Radiation therapy cancer treatment uses high-powered X-rays with the intention to kill cancer cells. But radiation is inherently damaging to DNA.
Radiation therapy actually works by damaging the genes (DNA) in cells, and genes control how cells grow and divide. When radiation damages the genes of cancer cells, they cannot continue to grow and divide. Over time, the cells die. This means radiation can be used to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors… or at least that was the theory.
Radiologists know that DNA damage is one of the detrimental effects of ionizing radiation. When something like that rips through your DNA (or most anything), it is definitely going to do some damage.
Damage Caused by Radiation Therapy Cancer Treatments
Radiation therapy for cancer causes nerve damage (resulting in numbness and pain). Radiation to the head and neck area can damage the glands, causing throat and mouth sores. Radiation to the stomach or pelvis can damage the intestines. Radiation also limits reconstructive options for breast cancer, and can cause significant damage to the heart, lungs or any other organ nearby. It also leads to second cancers.
But radiologists believe that these side effects are insignificant as compared to the benefits of radiation as a cancer treatment. They are wrong, the theory itself was wrong.
Radiation Therapy Creates More Cancer
While in the past researchers believed that radiation could actually kill cancer cells, researchers are now discovering that radiation treatment creates more cancer!
A recent study done at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center found radiation actually induces (leads to) breast cancer cells to form more tumors. Plus, malignancy in radiation treated breast cells was likely to be 30 times more probable. Radiation actually promotes malignancy in cancer cells instead of killing them, and it allows cancers to grow back with even greater force.
The researchers reported that radiation treatment transforms cancer cells into treatment-resistant breast cancer stem cells (CSCs), even as it kills some of the cancerous cells within a tumor. While radiation appears to target cancer cells and can regress tumors, this is only in the short-term, before the tumors regrow with a vengeance.
Other research has indicated that cancer stem cells are involved with treatment failure. In fact, awareness of CSCs goes way back to around 1910, though the term wasn’t used then. As with chemotherapy, numerous researchers have found that radiation does not kill all of the cancerous cells within the tumor. The cancer stem cells are left behind. Plus, the radiation actually turns normal cells into cancer stem cells. Thus creating cells that are resistant to treatment and which can go on to produce more tumors.
When is Radiation Therapy Cancer Treatment Beneficial?
Radiation therapy can be useful for palliative care. For example, it is often used as a method to control pain or manage other quality of life symptoms. But the theory that radiation is curative has clearly been challenged.
Beyond the obvious questions, such as “does radiation therapy harm surrounding organs?” (yes, it does), or “will I suffer from fatigue?” (likely so), and “does it contribute to lymphedema?” (it does), there are important questions you need to ask your radiation oncologist before you accept treatment.
10 Questions to Ask Your Oncologist Before Accepting Radiation Therapy Cancer Treatments
BEFORE you schedule any radiation therapy appointments to treat your cancer, here are some very important questions you need to ask your doctor. These questions are meant to empower you to take control of your health and have a clear understanding of the cancer treatment being offered.
- What is the goal of the radiation for my cancer? Is this a cure or a short term solution?
- What will your proposed treatment do to my cancer stem cells?
- How will you support my immune system during treatment?
- How will you protect my heart, lungs, and/or other organs from the radiation?
- How will this treatment change the cancer environment: will it only kill some of the cancer cells and leave me vulnerable when the cancer stem cells go on to create more cancer?
- What is your opinion on taking antioxidants and other supplements during treatment?
- How will radiation affect my risk of distant relapse? It has a much higher rate of recurrence (30%) than the 10-15% of patients with Stage I or II. In light of the risk of the radiation creating more cancer, how will this radiation treatment benefit me?
- What lifestyle changes will I need to make to improve the outcome of the radiation treatment and protect my body during treatments?
- Will a planning CT (CAT scan) be required to determine the area to be treated? Will I require more than one of these scans which inherently subject me to even more radiation?
- Would you give this same treatment to your wife or children, and if not, what would you recommend for them? Would you do it yourself?
Many people are timid when it comes to questioning a doctor. Part of this is the unwillingness to put up with potential arrogance. However, more often it is because when we hear the words “you have cancer” we often begin to operate out of fear. We can become bullied into thinking we will die if we don’t follow the good doctor’s orders.
It is next to impossible to make clear, educated decisions when you operate out of fear. Know that by law, physicians must inform patients of the significant risks and serious harm associated with proposed treatments as well as alternatives to their suggested treatment.
It is much easier to heal yourself of cancer once you become an empowered patient. Find out what causes cancer, what caused YOUR cancer, what stage cancer you have, and what stops it from growing.
You may have heard the expression “there is no stupid question.” Never has there been a better time to ask questions. Your health and your life depends on it!
What to Do If You Decide Not to Accept Adjunct Radiotherapy for Cancer
The thought of radiotherapy for cancer strikes fear in many people. Rightly so as research shows that instead of killing cancer cells, radiation can actually help the cancer grow and spread. So, what is a person to do? Thankfully there are many natural substances that target cancer cells and reduce the chances of recurrence and metastases without harming healthy cells, many of which we have discussed here at The Truth About Cancer. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Modified Citrus Pectin are just a few examples of cancer-thwarting agents.
Vitamin C has often been referred to as a ‘Trojan horse’ that sneaks into cancer cells and kills them, and has been used effectively for decades to target cancer. Clinicians have been using this at high doses as part of both conventional and holistic treatment plans to improve efficacy. Excitingly, new research shows that vitamin C also suppresses the growth and metastases of cancer by inhibiting cancer stem cells activated by chronic stress.
Cancer stem cells are not like ordinary cancer cells. They are the ones that enable cancer to travel and take up residence elsewhere in the body. That chronic stress promotes cancer has long been a theory, but recent research now reveals how it works. Chronic stress not only suppresses the immune system, but the resulting epinephrine has been found to promote breast cancer progression by energizing cancer stem cells.
Vitamin D is known as the ‘anticancer vitamin’ (even though it is actually a hormone). It triggers the immune system to kill cancer cells, switches on tumor-suppressor genes, and has an overall potent anti-cancer effect. Importantly, cancer cells don’t know how to die (the process known as apoptosis), and they actually protect themselves from death by making an anti-apoptotic protein called Bcl-2. Vitamin d has been found to lower the production of Bcl-2. Vitamin D also lowers the production of the COX-2 inflammation enzyme as well as the enzyme aromatase, which increases the production of estrogen.
Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) induces cancer cell death (apoptosis) and inhibits circulating tumor cells from latching onto the lining of blood vessels walls and forming distant tumors. Specifically, studies show that MCP can help decrease the expression of the protein Galectin-3, which is involved in cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. Cancer uses Galectin-3 to shut down the immune system so it cannot detect and remove ominous cancer cells—a hallmark of cancer. Modified Citrus Pectin modulates immune and inflammatory responses linked to cancer and helps remove carcinogenic metals from the body.

Pacita says
My consultant told me that they have taken out the cancerous lump from my breast and that my lymph nodes were not affected either. He also said that it’s up to me if I still want to take Tamoxifen as it was only Grade 1 and has been taken out. But still they sent me an appointment for radiotherapy!
no disease can exist within OXYGEN. check it out on the net.
NOT TRUE
Me too I go on 8/30 than I read all this. But than I know my grandma had radiation at 63 she lived to 91 so I am confused too.
The missing information here is that she very well could have lived that long, and maybe longer, even without the radiation. Research I’ve done reports that people who do absolutely nothing to treat their cancer live as long (or longer) than those who have chosen toxic and damaging therapies such as chemo and radiation. Something to think about!
I was told that my 11mm lump, with clear lymph nodes, was stage 2, so I need radiotherapy and 5 years of Tamoxifen. I’m so confused as when I read up about the different stages I should only be at stage 1, in which case I would also refuse radiotheraphy, and any medication.
My husband is 72 years old, , has arythmia, heart problem, had 3 diabetic strokes, fibrilaton,on NGT for 3 months now, hematochea, problem secndary to rectal mass 70% malignancy, hypertension, diabetes meltus, insulin dependent S/P CVD infarct, cardiac dysthythm, colonic diverticle sigmad area, colonscopy with biopsy 5x. Oncologist recommended a 28 session Radiaton Therapy 5x/week. Is that correct?
Victoria (that’s my beloved sister’s name!),
I am sorry to hear of all the trouble you & your husband are going through. Your husband must be a very strong man to endure such trials. I would like to suggest that you look into the lifestyle centers around the country (even outside of the country). They specialize in using ‘natural remedies’ to help restore health and wellness, not only for the sick but also for their caregivers as well. There are some VERY good ones that would feel honored to help your family restore their health. Here are four:Eden Valley, BHHEC, Power 4 Health, Meet Ministry.
I did radiation for 6 six weeks Monday thru Friday if that helps.
When is it painful
I am a bit confused with this post as I know many cancer patients who have been given the all clear after radiation treatment, whether the cancer comes back is another story as that is always a risk no matter what the treatment is.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Pancreatic cancer. Had surgery and was waiting for chemotherapy. Didn’t know much about cancer I figured that was the next step. I sought out a second opinion on whether to do it or not. I did #10 on the list of questions and this is before I knew about the quest. I asked the doctor if I were your mother would you subject me to chemo. He paused, and then said no I would not. I asked why he said people don’t die of cancer they die from chemo. So I didn’t do it. And here it is 6 years later cancer free.. One thing I noticed after I came home from the hospital I craved beans, tomatoes and hot sauce. I was severelystill anemic and iI guess the body craves the nutrients it needs to get the body functioning again. I was truly blessed.
Hello! My original treatment plan for stage 2 ER+ one node BC was lumpectomy-radio-tamoxifen, until I started doing some research. This lead me to this excellent site, plus Chris Beat Cancer and Dr Jane Plant’s book Your Life in your Hands plus lots of researching about what other woman who had these treatments 10+ years ago to gauge their recovery. There are some very inspiring and heartbreaking stories out there.
I did have the lumpectomy along with the removal of nodes all with clear margins but refused point blank not to have radio, citing my instinct though low on clinical trials was screaming at me not to do it, this upset my consultant – poor him. Instead I opted for a mastectomy with reconstruction, this extreme measure proved when the breast tissue was analysed, there was NO CANCER so the radio would’ve done more harm than good! I also tried Tamoxifen which was awful, so now I filter my water and store it in glass bottles, I don’t drink alcohol, nor eat red meat or dairy plus I eat lots of organic fresh, nourishing food. My supplements have been tailored for me by an Aryuvedic herbalist all natural, organic and with centuries of knowledge. It’ll be a year almost the day since my initial diagnosis and I feel more in control of me and my life than I ever did, so in a strange way this has been a very powerful and positive experience for me and those around me. My advice act on making an informed decision, you’ll be amazed at what doors will open up.
Monique, I was diagnosed with Stage three breast cancer 50 weeks ago. My lymph nodes were clean and after watching TTAC I went on a juice diet for three months and for six months did not eat any meat, dairy, sugar or refined carbs. I went to a Homeopath specialising in Cancer and took some disgusting Chinese tea and other herbal treatments and supplements. And the size of the lump reduced so much that I could go for a Goldilocks Mastectomy – which is basically a partial breast re-construction during the mastectomy. I am going for Lipo-fillings in my new (much smaller!) breasts in two weeks time. It is winter in South Africa and everybody had the flu – BAD! And my husband and myself – not as much as a sniffle – due to the boost to our immune system.
My tumor was 3,2cm so the dr suggested that I underwent “preventative” chemo. This did not make any sense to me – if it was a logical solution then EVERYBODY must go on “Preventative” chemo.
So I salute you and know how hard it is – but it will pay off. You are your own HERO now and don’t let anybody try and tell you otherwise.
Monique and Lucia, thank you both for sharing your story. It’s so inspiring to hear from likeminded informed women. I am four weeks out of a double mastectomy with reconstruction for a 8mm lump with DCIS surrounding the tumour of 1.2 cm. my cancer was ER/PR+, as well as (even though I don’t put much clout into the genetic testing BRAC1 positive). I’m 32 years old so decided this was the best option for me. I meet with the medical oncologist this week to discuss my “treatment plan” where I will be saying thanks but no thanks. I believe that making lifestyle changes – reducing stress, yoga, meditation, making diet changes – cutting out gluten, diary, refined sugars, increasing my vegetable and juicing consumption and getting on a strict supplements regime with my naturalpath will lead to success! Would love to be in touch with both of you!
