of ingredients on your body before you go out in the sun what do you think will happen, how do you think your skin will react, the same goes for all the chemicals and synthetic products/ packaged foods we eat. How do you think our insides will react over time to these foreign compounds. Just look at our environment all the air pollution form vehicles, planes in the air, all the emissions, the pesitcides and herbisides that are sprayed around on our crops (these are all synthetic chemicals) winds, currents make sure that this is conventiently spread around. I highly recommend you google a Dr Robert Cassar and read/listen his view about the sun and this methadology on “G-washing”, this is a very old custom that old cultures do, it’ a ritual of washing your skin of all impurities removing all the build up of gunk on your body which impairs it’s ability for function properly. It’s job is to protect us, absorb vitamin D, breathe. I have to say he is very extreme but it simply makes sense.
Jodi, please do not exceed your natural burn time. Mine is 7 minutes. I don’t usually use sun cream now. This is because my best advice (after I had 2 early stage melanomas removed) was to avoid being in the sun between 10 and 4, seek the shade, wear a hat, avoid glare, do NOT sunbathe. Know your burn time. Tanning only occurs after you have actually burnt your skin.
Having said that, we also need to harness the good Ray’s to synthesise essential vitamin d. This cannot be done through sunscreen, and you should be exposing back, face and arms during the UNSAFE hours for less than 20 minutes (not exceeding your own burn time). Note, it’s not stored in body long, so several times a week is good. I usually do this before noon, as the afternoon sun seems to burn quicker doesn’t it.
To A jones, if I’m out in the sun for 5 minutes within 1/2 hour I get a rash on my arms like little blisters then I have to stay out of the sun til it’s gone or cover my arms. Which is what I usually do. I do try to get out a couple times they out the day for at least 5 To 10 min. But I do have this natural sunscreen I found on line so when it’s super hot wear it cuz we like to go fishing, but we do not stay in the sun very long, since it’s so humid here most of the summer.can’t handle the heat anymore and I’m only 54???? Thanks jodi
Jodi you are super sensitive. Try a cool natural cotton long-sleeved shirt when fishing, wear a big brimmed hat, remember to cover or cream your hands (I would look at a zinc based cream which shows white, is obvious when it wears off, same as zinc used on baby bottoms!), and don’t forget that water is reflecting that sun just as bad as the beach sand. Blisters indicate you were in sun too long.????Keep on trying to get it right.
A Jones. I will thanks I appreciate it have a good day☺☺ jodi
Yep! I use a few tablespoons of baking soda, a few of vinegar, a pea size drop of dish soap and water. Soak your fruits and veggies in this for a couple minutes and rub them clean with your hands then rinse and dry.
Tera, can you not put the dish soap in there as they have toxin in them too??
You need a blood screen for Vitamin D levels. I had the same problem and when my Vitamin D levels were checked, it was found that they were below the minimum level. After a short term (one year) of intense Vitamin D3 supplementation (without calcium added !!!) plus a higher fat diet (vitamin D is a fat soluble molecule and there are receptors on every cell in your body!) I can go out in the sun with no real consequences. People also need to know that if they grow up as teenagers in a sunny clime, their need for sun to enhance their levels later in life is increased. Too low Vit D levels cause inflammation. You can try taking Vitamin D3 with full fat yoghurt plus probiotics for a few months? Early morning and afternoon sunshine should be fine and cover up when it’s really hot between 11am and 2pm. Don’t forget that sunlight bouncing off buildings and glass etc. is also high UV so a hat and cover up if sitting in this type of light also. Women who cover their bodies are very prone to low levels and all the associated inflammation.
Katy, I did the same thing I need blood test and a little low on but D so I started cut D3 with valium. Then the next time I tested it came up. But now I found that my vit has yechy things in it so I stopped using them. Point I’m allergic to the sun. Aspeascially my arms for some reason. I need find this sunscreen that’s natural and I’ve been using that . it’s been good. But if I don’t use it and I’m in the sun for 5 minutes I break out. ????????
