In one study, Dr. Stuart Nunnally, DDS, MS, reported that over the course of three years, all 87 patients who had undergone a root canal procedure reported a decline in health.

I have a so called “dead” tooth in my mouth. It is the front left tooth. It is discolored and very noticeable. It happened when I was ten years old with a trauma to the front tooth. I am now 54 and after seeing several dentists wanting to put in a root canal, with inside bleaching then filling, I decided to see a biological dentist. They still reccomend pulling the tooth, but then doing an implant. The cost is 6,000. I did opt for the most expensive. My question to you is this. My health is good, I read all the time about how to eat right, exercise and take care of myself. But I have no pain in the tooth and no infection. Do I panic and say, well since it is considered “dead” does it really need to be extracted? I don’t have a job just starting a small business, and don’t have that kind of money, at least not in the near future.

By removing a root canal, do you mean having the tooth pulled?
Rita, if you had trauma to your tooth and didn’t have a root canal due to that trauma. Your nerve inside that tooth could have died causing the discolor and possible infection (abscess)due to a died nerve. There could be non-existent, mild, or serve pain associated with a died nerve. If you are not for a root canal, have you looked into pulling the tooth and possibly putting in a bridge instead of an implant.
Today I had two root canal teeth removed! I have been in pain since January unless I took a natural product called inner defense or RC! I had a dentist tell me my root canals where perfect! NOT they were full of disease, bacteria and decay!!! Also caused the infection to effect the tooth in the middle so it had to go too! Could not do implants have to wait for the bone to heal! When I do I will do the zirconium implants! So yes I would say remove them I have heard 85% of people with cancer have a root canal! It will effect your he health. Please consider this, I have an appointment this coming Tuesday, Feb. 16th, for a cleaning of 2 older root canals. After reading this, I am very concerned as to whether to cancel, or not. I have had pain on and off for about 6 months. I live in Mexico, and we don’t have the level of biological dentists available here, so I’m wondering what to do. I tried to reply to Karen of Feb 21 but reply didn’t show. Read the book “The Root Canal Coverup” by Dr. George Meinig, ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE ENDODONTIC ASSOCIATION! On Mercury fillings, read “It’s All in Your Head” by Hal Huggins. My dentist talked me into two root canals. One later got infected and a dentist pulled it with no side effects. My mouth was so infected that the dentist considered sending a biopsy to the dental school. In two weeks after pulling my dentist couldn’t believe it was the same mouth. But I can’t talk my mate of 6 years to have a root canal and an amalgam filling removed even though she has tinnitus and trigeminal nerve pain in her cheek.
P.S. Don’t get a titanium implant – metal in the mouth is not good. Get zirconium implant; it’s long wearing (like in a ring) and it’s not metal. I was sending my daughter to a dental school until I learned they were still teaching and using amalgams and root canals. It’s all about money and not your welfare.

Hi Love your work Thankyou, I have been told by my dentist that I have significant bone loss in my bottom jaw and should consider implants. I have read that this is as dangerous as a root canal, which I have had removed. I have looked at ceramic implants online, but we don’t have any dentist’s using them in Australia. Also wondering what seed planting to regrow bone loss is and is it a natural substance? I would love to see an article on this topic as well. Hi, I’ve got oral cancer after having a root canal done, and after that I had an implant at the same place. I had to remove my implant after 5 years, the cancer spread to my tongue and under my tongue. I went through surgery, chemo and radiation, removed 1/3 of my tongue, it was very harsh treatment, my speech and voice are not the same how it used to be before treatment. One year after treatment this cancer came back at the same place. I still hope that I can cure it with another kind of radiation – brachytherapy. First of all, I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this. Have any doctors told you to cut all sugar out of your diet? Sugar, it’s found, feeds all cancers. My daughter put me onto a series of specials about cancer and ways to treat it and it’s sure not with the chemo and radiation. That is how doctors were taught to treat cancers. Well, most of them. There is a clinic in Mexico that treats cancer with holistic medicine with HUGE success. Please consider dropping the sugar and read, read, read! I just wanted to comment on your great comment. I would love to know out of all the patients in the book with the root canals had an amalgam filing prior to the root canal. The amalgam has mercury and increases the risk of cancer. Was a study done showing patients with root canals due to an amalgam filing with decay under vs just decay in the tooth?