I have Papillary thyroid cancer .As we know that only treatment in doctor’s hands is surgery and radiation which i refuse them both . im on natural path and doing very good .my doctor kicked me out of her office because im not following her treatment and she said to me no more blood test for you and no ultra sound can you imagine .And i know she cant push me for something i don’t want .
My tumor shrunk half and she said so that mean nothing for me cancer still there. and mean a lot for me .
I asked her all that questions above so funny to know what she said and so sad they think people are stupid .how she became a doctor i don’t know .And i saw 3 different doctors and all have same tools .surgery and radiation which they believe is safe .Even one of them said i have sister who had same your cancer and she doing very good after surgery and radiation .poor sister that only word i can say .
My problem now is there no private bale to do blood and ultrasound in Canada to see what is going on since she refused to give any because im on natural path . And i went to see a different doctor he said we cant keep given you blood test and ultrasound and your not doing anything and not listening to us ,he said since your are following your treatment go tell your natural doctor to give you .and lab in here didn’t accept his paper saying has to be from your physician .
I dont know what to do .
I learn a lot from the truth about cancer .
God bless you all
Thanks
you can get thermography screening at private clinics and blood work at some naturopathic clinics. Of course not covered by our health care. This is in Canada, not sure about the US.
This is the same story in The Netherlands.
I was diagnosed with the same cancer 10 years ago. I also refused any treatment from the doctor and the doctor dropped me as a patient. In order to keep tabs on how I am doing I go to an endocrinologist. Before I made an appointment with the endocrinologist, I was upfront and told him I had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and asked if he would be willing to run the blood tests I wanted and not focus on the cancer. He was agreeable to it. So I get blood-work done twice a year and have every thyroid test imaginable run and check other markers too. I can also have ultra sounds done as well. So keep looking but I would suggest an endocrinologist that specializes in the thyroid.
I have hear that low IODINE levels contribute to thyroid issues. Also, Selenium can reduce the risk of breast cancer. Many issues are due to improper natural mineral levels in the body.
you stay strong stay on your natural path and make sure youve got a gerson type food diet orgnaic and lots of orgnaic raw furits and veg. youll be fine they can keep their scans. you can find a natural doc who will give you a scan they are angry becasue they murder people for greed ands lie to them about their cancer treatment they know they killpattients they jsut dont care all they care about is greed and money so stay strong and hang in there stay on your natural path
Yes the Max Gerson therapy. You also have several clinics in the USA. His daughter Charlotte is continuing her fathers work. You can get information from these clinics for free
What a racket. I went through the same thing talking to my “team” at Stanford. What a bunch of tow-the-line “standard of care” hacks. CTCA, MD Anderson, they’re all the same. Oncologists get so much marketing material and freebies (vacation vouchers anyone?) from the pharmaceuticals that make all of these treatments. I don’t want to go off too much into tin foil hat territory, but it’s the truth and it’s not only the money. The whole industry has this religion about the “standard of care”, it’s almost cult-like.
So get educated and make informed decisions about your care. You probably don’t want to listen to cult members who have been trained to NOT think critically and NOT think out of the box when it comes to cancer.
I underwent both surgery and radiation therapy for oral cancer. The radiation therapy was recommended and performed to kill any stray cancer cells that may have been missed in surgery. I found the radiation therapy to be ten times more toxic than the surgery. Knowing what I now know, I wish now that I had vetoed the radiation therapy. Besides the immediate severe dry mouth and mouth soreness and thyroid destruction, after more than twenty years I have developed a chronic cough that I think is due to the radiation therapy. I doubt that the radiation therapy provided any benefit for me.
Hi Mark. I was diagnosed with Graves Disorder very recently. My first endocrinologist wanted to either remove my thyroid or have me undergo the radiation therapy to kill it. I sought a 2nd opinion, and now have been ‘sitting’ on an order for the radioactive pill and scan done over two days. I am very reluctant to swallow this pill, but they tell me they cannot do anything positive for me without this. I’ve had the ultrasound, but they won’t give me the result until I complete their regimen. Any thoughts? Thanks
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer with Gleason numbers in the 6 and 7 3-3 and a couple of samples are 4-3 the recommended treatment is markers with radiation low grade a second opinion was Cryro therapy do you have a opinion.
my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The recommended radiation which he refused. We do juicing of a glass of juice everyday and turned vegan. His PSA dropped from 4.54 to 0.03 in 4 months. He is 74 years old. Doing very well.
Could you please give details of the juicing, ie ingredients & quantities you used daily. Thx
My husband is schedule to do bio mapping biopsy because oncologist strongly believes he has prostate cancer.. The therapy is cryro therapy. We have change diet…more juicing, wheatgrass, etc. How do you feel about cryro therapy?
Hi Pacita and Lorraine,
To you both I woiuld like to say I am sorry you have suffered already, but very strongly advise and recommend that you do not go down the conventional route, which is the only option consultants will offer you. Ty Bollinger’s TTAC quest is an eye-opener, and I am actively killing off my prostate cancer cells by eliminating refined sugar and eating as much organic produce as possible to give my immune system the chance to do its job.
Best wishes to you both,
Ken
Yeh Ken I’m trying to educate as many as possibleToo . Sugar feeds cancer. The manufacturers of food junk are killing millions.
Hydrogen peroxide FOOD GRADE is my choice plus prayer and believing. Ty Bollinger has opened the minds of hurting and scared people and
There is power and healing in education and catching the LIES. Macar
How do you use hydrogen peroxide food grade. Do you take internally or through an inhaler.
re: #10 — “Would you give this same treatment to your wife or children . . .”, please, let’s not leave out “husband”. even women physician’s today continuously refer to MDs as male in interviews, which is “interesting” as they’ve had to work their way up in a male-dominated field and yet often neglect their own gender recognition in their profession. we see this in the alternative cancer treatment, integrative medicine realm often.
I totally agree with you. Gender bias is hidden every place and only serves to dis empower us even more in the face of what we have to endure when diagnosed with cancer.