Thanks Jodi
cold laser, also known as LLLT , has promising results for Vitiligo .. Can check on lasertherapyu.org or pubmed.com and search a bit . best wishes.
there seems to be a few different mixes of herbs used so probably varying results. The herbs can be bought from ebay with no problems. Or the product from Ecuador seems to work well . Only one application is used then it must be washed off after 24 hrs, or perhaps less. Like other plant products it seems to ‘uncloak’ cancer cells so that ones own immune system will then immediately identify and attack. So an angry sore appears and slowly matures as first the bad cells are tracked down and removed and then the site heals over. A strict anti cancer diet and lots of immune support are probably very helpful also ! I imagine research is only clinical and personal trials. But one could search on pubmed.com
Please help me understand something. I was told that citrus essential oils increase skin sensitivity to the sun and not to use them on exposed skin within 12 hours of heading out. In your article about Melanoma prevention, you advocate the use of lemon oil without any precautions about sun exposure. So either there is a risk of increased skin damage when existing skin with citrus oils or not…. Which is it?
Eat & drink what you want. Cancer is form of gene which every human has. Three out of 5 ppl have the good gene then there are the other 2ppl. Its in our genetics. As for ppl being cured thats just that original site till it re-emerges years later somewhere else.
What a complete load of nonsense that is Jules. If what you say is correct then why are cancer rates so much higher now than, say, 100 years ago when it was 1 in 30? Also, remote island populations had barely heard of cancer…it simply didn’t exist in their world….until they became westernised and cancer, heart disease etc….became rampant. To all intents and purposes cancer is a man made disease….down to poor diet as well as all the toxins are bodies are now constantly bombarded with. However, if you want to carry on eating what you like good luck to you!
I have not been able to read and reply to this site in quite a long time and have missed it. I have a new question for any one.
I have had skin cancer and many other health issues,,,,,,,,,,,this past week, I have been treating my tooth abscess/infection, as I will not have a root canal, with pure honey from the farmers mkt 3 times a day…..to that tsp. of the honey, I add a pinch of cinnamon, ginger and turmeric. the infection is gone and I do not have anymore pain………so…………do you think those herbals will help my general health? for me, I think it must be more than just eating no sugar, grains, gluten and dairy…..I have had some serious health issue since I was a child, Including lots of stress.. thank you in advance for your thoughts
Hi LR, have heard photobiomodulation therapy (child laser) has restored a tooth said to be needing a root canal! It can kill bugs and promote nerve growth. Some dentists and chiros and MDs etc use them. Been used for 50 years, even in animal husbandry. Vetrolaser! Bcure laser. Multi Radiance. Laser Therapy U. And pubmed is useful, but, not all trials use same dose or power or treatment time. You may also want to check PS, either homeophathic or ‘Celloid’, for s stubborn old infections. Cheers
To Jules if you have been watching the TTAC videos you will understand that that genetics has only approx a 5% bearing on the chances of developing cancer, what is clear is the effects of epigenetics which is our environment and surrounds including everything from food, to air pollution, water pollution etc. It is how we live our lives with the toxicity that surrounds us. Genetics roleplay is minute.
Just Leigh Renee again. I have not seen any response to my honey, turmeric, ginger and cinnamon post probably because it was not interesting, but I just wanted to tell you that I believe the turmeric is what has helped me so much, I now take curcumin, which is turmeric, in capsule form. I take 2200 mg a day sometimes more…………I believe it is one of the better natural ways to heal………what are your thoughts?
Hi mark i just saw your post. Where can u get this from I live in Australia.
Hi Alex, The Radium Weed grows all over the place but tends to die back in winter unless it is in a protected spot under another plant or protected by a wall etc. Go here http://www.radiumweed.com.au/ to get pictures and all the info you need to check it out.
My apologies Alex, you did specify ‘where’ could you get some Radium Weed, and to be honest I have just gone looking for it and used it fresh from wherever I found it on my walks, breaking small pieces off, and as the white oil comes out I spread it onto my ‘growth’ twice a day.
As for purchasing some, I can only recommend searching with google to try to find some. I have ‘heard’ that they have made creams from it, but I have not come across any at this time.