I had my one and only root canal done in 2008. After 6 years of suffering from various “mystery” pains, and doing lots of research, discovered that my root canal might be the culprit. Unfortunately, did not have it done by a Biological Dentist, so a “cavitation” developed in the extraction site. I live in Wisconsin and found a biologic/holistic dentist. My mercury fillings were leaking and a root canal was painful. He first removed all mercury fillings and had me tested for all compatible materials for me. After testing the root canal he thought he could save it with ozone therapy instead of removing it. I consented to 3 ozone therapy treatments and I am sooo glad I did!! This was November 2015 and my mouth and general health is much improved. I also have a retainer that I enjoy wearing and doesn’t hurt my mouth. My old retainer bothered me so much I quit wearing it. There are many links available at these sites and I researched all of them more than once and checked references. I was very concerned about cost as I lost my dental insurance. I was surprised. Thank you for your support. After I discovered that I have an oral cancer, I was researching a lot. I know all about sugar, that it feeds the cancer, and I am not sweets lover, I can live without cakes and ice cream. I am juicing and taking lots of anti cancer supplements available online. I already contacted clinic in Mexico. It is very expensive, out of my pocket, I simply cannot afford it. I have a good health insurance, they paid almost $400,000 to Mayo Clinic for my treatment but they will not not cover any of alternative treatment expenses.
When you come to the point that you cannot wait, and counting days to get the surgery done because you are so much in pain, believe me you’ll do whatever it takes to stop the pain. It is not just sore pain, it is nerve pain, which pain relievers do not suppress.
Radiation really kills the cancer, I’ve got very bad pain relief about 10 days after I started the treatment. Of course then I’ve started to have another pain from radiation, which is different, but very strong also. Morphine helped, but then you get addicted to it, and it is very difficult to stop using it.
I forgot to mention, that all treatment time the G-tube was my only way to receive the liquid food through the stomach (was not pleasant experience either). But I was able to do it, I did. I should not let doctors to use chemo. It just kills almost every cell in your body.

Google the oil name for sources available. Be sure to research how the oil is prepared and if it is clinical grade. A lot of essential oils you see at craft stores are fragrance quality and not recommended for ingestion.

I had an abcess a long time ago & had to have an emergency root canal. It got infected again last year & I had to have the root canal redone. I’m now really worried. This discussion is ridiculous. Yes, maybe 97% of his patients did have a root canal but 92% of the US adult population has had a cavity filled or a root canal. That is pretty much everybody! Most of us should have cancer according to this claim. Of course there is going to be a lot of people with cancer AND root canals if a large percentage of the population has had a root canal!

I have not heard of “zerconium” inmplants…. but I’m guessing they’re expensive. I have a whole mouth full of root canals, only 1 that bothers me….

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I lost my husband 7 years ago to prostate cancer supposedly. My husband believed and trusted his dentist. Every 6 months he gets called for a check-up and every visit something is always wrong with his teeth considering he was a fanatic on oral health. Slowly he started getting root canals done, 3 in 3 years at a price – all our savings went to his teeth. Two years later his PSA levels went up and was told that he had prostate cancer. After a few snips and blood tests he was earmarked for 7 weeks of radiotheraphy. I was not happy with his treatment but he trusted his doctor. Half way through the radiation, he finally admitted that he wished he had never went through with it. He told me that the treatment had practically burnt his insides alive. To shorten the story, 6 months later his red and white cells and platelets were declining rapidly resulting in him requiring blood transfusion every second day. He was admitted into hospital for a procedure to check his bone marrow which I was never privy to the information. As I read and research a lot on the internet as well as a member of the Health Science Institute USA, I knew what was happening but it was too late. By this time my husband was classified a leukemia patient and within a few weeks all blood transfusions stopped. According to the hospital he suffered renal failure and died from pneumonia. For the information of the readers, my husbands 3 root canals all turned black weeks before his death.