If you ask that question, the doctor is going to say yes. There is no guarantee that the doctor will even tell you the truth if s/he has thought about that question. They are pretty much bound to give you whatever the standard protocol is in order to protect themselves from a lawsuit. My mother’s doctor said he would recommend the same treatment for his own mother. I told my mom she should have asked him if he got along with his mother before agreeing to the treatment.
To Emoritz: Love your humor! Jesus gave an Australian visionary the cure for cancer: de-worm! Apparently, cancer has a root cause in microscopic parasitic worms. I underwent the Black Walnut, Wormwood, Cloves de-worming treatment. It helped tremendously, as well as the “Cancer can be beaten!” prayer given by Jesus privately to me…we are too negative, and let fear take over all the time.
I started taking Protandim, an Nrf2 activator before the surgery. I refused to have radiotherapy when I went to see the oncologist yesterday. He said he’ll give me four to think about it and reconsider.
Very smart on your part!!
Hi Ken, thanks for your reply. I have decided against radiotherapy, my view is it will damage my skin making a potential mastectomy and reconstruction (IF the cancer comes back) impossible. I’ve carried out lots of research, and I’m personally convinced that the radio’ will trigger off another cancer, so no thanks, I’d rather go down ‘my’ route for treatment. That will include regular, privately paid for, thermo imaging so I can be assured I am ok.
All the best for your treatment Ken, don’t forget to look at cutting out white rice, flour etc and keep an eye on your acid/alkaline levels too.
Lorraine.
Lorraine how much does the thermo imaging cost yo I am interested in doing the same
I checked into it and it is around $300 here.
Curious what alkaline level should be…..Would an Enagic Kangen water machine help? It produces 8.5 PH up to 9.5 and adds antioxidants to the water while also cleaning the water eliminating chemicals and fluoride. thanks
I have not had cancer, but have personally witnessed 5 people in my close inner circle who chose to treat their cancer with alternative, health supporting therapies. Two of the Stage 4 people used Kangen water. One was so acidic that she needed to drink the 11.5 pH in order to get out of the extremely (near death) acid pH she was in! In my opinion, it is not necessary to get a Kangen machine. (I do have one, and consider it my best “health insurance!”) If you can find someone with a machine, they are urged by the company to share the water for free. If you cannot find anyone with a machine, there are other ways to alkalize your pH by diet and supplements alone. I’ve read about people using baking soda and water, which is extremely alkaline. Personally, I opted to get a machine because it is the easiest and most expedient way to alkalize. Besides that, the ionized water provides the richest source of antioxidants available. You can buy alkaline water, but it will not have the antioxidant capabilities of Kangen because that quality only lasts up to 3 days after coming out of the machine. Get some pH testing tape, and start measuring your alkalinity daily. It is amazing how I (a healthy person) can get an acidic reading (less than 7 pH) but after drinking a glass or two of Kangen 9.5pH, I can boost that reading to above neutral (7.365 pH) I also have cleaned up my lifestyle and eliminated as many toxins as possible in my food, personal products and household products. Where do you live? You may be able to find a Kangen distributor in your area to supply the water to you. The corporate office in LA has several machines in the lobby so that people can try the water before investing in a machine. Good luck!
Wow, I certainly wish I had read this before I had my 14 trips to be radiated. Yes, I’ve cried about it nightly. I only had stage 0 but now I worry for good reason, that it will come back because of the radiation. I did soak in dead sea salt and baking soda after every trip but I doubt that It helped. Guess I’ll find out!
To Theresa Houck: What a beautiful name you have! St. Theresa would love to give you a rose in answer to your prayers to Her for Heavenly Assistance. Repeat often: “St. Theresa of Lisieux, the Little Flower, hear my prayer!” Then word your private intentions to Her. She will send you roses in different ways to answer your prayer. I have had Jesus, Himself, tell me: “Repetition is as ROSES bestowed upon the beloved.” My prayer to St. Theresa was answered by THE REDEEMER, HIMSELF! ”
Glory and Praise to You O Lord God Almighty, and forever!”
I have had radiation therapy for removal of cancerous thyroid. It left me with a lot of scar tissue and difficulty swallowing. I then had two re-occurances and had all my lymph glands removed. I found the most difficult part of the radiation therapy was being bolted to the table and having the machine right over my face, giving me claustrophobia and borderline panic attacks…I say borderline, because I was able to stave them off with positive thinking and an Offering of all my suffering to Jesus through our Lady of Fatima for the conversion of some “rotten apples” who were persecuting me for my religious beliefs at the time. I have to take thyroid medication for rest of my life now, and seem to be doing “fair to maudlin” (Can’t take proper dosage due to A-Fib from aortal-valve regurg.) Sure makes life interesting! Lol! Stay positive, you can only go to Heaven! The devil hates winners! JESUS WON THE VICTORY!!!
Hi, Did you keep up with the baths after the treatment stopped? I hope you didn’t get too sore, my son bought me sea kelp (iodine) to take for a while after too. Don’t regret your choice Theresa, you did what you felt was right at the time. Stay positive, take care.
I so wish I had known then (1996) what we know now! Cervical cancer stage 4, only treatment was radiation, is what they told me. Of course, fear took over and I just did what they told me. External and internal radiation. Radiation is the “gift” that keeps on giving. In 2009 I was diagnosed with visciovaginal fistula which is a hole that the radiation made between my vagina and bladder. That gave me a urostomy. Now, 7 years later, I am (not) looking forward to a colostomy because the radiation has caused polyps and a stricture in my lower intestine.
Linda I am so sorry to hear of the aftermath of your radiation therapy! I am struggling right now whether to do it or not. My gut is telling me NOT to but 3 doctors have told me I should have it. I had cervical cancer that metastasized to my right ovary which is not a common path but I’ve had 2 major surgeries and 6 rounds of chemo and everything has been clear. they want me to do the radiation to ensure there is not a microscopic chance there is anything in the underlying tissues in the pelvis. I am 33 and it already took away having kids and i am going though menopause. Hearing of what has happened to you I think I should go with my gut! Thank you for posting!
Go with your gut Carrie!! I did. No regrets
🙂
Yes go with your God given instinct. Money is the game. I KNOW this.