I am in the process of growing some, just grab a plant in the wild (at least 6 inches high (it is only a small plant)), and put it into a plastic bag to take home, and then take the plant out and drop the plant on top of your pot of plant growing mixture, it drops seeds all over the place, you can barely see them they are so small. And because it is winter, you will need a good sunny spot next to a brick wall or something that keeps it from the cold elements and keeps the heat in. Possibly cover it in plastic like a green house affect to give it a chance to grow. In summer it just takes off and you will see many babies starting off from under the adult plant, that is why they call it a weed, it grows and spreads like crazy, but it is not classified as a true weed where they have to spray it everywhere.
I hope this, and the site, can give you enough information to get you going.
I think My skin cancer is back in the same place but I am not sure……….so I am thinking the Physicians assistant that removed it did not get it all……….or perhaps I am paranoid……when I went back and saw the Dermatologist shortly after he came back from vacation(why I had to have the PA instead of him remove it), he said it is fine and the spot on my forehead is just the scar from removing it……that was 3 months ago after it was removed…………(now that “scar” is scaly and it appears to be growing). am not sure if i should go back to that office but do not know what to do……….Rick Scott talked of aldara cream but I do not know where to buy it………. or could it be just the scar? I have to admit I am frightened. thank you for any response.
Leigh Renee
To Leigh Renee. I can suggest two things that could help. If interested, please email me at graham00130@aol.com.
Hi Leigh Renee, Leigh M here. Outside in removal is not activating immune response. The 4 or 5 herb mix in cansema salve from Ecuador totally uncloakes bad cells, so they can be chased down from inside out! Currently am taking 90Mg curcumin, trials are using 2or 4times that dose, good results. Sulphur helps chase and kill baddies all through the body. PS (as in Blackmores Colloids) is recommended for old stubborn infections. High S foods are always suggested eh? And fermented foods for gut repair. MgS in water, 2:1,,can be applied topically to assist m muscles and whole body, or as a bath soak. Vit D synthesis need Mmg, cholesterol, B6 +12, and folate, plus sunlight, and, a healthy body ????Keep up the good work!
Õops, phone keeps adding letters ????, should be *muscles, and *Mg
Tania, I agree with you about all the toxic, synthetic chemicals that we are exposed to are the reason for all the cancers. It is so plain to see but my family doesn’t care to avoid these chemicals as I do. My husband has had many basal cell carcinomas removed from his body but he won’t do anything natural to avoid cancers, he now is afraid of being in the sun and uses chemical sunscreen! Some people just refuse to learn!
This article does a lot to advance the reality that there is nuance to sun care and to melanoma, which is more common in indoor workers than in outdoor workers. But there are two statements that I’d like to clarify:
1) The amount of vitamin D one makes per-minute in the sun depends on your skin type. A darker-skinned person may need 4-10 times as much sun exposure to manufacture the same amount of vitamin D as a fair skinned person. So your statement that, “On a clear sunny day, 15 minutes of sun exposure on the skin produces 2,000 to 4,000 IU of vitamin D for the body” needs clarification. Further, the time of day and time of year in which you receive that sun (if your shadow is longer than your body, for instance, you won’t make much vitamin D at all) are also factors. November to March (October to April in Canada) is referred to as “Vitamin D Winter” — you won’t make any vitamin D outdoors in the sun then. Other factors: How much skin you are exposing (if it is just your face and hands, you will not make 2,000-4,000 IU in 15 minutes, as you suggested). Further, if you are wearing sunscreen you can cut that number by 90-98 percent — it blocks almost all the UVB your skin needs to make vitamin D).
2) Your statement that “vitamin D synthesis is not possible from artificial light forms such as tanning beds” is not accurate. Vitamin D production takes place when we expose our skin to ultraviolet-B (UVB) emitted in sunlight and by the vast majority of sunbeds used in indoor tanning salons. While the North American indoor tanning industry conducts indoor tanning as a cosmetic service and acknowledges that you may not need to get a tan to produce vitamin D, an undeniable physiological side effect of this service is that indoor tanning clients manufacture vitamin D as a result of indoor tanning sessions. Peer-reviewed studies have established that sunbed users typically have significantly higher vitamin D levels (ajcn.nutrition.org/content/80/6/1645.long) when compared with non-tanners. One Canadian study showed that sunbed users in Canada have the highest vitamin D levels (publichealthjrnl.com/article/S0033-3506(10)00061-2/abstract?cc=y=) in that country, and that most Canadians are vitamin D deficient. Still other studies have generated similar results. Even though vitamin D production is triggered by UVB exposure, it’s important to remember that natural sunlight is mostly UVA – just like most sunbeds. The UV portion of mid-day summer sunlight is made up of about 95% UVA light and 5% UVB light. The majority of tanning lamps in sunbeds emit essentially the same mixture, but with higher intensity, usually 2-3 times more intense, which is why you only spend 5-20 minutes in most sunbeds, based on the relative intensity of its light.