I have a friend choosing to treat her melanoma in a holistic manner & she gets so much grief from her friends/family b/c it’s not mainstream or the recommended treatment. Look into the Hal Huggins protocol. Implants regardless of what type you use are a dead non native to the body material that open a pathway for bacteria to enter the jaw. you can’t clean under an implant. Failed implant stories are not ones of longevity. Have root candled teeth removed and go with non metal non invasive removables. The human body doesn’t like having foreign materials in it. Yes, Steve…good suggestion. Also, an out of print book you may find a lot of disturbing information in is by a ruined (by the AMA and ADA) dentist named Robert Kulacz, D.D.S. called The Roots Of Disease. It goes into extreme detail about all of the “unknown” issues that the AMA and ADA don’t want you to know about particularly about the improper extraction of teeth which lead to cavitations which are gangrenous pockets left in the jaw where the tooth was due to the improper cleaning of the extraction site( failure to remove the periodontal ligament that the tooth was rooted into which subsequently rots and the presence of which signals to the body that the tooth is still there so that the jaw bone only heals around it rather than becoming solid bone). The problem with this can easily be grasped when one thinks about how gangrene is traditionally treated in an extremity. If the rot can’t be healed then the limb is removed! Cut off the head? Think not. So, imagine the implant post being placed in the spot where the improperly pulled tooth was…..going through the cavitation( gangene pocket) where the brainwashed (appropriate term) dentist or oral surgeon (as opposed to the dentists who recognized they were brainwashed or for the sake of people who automatically turn away from that term as they would conspiracy, mis-informed and then de-brainwashed and re-informed themselves) belived everything was just fine! I can already imagine the eyes rolling in ignoramuses(again, appropriate wording as we are all one about some subjects) heads (including the afforementioned mis-informed dentists). It is truly a disturbing scenario but we should all wake up and recognize that we have been lied to about virtually everything…so question, question ,question and then research for yourself. I agree with everything you said about root canals. I read “The Root Canal Coverup” but have not found one dentist who has read it or cares to read it. There is too much money for the endodontist. Out of 3500 cancer patients interviewed, 70% had a root canal – not 100% so there must not be a connection?
Dead stuff in the mouth can be removed or you can be hard core on cleaning your mouth by using peroxide mouthwash, then baking soda to brush and the baking soda kills off cancer but you need to do it like brushing regular. Even toothpaste with fluoride kills germs, but I would use peroxide. Real bad infections from a very dead area take something deep in the teeth and I actually have to use a needle like for a shot and put a dab of eugenol (in red cross toothdrops to get near the infected area but it always works. I’ve been at this for years since the dentists were murder’s, for their student loans and spending is high they drill and mercury everyone something ghastly and my mom kept sending us to help pay the dentists bills…such is life, I wouldn’t give a dentist a thought in hell much less a penny. If everybody in America took out their implants, dentures and veneers (removable cosmetic looks only teeth), the rest of the world running to America where “white people have all the money” would realize what’s going on here. This country takes in whiners running from hard times like no money in highly populated overbreeded areas and gives them harder times or at least their descendants….whatever….they can find a way to extract money….The system tells them they are helping people and it’s good medical care but it’s not at all.
Most of the world in really super poor places has better teeth than Americans. Most Americans have dentures by 50 years old….this is truly murder.

I have things to kill ANY infection, and dirt poor drug addicts taught me a trick I had to use once that simple clorox kills off any mouth infection. Swish and spit. There’s also oil pulls…swishing and sucking and pushing oil around the teeth then spit it out after 5 minutes daily.