Linda your body was designed to heal itself. It just requires the right fuel to do it. Would you consider natural supplementation to give it that fuel?
I had a lumpectomy for a papilloma three weeks ago. The pathologist report showed it to be DCIS. i had the second lumpectomy today with the reminder that I now need to do radiation for 6 weeks. I told the doctor that I want to try changing my diet instead of doing the radiation. I was reminded that the cancer will return 25% of the time if no radiation is used. However, if I do radiation I will have a 5% chance of it returning. I’m so happy that I have found this site and have read all of the experiences shared. I now want to learn how to cure my cancer. This is my 3rd cancer episode in a new spot in the last 10 years. I want to finally stop the cancer from returning in a new spot. From what I see, the radiation would only fix the cancer in this one spot. I want to be cancer free for good. Your experiences and advise would be helpful to me.
Hello Naomi,
Thank you so much for your entry! My eyes simply bugged out when I read your story because it is mine. I am poised to do radiation after two surgeries to remove DCIS and get larger margins. The standard is either a mastectomy ( with or without reconstruction) or the lumpectomy with clear margins AND radiation. The standard here is tamoxifen for both situations. I am definitely saying no to oral chemo. No way! And I am eligible for hypofractionated radiation which is 3 weeks of a bit higher dose. I have been researching all over the country. One MD in NY is doing only one week of radio for DCIS! and a center in Denver is doing two weeks whole breast and then one week focused on original site, called a boost. I am going back and forth about this. It is driving me crazy. It feels like such a gamble either way. I did ask one Mayo radiation oncologist if he would treat his wife if she had my circumstances.. he sort of balked and I had to bring it back again and asked: would you recommend this for me? He hesitated and said it is a hard call but then said because of its size, 3 cm, he would recommmend. The Mayo breast center MD said she would also recommend because of the size.. I could definitely have more right now outside the lumpectomy cavity waiting to grow, is what she said. You see, the mammogram did not pick up the DCIS which is very unusual but then she is ordering an alternating surveillance of mammo then MRI, one every 6 months. why do a mammogram if it didn’t pick up the DCIS? Crazy!
(FYI, I also had a papilloma.) The figures I got were 21% chance of recurrence with no radio and a 10% chance of recurrence if I do the hypofranctionated radiation. And if I do the shorter course of radio, AND the tamoxifen, the risk of recurrence of BOTH breasts is reduced to 3%. And we must keep in mind that this is DCIS, not invasive cancer. These figures are about recurrence, NOT about survival. The survibal rate is like 98% for DCIS not matter what, is what I read and hear. So, it just so confusing and frustrating, isn’t it? I also am looking at Cyberknife in Denver. It is a partial external radiation. I have sent all my records to MD there and will chat next week.
I am simply terrified of radiation. I hear people balk when they hear they have to have a second CT scan for something because of the radiation! and we would be simply blasting and marinating our breast and nearby organs with this horribly toxic material. and mine is left, so there still are concerns over lung and heart complications in the long term. However, in my area, they use the breath holding technique which reduces the risk of a heart attack and other heart damage to 1-2%..
Would like to get your perspectives on the above. I am not done with my research… still poring over info and speaking with MDs all over the coutnry. Thanks and best wishes on your journey. Anne Therese
The truth about cancer back again .wow, I tell everyone about it .So happy people know what is going on now with this big business. and they count from 1 to 10 before taking any step with (surgery or radiation or chemo ). Thanks for this info .Thanks for TY .God bless you all.

I actually had no idea that radiation therapy can be used to control pain or manage quality of life. I always assumed that it was used to treat the cancer. I will have to remember that the next time I hear about it. firelands.com/services/cancer-center/radiation-therapies.aspx
My husband is starting radiation therapy in a few weeks, and I want to know what we are going to have to expect. I love the list of questions you put down on here, and I will be sure to talk to my husband’s doctor about these. I really number #8. We are both wondering what life is going to be like after, and what limitations he is going to have, so we will be sure to talk to him about that.
You say not to microwave foods. Yes, I agree, do not microwave in any form of plastic or allow and cling film to touch the food during microwaving.
But also, do not stand within one metre of the microwave whilst it is in use, especially men! Often the seals are perished.
Other than that there is no danger in microwaving food especially vegetables.
I would never give into radiation or chemotherapy treatment. I saw the harmful effects of both treatments on my father first hand. He had no chance to survive, his two options were detrimental to his survival and the fact that they gave him only 2 months to live. How the hell can they put a timeframe on something like this? Why don’t DRs give you more options than the big three? Oh that’s an easy answer, they get kickbacks for prescribing chemo and radiation. Why are holistic doctors ending up dead these days? The big pharma cartel is taking them out.
Hello Family; All good stuff but what is the cause? What triggers the growth?? Lets add the other part and use all the tools at hand. I feel cancer is associated with hate-anger feelings. Maybe cervical cancer is associated with sexual abuse, as I have seen before as extreme anger or hurt can damage our heart. Maybe we could address the original cause. Even witnessing abuse can cause damage to us. So Forgiveness can and does help in our healing. Pau D Arco I have seen shrink tumors and detox as well. The one thing that takes 10 minutes of your time is to look the person in the eyes,( in your imagination) and Forgive them, can truly enhance your peace and health. Do it for you! And it in turn will help others. Loving Blessings. Alan.
RIGHT ON, thanks, Alan!
Hi Ty , I was treated for aggressive form of acute leukaemia when I was 19yrs old in 1978.when I came out of remission I developed leukaemia cutis,on my L BREAST nd L thigh which was treated with radiotherapy. I am now 57 and have been diagnosed with heart disease and have stable lymph noded on my chest. While I thank god I am alive chemo and radiation have left their mark on my body.