Sunburn prevention means something different for a fair-skinned person of northern heritage than it does for a darker-skinned person with tropical ancestry. That’s part of the nuance that is missing in a lot of sun care today. Thank you for your article.
Black salve /cansema from Ecuador, is only applied for 24hours, or even less on shallow lesions. Then gently washed off with finger tip. It will be sore if it is a problem spot. Then leave alone, until black scab forms, then leave alone till I it drops off. Take lots of nutrient support and sulphur rich foods. Avoid sugars and sugar releasing foods /grain carbs. If top delicate skin cover does get removed open wound can be beautifully covered by sap from ‘ sow thistle ‘ ‘ purge weed’, etc, it leaves a nice brown layer. And your own immune cells will track down an remove bad cells, mainly through your lymph system. You may feel unwell, because you are recuperating! So be kind to yourself, rest, laugh, clean water, high nutrient intake, but perhaps less food than normal.. Scab drops off in 5days to 6weeks, depends on size and depth of problem. And stay warm, hyperthermia is used for recovery, just don’t cook too long – lol. And, keep talking to natural health people, even email manufacturers as they often have advice service (just don’t mention cancer as they are not allowed to comment on that, keep it on general health /recovery questions). Smiling Mind app helps life also ????
(from my experience and questioning)
We are learning and living and sharing life, this page is great!
to Leigh Mac
so as not to ignore the concerns of others, would you like to email me privately? or me you?
if not that is ok too.
thank you , Leigh Renee
This is a thank You to Leigh Mac for her suggestion on laser therapy for the tooth in need of a root Canal. I am not sure of the site you suggested….I also live in a state, in my opinion, that is about 25 years behind the time in medical issues……….you suggested I check ps. can you tell me what that is? I myself am so techno challenged. sorry………..I just learned how to text. LOL
Leigh Renee
Hi,, sorry, Potassium Sulphate. blackmores.com.au. Sites in the US sell it. S, Silica, is the other one. I like also to search on mercola.com, and greenmedinfo.com.
Hope that helps. PS. I’d steer clear of aldara personally, apparently it is a chemo drug. But, I know someone who was glad how it cleared her complexion! lol
thank you Leigh Mac from Leigh Renee
I have used black salve on my basal cell and squamous cell cancers on my face, arms, legs, hands and upper body with great success. The biggest squamous cell cancer was about 10 mm across and it was on my leg above the ankle and after I used 2 overnight applications of black salve ( or by another name, cansema cream and also sold as ‘spirit cleanser’ to avoid problems from authorities trying to clamp down on so called illegal pharmaceuticals) the cancer turned into a pussy mess and continued to get bigger and deeper until about 1 week later and then it started to form a big scab. It was about 20 mm across by this stage but as the scab started to form more of a solid mass, it got a bit itchy at times but after another 2 weeks the scab came away and left soft raw patch that formed another sort of light scab and a week later what was a huge hole and about 20 mm across at one time now became new pink skin with hardly a change in the profile of the skin in that area. No indication of where the pusy hole was and a year later there is now barely any evidence of where it was and I have to look very hard to find it.
Mostly I have used it on BC cancers or sun spots of various types. I have found it works on my face using small amounts applied at least overnight under a bandaid or plaster for small ones or longer for larger ones. If the salve is applied to skin not affected by a cancer it does nothing but if it is cancerous you can feel a reaction almost immediately and it will be felt during the time you leave the cancer in contact with the salve and while it is healing. Depending on the size of the area treated you may need to leave it on for longer.