Children are far more susceptible to radiation damage than grownups because they are growing…anything growing get’s like 10 times the damage from the same radiation….Mutations in growing things are evident and serious.
Rotten teeth fall out on their own, and after about 10,000 to dentists for nothing by the time I was 30, I kept all my rotten stubs and I’m 60 now and I know for sure you just have to keep infections away…. but if you don’t clean the mouth on time, infections sure as heck set’s in on teeth especially if your are sipping at coffee with milk and sugar, milkshakes or any milk…for hours a day. Nursing bottle syndrome is a well known thing to look up how teeth can rot away in months from milk and sugar if your sipping.
Children are now turning up dead in the news from dental procedures…and they call it a risk factor…never mind they are all of them damaged and it shows up in health eventually no matter what….Dentists are no help at all. Everything they do is temporary, and artificial to a living body and useless except their only customers are people who want to look or feel like the still have real teeth for show or because they are stupid, ignorant and don’t have a clue how to keep their mouth disinfected.

I had a root canal done in 1997 and always had a problem with it I would develop fissures and the dentist would see it and never tell me anything about it. Well, 2011 I developed bacterial pneumonia, then a few months later strep throat never had these illnesses before, My dad was sick and I was blaming it all on that. I was run down. I read an article about root canals and got scared to death I had my tooth pulled because it was the last tooth on top. Well it was full of infection and they pulled this long thread looking thingy out of my gum only to realize it might have been a parasite. Well before I pulled the tooth I did a series of test blood work, ultra sound, ct scan MRi. Only to find a mass on my left kidney and my root canal was on my left side as well. I had kidney cancer they told me it was Type 1 Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma. I truly believe all this was caused by my root canal. I am having problems with a tooth now and I know I probably need a root canal needless to say I don’t know what to do because I just spent $1600 for a crown on that tooth. OMG this is some crazy crap!!!!!

I had 2 root canals done 3 years ago. The last 2 years ive been sick, had brain bleeding and swelling which the brain doctor had no idea why. Its been hell for the last 2 years with all kinds of problems all through out my body that none of the doctors i seen had any clue.
So i did my own research thanks to that netflix show and got those 2 teeth pulled last week. It still hurts haveing them ripped out. But that night i had no more headaches. Back of my neck pain was gone. The day after i fealt a lot better then i have in 2 years.
But the thing that pisses me off is they push the root canals on u and convince you its the best thing. Thats bs there only doing it for the money. No money in it for them to just pull the tooth so they do the root canals knowing there making people sick. But do the dentists care, nope they dont. And up here in canada you cant sue if its been longer then a year. But usually you dont have problems for some time after getting them done. In my case it worked out great for them. So people do your research because they will lie to you every time in order to make that allmighty dollar. Bottom line just pull the tooth and find a bio-dentist to do it it. Because regular dentists are trained not to pull your teeth even if there dead and full of bacteria. There lieing to everybody…….

Not all route canals are created equal if you have the tooth treated before infection sets in the prognosis will be much better because there is no lingering bacteria and the tooth is disinfected
When I was 12 I had a bicycle accident in which I smacked all my front teeth, have about 6-9 root canals but never seemed to have a problem with them. Absolutely impossible for me to have all those redone, and as they are my front teeth and lloking fairly good, I also would not really like to

I have had numerous root canals in my mouth.. One of the root canals on my left upper fractured and had to hav oot canal though the gum area.SURGERY. That also fractured years later 2015 and had to have 3 teeth removed and a sinus lift so the dentist could put in 2 implants and 2 teeth attached so I can have teeth on my upper left which I do not have and cannot chew on my left side. I have not had the implants as of yet. My smile was precious to me and now I am ashamed to smile. I have to have a tooth extracted because I will not go through another root canal. It was just filled and I have been in pain for weeks. I have an appt with an oral surgeon on Wed to have the tooth removed. As you I hopefully can see my picture of my smile and how proud I was .. Not anymore.