I refused radiation treatment 2 years ago after having a hysterectomy to eliminate cancer. The CT scan showed no more cancer anywhere, but my physician wanted me to have intensive radiation treatments as a preventive measure. My intuition said No! I refused the radiation and instead, have been following tips on diet from The Truth About Cancer ever since. I have also done personal psychological/spiritual work to eliminate the anger and frustration which caused the cancer. I am happy to report that there has been no return of cancer and my recent physical showed me to be in excellent health!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer which mastatized into my limp nodes. After 27 doctors at this certain cancer center recommended both chimo and radiation, I refused it. I wanted another opinion. I already had mine and knew there were other methods to fight cancer. I survived very well. My cancer doctor was amazed, and reported it to the other 27 doctors. I changed my diet and had herceptin treatments after which I had the mastectomy. The cancers in the limp nodes were gone and the three in the breast were much smaller. I thank God, he gave me wisdom not to have the chemo or radiation. I was also taking care of me husband who died before I had the operation. I read the book “Killing Cancer Not People” and did a lot of research. I just wish I had your info at that time. Donna
Proton Beam Therapy is not mentioned. Prostate cancer, upper neck and spine, brain, lung and breast cancers are among the common types of cancer being successfully treated. Because of the focused beam and ability to deposit the bulk of the energy into the tumor site, there few if any side effects. There is virtually no collateral damage to surrounding healthy tissue, therefore eliminating side effects. Quality of life life after treatment is important to the patient and the family. I was treated for prostate cancer in 2007, and today I have no sign of detectable cancer. My PSA went from 12.7 in 2007 to a mere 0.20 earlier this year. Quality of life is better than before treatment, and I eat healthier, exercise regularly. I have assisted thousands of patients through Proton Radiation Therapy. Side note: New Proton centers are either in planning stages or under construction in the USA. Proton therapy has been used world wide since the 1940’s.
You said everything I wanted to say about it! I had 5 treatments of Proton Beam Therapy for an early-detected lung cancer. It was easy, and no side effects at all! I think it’s a fantastic advancement in treatment.
I am a healthcare provider. Unfortunately most physicians are not trained in alternative therapies for any illness, therefore they are unable to work with patients who desire to use these treatments. Additionally, the AMA has only approved chemo and radiation treatments for cancer with support from the FDA and of course, the drug companies. There is a wonderful new movement being embraced by more progressive health care professionals whereby they are being trained and “certified” in functional and integrative medicine. This certification process takes several years to complete. There is a website where these providers can be located. It’s IFM.org. At the top of the page is an option called Find a Pracitioner. Some medical schools are also starting to offer this speciality training. I hope I am never diagnosed with cancer or any other dibilitating disease, but if I am these are the providers I will turn to first, along with the Hippocrates Centers (there’s one in Palm Beach, FL) and the Gerson Therapy group (in Mexico). There are options and responsible health care providers available.
3 and 1/2 years into a diagnosis that predicted 8-12months to live so I chose nutrition and supplements apposed to rad/chemo.. I was told stage 4 squamous cell head and neck metastasized into lymph both sides SCCHN. Three younger sisters and father all had various cancers, chose rad and chemo… all died. I have requested all 4 sets of doctors (2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions) for 3 years to prescribe Immunotherapy but all say I MUST do rad and chemo first because insurance will not pay. I must fail those first (?????). I could already have been healed but need the tests that prove the ‘cookie cutter’ therapy will not work for me. Have studied and shown peer reviews showing this cancer responds badly to rad and chemo and just causes more harm exacerbating the cancer stem cells. I need to find out if there is an overexpression of the P53 gene to see if PNC-27 will work for me before I purchase independently. That requires prescription for the genomic testing and or the RGCC test out of Greece I’m told. Also tried to get into 14 different Trials but still waiting as almost all require that RAD and Chemo happen first and failed …WHY… Thank you for this article…Rhonda CC
Thanks, Elyn, for a great article … I’ve noticed that the term “radiation” seems to have gradually been replaced by the med industry — “re-branded”, as they say — to “radiotherapy” … which sounds more appealing, doesn’t it, than “radiation”, often considered a “dirty” word now.
I was subscribed to The Truth About Cancer when a spot was found on my lung. Small spot that was growing slowly. Since my lungs are in a diminished capacity I listened to the Drs. And my family. I had radiation. The spot was targeted not knowing if it was cancer or not. They for some reason did not think I would survive a biopsy. Survive may be a severe word. My primary said I should have a biopsy. I didn’t I had the radiation. To the Drs. It was successful. I have lost more lung capacity and do not know where cancer is lurking. I do supplement and use essential oils. I worry everyday where will be next. I will not do radiation again. I wanted to go to Mexico but couldn’t afford to do that. So I started juicing on my own. I also have used the Budwig protocol with flaxseed oil. This is a difficult way to proceed. Also organic food. It is a constant strain to live in a ‘normal’ relationship and constant arguing I do not want to eat like that.
I fall off the diet frequently but I am eating better then before. I am saving $ if the cancer comes back I will go to Mexico or Spain.
Tai you and your vast army of experts help me everyday. I love and appreciate all you do.
In 2001, my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, heading towards stage 4. It’s important to
note my husband suffered a major heart attack in 1996 which badly damaged his heart and required
a triple by-pass months later. A referred oncologist highly recommended radiation to extend his life by
maybe 3 months. At a large meeting between the oncologist, his staff and my husband, I questioned
how he’d protect my husband’s heart from further damage. He responded by simply saying his heart would
be protected but wouldn’t say how so I continued the questioning. Feeling under attack, he then berated
me by saying “I’ve never heard of a wife not wanting her husband to live.” My husband passed within 4
months of being diagnosed, didn’t have radiation and chose to have alternative therapies. Although his
voice had become a whisper, up to to end he was mentally engaged, had a hearty appetite and had no
difficulty breathing. He passed quite peacefully and experienced a quality of life he would not have had
with radiation treatments. Hope this helps others facing similar crossroads. Sandy O. McLaughlin
Thanks to say about radiotherapy
I have so far refused Chemo, Radiotherapy and Surgery for my prostate cancer but I am about to have a consultation with professor Emburton in London for the possibility of having HIFU therapy as a trial. What is your take on this treatment?
Peter, check out hippocratesinst.org in Florida. They say protrate cancer is the easiest of the cancers to treat by lifestyle change.
