The late Dr. Nicholas James Gonzalez, M.D., was a New York-based physician known for developing the Gonzalez regimen (or Gonzalez protocol), an alternative cancer treatment. An innovator in natural cancer treatments, Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude with a degree in English Literature. He subsequently worked as a journalist at Time Inc. before pursuing premedical studies at Columbia University, and then later receiving his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1983. During a postgraduate immunology fellowship under Dr. Robert A. Good, considered by many to be the father of modern immunology, Dr. Gonzalez completed a research study evaluating an aggressive nutritional therapy in the treatment of advanced cancer. From 1987 until his death on July 21, 2015, Dr. Gonzalez was in private practice in New York City, treating patients diagnosed with cancer and other serious degenerative illnesses, with nutrition, enzymes, and detoxification. Dr. Gonzalez passed away on July 21, 2015.