EDTA is Ethylene Diamino Tetra-acetic acid as it was mentioned before and it is true a chelating agent, but I did not see anything about its properties. EDTA makes a soluble in water complex with Calcium. It is not healthy to have such ingredients in food or anywhere in the body because it is a way to lose Calcium from bones, teeth or anywhere else. I bought some mushroom that listed EDTA as a conservator for color and I had to wash several times to be sure, no EDTA is left behind.
If you can find a dentist you trust, you’re very lucky, because even the holistic ones are not always trustworthy. My most recent dentist, Dr. Thomas Gent at Sola Dental, talked me out of my root-canaled molars and botched the replacements. I ended up with massive gum and bone loss and now will likely lose most of the rest of my teeth! I am suing him and he is under investigation with the state dental board. Do not spend your money and threaten your health! I was just fine with root canals. My health really went downhill after all the surgeries, antibiotics, and corrective surgeries. It’s taken two years and I am always depressed. I was disfigured for 18 months. What I wouldn’t give to still have those root canaled teeth that caused me no problems!

If you have a dentist you like and trust, even if they are “traditional”, you stick with them. Dr. Weston Price that study they use as evidence was in 1920. Lets just keep things real. We did not even discover penicillin until 1928 and we just started added fluoride to toothpaste in 1914. This study is so dated and ONE study. JUST ONE in 1920. Look around do you see the people you know getting of cancer because of a root canal?? I mean really. You dont think It was Smoking, eating junk , sitting around and doing nothing all day or not drinking enough water ????

Lorna, the documentary has been pulled because it is not based on a reliable scientific study. Netflix did not pull this just from backlash from dental community, they are protecting their reputation after they realized they published gibberish. If they backed down to big money they wouldn’t cave here but leave up docs on big pharma, food industry, prison system, gov’t, etc.
I read through all the research articles I could find on pubmed that had root canal in the search and they only covered materials, methods, how long they last compared to the alternatives, how long the pain lasted after treatment. I didn’t find any research about the long or short term health effects or killing off the bacterial in the surrounding tissue. I don’t think this has been looked in to or if it has, nothing has been published that doesn’t promote the practice.
I had 5 teeth pulled two years ago as I had had 4 or 5 abscesses that would not go away with antibiotics. These abscesses came and went over a period of a year. Now I have breast cancer and as no one in my family has breast cancer, I believe it was caused by teeth bacteria. If I had known about the relationship between gum abscesses and cancer I would never have had them, but bridges instead.
I had 12crowns and a 3tooth bridge Dione .on the 3 tooth bridge I have a tooth ache which the dentist say I need a root canal done .which would mean they would have to take the bridge off . I’m confused as what to do on the treatment . The dentist I went to before I had the crowns put on said 12 teeth were cracked .by grinding them down from tmj. What should I do ? Whatever happened to good old fashioned self reliance. Come on, home oral care, 5 minutes a day, tops. Stop blaming others for your situation. The problems you have now, today, didn’t just suddenly appear. They’re from poor oral hygiene practices. If not currently, then certainly in your past. It’s only now catching up to you.
Ever see a pot hole? Starts a small size. You patch it, but it eventually breaks down revealing a larger pot hole. So you patch it again, but look, over time that patch fails, and the pot hole is now even bigger than before. Same with our teeth. We use them every day (I hope) and like cars driving over that pot hole they are subject to wear and tear, causing microscopic wear each day. Eventually, like the patches pot hole, something gives. You repave the road, you crown the tooth.
If a tooth is lost, even by choice, prosthodontists say your madticatory function is decreased by approximately 8%. Loose more teeth? You get the idea.
Take care of yourself. No one else knows you better than you.
Or…only brush and floss the teeth you want to keep.
Have to agree, it takes me a minimum of 6 minutes twice a day to take care of my teeth properly.
1 minute to floss, 1 minute with a separate toothbrush to scrub the tongue with a mouthwash Close-up toothpaste, 1 minute to use Listerine Healthy White Pre-Whitener. 2 minutes to brush teeth with Supersmile toothpaste Plus with the Whitening Accelerator (Note: Using a Oral-B rotating head brush remembering never to apply too much pressure) 1 minute using Listerine Total Care Stain Remover mouthwash. I never ever skip a step no matter how sick I get or how drunk I may be. Never!
I am sorry but I have been very diligent about cleaning my teeth my entire life and I have gotten an abscess that now needs a root canal. It is because I grind and clench my teeth and that damaged the peridontal ligament. I also had fillings from a child because of the food my grandmother fed me (sugar). So don’t judge.
I had a crown put on my largest left molar and about a year later I got into severe pain in that tooth. The dentist went in through the crown and removed four canals. About two years later the tooth became sensitive to hot and cold. The dentist told me that there is no way that tooth could be giving pain; obviously he was wrong. I tried brushing my teeth more but that only made it worse. I then tried brushing my teeth less and that helped a lot. I now brush twice weekly with baking soda. After many experiences I no longer trust any authority on our planet. The welfare of people is not their focus.