I had breast cancer surgery 18 years ago and radiation afterward, no chemo. It was at Stage 1 at the time. Since that time I have had no recurrence of breast cancer and have had mammograms every year since. I also was on Tamoxifen for a while and had no bad reaction to the medicine. I actually had two surgeries within two weeks of each other since the first hospital, which shall be nameless, did not get it all and I had to get this information over the phone from the hospital after I got home. So I went to Mayo in Rochester and they took me in at the last minute and were very efficient while I was there. I recommend them highly. I don’t want to criticize your methods but this is what happened to me. I do not like the medicines that we are given currently to fix what ails us with all their bad reactions not to mention the prices they charge.
In 2000 i was diagnosed with breast cancer at 66 years of age. I was devastated. I had a lumpectomy and 12 nodes from axilla removed with only one showing microscopic cancer cells . I had 16 radiotherapy treatments and 5 years of Tamoxifen .During the radio .I continued to be active and played tennis with no visible tiredness, had no side effects from the Tamoxifin.I am now 80 years and still active playing golf and going to Zumba classes.2x weekly. I do watch what I eat and don’t have a sweet tooth. Life is good.

2015 started off my 60th year with a diagnosis of uterine carcinosarcoma considered the rarest and deadliest of female reproductive cancers. every doctor I saw stated like a mantra, surgery, chemo and radiation and my chances of survival would be 75 % as I’m otherwise fit and healthy with no other disease. Of course I was terrified and underwent a total hysterectomy which I knew was necessary. Luckily no cancer was found beyond the endometrium. I was sent to the oncologist and reluctantly agreed to undergo chemo. I also had an appointment with a radiation oncologist who to her credit was very informative and forthright as to the negative effects that could develop, like a fistula, urinary incontinence, swelling in your legs, brittle bones, burned skin, damaged bowels, etc., and the secondary cancer down the road all that radiation so that cancer was less likely to return to the pelvic area. It became a numbers game from there. It made me feel like damned if you don’t, damned if you do. I was shocked to learn that the treatments would be every day for 25 days excluding weekends and holidays. I soul searched and asked for time to make a final decision. She asked how long I needed and 3 months was my reply. Oh no, she said, you need to let me know in a week as I’m going on vacation. Well gee. I reluctantly agreed but my gut kept screaming. NO!!!! I was to begin ‘therapy” the Tuesday after the long weekend. That Friday, I pulled the plug and said no, I won’t be going ahead with it. I guess I upset a few apple carts but everyone was very forgiving, again to their credit. The oncologists phoned me and I asked if the cancer does return to the pelvic area could we then do radiation? What if I dodge that bullet? I would surely be better off as a result. Well, that was a year ago and so far so good. I’m doing well despite the chemo and feel like i’ve healed a lot since then carrying on with my life being active, eating well and riding and training my horses. I’m so glad I listened to my gut. I wish I could have come at this with the knowledge I have now thanks to Ty and TTAC and all the exhaustive research I did. I probably would have done more of a wait and see approach with the chemo as well.
Hello Terry 2,
I had the same cancer.Completed chemo plus radation in December 2016.
I am fine now. Please let me know how you are doing.
This is a very rear cancer.
Take care,
God bless,
Everyone should consider doing frequency resonance therapy to kill viruses, fungus, parasites and bacteria, all of which cause cancer and weaken the immune system. Mainstream medical research does know that viruses especially cause disease. They would rather treat the symptoms because that is where they can make their patented profits. This is a huge part of my healing process, in addition to, the ketogenic diet, detoxification, hormonal balancing and correcting nutritional deficiences, plus stress reduction, of course. This is probably one of the best alternative measures that the mainstream doesn’t want people to know about. They confiscated Dr. Royal Rife’s research and equipment in the 1930’s when they found out he was curing cancer by vibratiing the two main viruses of that time period that were contributing to cancer.
has anyone ever tried those OXYLIFT or ZELL OXYGEN capsules? they are SUPPOSED to be 200 times STRONGER than chemo or radiotherapy/radiation. i often get emails on those two products and, touch wood, i have not got cancer yet, even though i am a heavy smoker. thank you for your time. regards, joseph, aug-25-2016.
Better to listen to your gut. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to big pharma. Keep on doing what you are doing. I believe something happens in our lives that causes us great stress and if we cannot get back on the right track immediately we get sick. That is found in the book The Truth About Cancer. There is a lot in that book that does not sit right but there are some emotional opinions that I believe. Once you are well again you need to change a lot about your life to continue on the path to wellness. You did it. Best wishes.
My sister at 54 years of age, was told if she didn’t have radiation straight away after she went through mouth cancer surgery, she would die.
She endured weeks of being burnt and in the end she was left with no feeling in her lower jaw including absolutely no feeling in her tongue. It had been cooked. 5 years later and her lower face has shrunk? She still can’t eat or even drink smoothies without it dripping out of her mouth and her speech is also not 100% . She will never have control of her tongue, it is just a lump of unusable muscle.
if we had known then what we have found out over the years, from wonderful sites including this, she would never have taken the radiation route.
My sister had breast cancer went all the way, Chemotherapy, Radiation and surgery of with the pathology result after surgery saying no cancer cell around the site. Earlier she had back surgery and radiation which made her to be having constant back to leg pain so needed pain medication but at a point the medication was changed to OxyContin, some days into taking the medication she stopped eating, sleeping and developed Juandice and was taken to the hospital only to be told she has a mass in the pancreas which affected the liver and a biliary drainage was installed to drain and a biopsy was done on the mass/liver to which we were told was inconclusive. Another Doctor now requested for a CAT scan after that placed her on antibiotics which helped tremendously to improve the liver. Only for the oncologist to come tell us she has PNET and will need chemotherapy or she dies within one month. But my question has been why did he come out with that after the inconclusive biopsy result as the blood work too did not show cancer which was why the called for biopsy. I need help here as she was billed for the chemotherapy on th 08/29/2016
I refuse to have chemo and radiation the Va wasn’t very Happy with me although my blood work improve from when I was diagnosed with esofoguel andincarcinoma.T 2 I have been drinking herbal medicine teas since June I could not understand why they wanted to put in a feeding tube when I have no problems eating. I’m continued on my Tea’s
Good for you Robert, you are doing the right thing for you.