Having used the prescription cream Aldara before the Black salve is much better and much cheaper. The worst problem with Aldara apart from the cost was that it had to be applied every day for two weeks. Black salve is usually effective after 24 hours of contact and heals at about the same rate as Aldara after the application has stopped.
The Black salve was readily available over the internet if you googled it but it has been almost impossible to get for a few years now.
Hope this helps you! I also know of a friend who uses milk weed on his sun cancer spots and he swears by its ability to cure his cancer spots.
Hi Paul, I prefer to use water , a finger tip that I keep wetting, to remove all the cansema paste . Some people have ended up with very angry and very painful skin problems from leaving it on too long.
Apparently the herbal paste works by simply changing the bad cells membranes so one’s own body can then ‘see’ the bad cells, and then gradually eat them with the immune system . I think because of this big immune system reaction , I have felt ill , even ‘fluey’ , with a couple of larger responses. Have you had anything like that?
Cheers
Where do you get the milk weed??
Take an aspirin every day sounds like prickly heat rash
I do exactly the same thing and have for very many years.I full body tan for 90 min. a day at noon in Nova Scotia.Of course I work up to that amount when first starting in the spring,go until light pink color,NEVER burn and shower before exposure so the skin oils stay on and promote the synthesis of D.
I have been using the black salve and it is working. also I am wondering if anyone is following a special way of eating daily?
I try to do organic but that is so hard as the grocery (Publix) does not carry much……….is there a company that will deliver meals that are organic and nutritious?(at prices a normal person can afford)? thank you for your thoughts
Check out the Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle at myhdiet.com. It is the best I know of for healthy eating. Hallelujah Acres has thousands of testimonies. Their main effective product is BarleyMax. If you order from them, please give my Pin # FQS. Thanks. Pat Graham
I’m so glad that you mention that you still should expose yourself to safe amounts of sunlight. I have a friend that generally avoids spending time outdoors because she has very fair skin and burns easily. However, we finally talked to her about the need for Vitamin D and have been getting her to go outside a little more often. I’ll have to remember the optimum time-frame of 8-24 minutes you mentioned so I can let her know! Thanks for the great article!
Hi, yep I used high strength curcumin to help with a deep SCC (probably) on my shin. While healing it brought up several other spots further down my leg and foot. Was glad no movement up the leg. It took about 3 months to really settle down and resulted in a depression in the front of the shin about 2 inches long and 1/8th deep. Very glad to not need help from those with bone saws !
Perhaps could have also used coloidal silver to stop any secondary infections. (your tooth good now?)
The whole process caused a general cleansing improvement in respiratory/sinus areas and gut also. Getting there !
This sounds amazing! I have a BCC on my nose and have tried several things, including cannabis oil and curaderm, but it hasn’t totally cleared it up. Can you tell me if there is a brand of frankincense I should buy, did you cover it with a plaster or micro pore and any other information I should know? The dermatologist is very keen to get out the scalpel and I won’t have it. Many thanks.
Hello Ty, can you please give some professional advice on how to identify and deal with what could potentially be a small skin cancer. I have watched some of the series and know that biopsy is not necessarily recommended. What can I do please.
Thank you
Hi Megan,

BE5 can prove to be a very expensive and painful option. The problem is you don’t know how big the damage is below the surface once you start using it you’re almost obliged to continue and it can be very painful if you end up with a very large ulcer-like lesion needing one whole tube of the cream every 5days…feeling like an intense burn after each application, the pain lasting for 15, 40 mins and you’re supposed to use it at least twice a day.
That does sound distressing in many ways! At least with topical black salve it is a one only application for 24 hours, then very gently wash off, then a somewhat painfull cooking off time while the immune system deals with it, but at least it is automatic ! Just may need extra vitamins C,D,A and Zinc for support. After the scab falls off it heals up in a very tidy manner, there may be a small scar, but thn surgery leaves one also and it may need plastic skin surgery, but it can also work wonders for those that chose it.

When I take supplements with vit D my finger joints start swelling up. I was suggested to take only K2. How do I supplement my body now with all the essential nutrients, every supplement includes D3 these days which is a good thing though. Any suggestions please?