Sounds similar to my symptoms. How are you doing now?
Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda. Put a small amount of baking soda in a cup and pour a small amount of peroxide into it enough to make it like a paste. Use your toothbrush to apply all over your teeth. Leave for about three minutes and then rinse. Don’t brush your teeth again. It is best to this at night. After you do your normal brush with the toothpaste- apply this mixture and rinse. They recommend doing this at bedtime it prevents plaque buildup. Also, the peroxide has a bleaching effect. Very cheap way to whiten teeth. Plus it is a healthy way to whiten your teeth.

I had breast cancer in 2012 Stage 1C. I heard about the correlation between root canals and cancer, but put the information on the shelf because I had sent so much money on my dental work. Root canals on #14 & #19 done in 2005. Here I am in 2019 with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. I had a 1% chance of recurrence according to my medical oncologist. I can’t get to the biological dentist fast enough to get these two root canaled teeth removed. Number 14 is on my breast meridian & my thyroid meridian which I have issues with nevermind the bones it has spread to on the meridian of the root canaled teeth. I have always taken very good care of my teeth and my body and God is in control of all of these things and I am very grateful that he has made me aware of what I can do to help myself. Removing these teeth is the least of the things I’ve had to do. Ignorance is not bliss & Can leave one in everlasting ignorance. Be aware & vigilant!!
So what is the best thing to do if you did not know this information and have had root canals? That is the situation my Mom is in and has been dealing with respiratory issues (out of the blue) for the past year after having a root canal. She has also lost a significant amount of weight and Dr’s only want to treat the symptoms by making her use an inhaler and medication.

Is replacing a root canal tooth with an implant a better option? I want to get my dead tooth removed as the dead tooth does not sit well with me after everything I have heard and this tooth is giving me problems. The only problem is it’s in the front of my mouth and I don’t want to leave it open, I’ve gone through all the options extensively but I’m still not 100 % sure the implant will not cause cancer or other problems. All I really would like to know is, is the implant better for ones health than having a root canal tooth in your mouth

I have had three root canals done. Woke up one morning in severe pain after an agonizing night. Rushed to the dentist and we saw a possible small crack in one of them and a huge dark spot on the X-ray, larger than a quarter. We decided to pull the tooth. When he pulled it out , the bacteria poured into my mouth like a faucet. Here I thought my face was just getting fat and I know now that the infection. Was very large and possibly spread to my lower jaw. Even the dentist was in absolute shock. He said it had been building for 6 years. Yes, it does get trapped and I learned if it would have spread to my brain, I would have been dead. I had also experienced pressure around my ear and I thought I was going deaf at age 47. I am pulling the others too.

I’m curious to you opinion on bridges then? I had one put in because every root canalI’ve has shattered in 5 years or less. They talked me into doing it cause I don’t have any back teeth