I was diagnosed in 2013 with duct car. her2 neg. stage3 Breast cancer had bilateral surgery did radiation and Chemo + herceptin but was taking off due to heart damage but Oct. 2015 it returned to my liver and brain. I took Chemo and radiation to brain but Aug. 2016 it returned to brain and had 3 treatments. I just want to treat myself naturally even though I’ve done fine. Can you all help me, please. I’m 53 yrs. old with a 19 and 14 yrs old boys.
Hi Erica,
The best advice we can give you is to consult with one of the doctors/experts that we interviewed in our Global Quest Series. Here is a link to get their information: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/experts-info-sheet/
Erica – check out IFM.org. They have listings of physicians who are trained in Functional Medicine instead of only using chemo and radiation. I’ve posted this on this page before, but the editors keep deleting it. Hopefully this gets to you and others looking for progressive physicians. Good luck.
In my opinion, radiation therapy does not work as a treatment to cure terminal cancer. Too much radiation in your body is not good. It just causes more cancer, especially some forms of blood cancers. To me, alternative therapies should be used to treat all stages and forms of cancer and conventional therapies such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy should be taken off the list.
My mother died of Breast Cancer in 1953 and I was 15 at the time (I’m now 78). The doctor she had in New Jersey took off both breasts
and mutilated her breasts doing the surgery. She did have Radiation therapy and I took care of her and remember her throwing up and she
coundn’t eat and died in the hospital from Breast Cancer. I thought I was going to die when I was 39 as I had awful Migrane headaches and felt awful and changed my diet and went on Organic foods , cleansed my body from toxins, did my exercises as much as possible. I am doing well except for some joint aches but am controlling them. I try to stay away from stress as much as possible. Thank you TY for all your good articles
on trying to prevent Cancer, and help other people who have Cancer.
Angie
Angela, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 47 in 1994. She had a lumptectomy and radiation therapy. She did not do chemotherapy, because the doctors thought that her cancer did not spread to other parts of the body. She took tamoxifan for 5 years from 1994 to 1999. She said that she was feeling fine, when she took the tamoxifan. My mother told me that she started feeling activations with her cancer, after she took the tamoxifan. In the fall of 2003, her breast cancer spread to the bones. She did a lot of radiation therapy in her bones, but it did not get rid of her cancer. She did different types of chemotherapy and that did not work on her. My mother thought that the radiation therapy worked on her, but it caused the cancer to spread even to her bone marrow in 2009. In the end, the cancer spread to her liver and brain and she died of cancer in November 2009 at age 62. She did radiation therapy in her brain, but it did not make the cancer disappear. I wish that I just took my mother to the CMN cancer clinic in Mexico and she did laetrile therapy, ozone therapy, dendritic cell therapy, and IV vitamin C. I should had thought about juicing, a raw vegan diet, apricot seeds, vitamin B17, probiotics, hemp oil,two tablespoons of organic cottage cheese with one tablespoon of flax seed oil, Young Living essential oils, essiac tea, turmeric, milk thistle, and wheatgrass. However, I did not know about alternative therapies in those days and my father would had not let me try a homeopathic doctor nor natural treatments on her. He would had told me just to follow conventional therapies. He would listen to the oncologists instead. Maybe if I tried alternative treatments on her, maybe she would had been alive today.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2012, with 11 positive lymph nodes. I was told that I needed to have chemo and radiation (really, the insinuation was that there were no other options), mastectomy. If I knew then what I know now…. I absolutely would not have had radiation. I had a prophylactic mastectomy after having radiation – the radiation caused such damage to my healthy breast that after the prophylactic surgery, I needed to have 20 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy just so it would heal. ( I had the prophylactic mastectomy because having mammograms/ultrasounds every 6 months for 5 years (because they were following the non-cancerous side) failed to detect any trace of cancer – I never wanted a doctor to recommend having a mammogram ever again. I will be recommending thermography to my daughters) The implant that was put in on the cancerous side became very encapsulated, caused by radiation – I was in constant pain for 2 years before I finally had it removed. When I was diagnosed, I absolutely felt as though I had no other choice but to follow doctor’s orders, because I didn’t have enough information to feel comfortable doing otherwise. If only I had watched The Truth About Cancer series prior to diagnosis. I would have had so many tools with which to treat this disease more naturally, without all of the side effects that continue to wreak havoc on my body. I would encourage anyone who has a similar diagnosis as mine to look for other options. I *might* still choose chemo if I had to do it over again, but NEVER radiation. The TTAC series, Chris Beat Cancer, Dr. Veronique Desaulniers, Marnieclark.com – all excellent sources of information.
God Bless you all.
Great article. However, I’m incredulous that, in 2016, the author appears to think all doctors are heterosexual males. What’s up with question #10, “Would you give this same treatment to your wife…” ?
Do you think you might be a tad too edgy? Are you always listening for a reason to take offense? Lighten up and put your dagger away. You must live a miserable life and make those around you miserable. Or else those around you possibly find themselves afraid to talk around you lest a word that has been commonly used for centuries is pounced on by you to start a war. It is nearly impossible to offend a truly happy person who has confidence in their own abilities and self worth. Unintended slip ups by others just roll off their “duck” backs hardly noticed at all. Even intended insults roll off because on the inside they know it is not true or even worth their time or effort to consider or fuss about. They have more important ideas to contemplate in their brains and they take the essence of the idea that was expressed and run with it.
In fact, I am very happy and am often told that I make others happy. One of the ways I do this is by striving to be inclusive and welcoming to all when I speak. Language is the essence of human communication; the importance of clearly expressing oneself cannot be overestimated. Using the wrong words can do incredible damage to individuals or societies. One should always be careful to say exactly what one means, and this is something of which I am very conscious.
15 years ago I had breast cancer. Ductal carcemoma in situe. In situe means it desnt move. But after the biopsy the lymph nodes got the cancer. They took them out at the same time as my breast was removed. I tell you the lymph node removal was far worse than the breast removal as it took away all the feeling under the arm and along the arm and was extreemly painful. I feel sure that disturbing the cancer by biopsy caused the cancer cells to migrate to the lymph nodes. I had radiation with no problems so don’t worry too much about it. After being discharged i went onto supplements and acupuncture and healthy eating. I am now 75 and very healthy with a very active lifestyle.
Could you share with me how you found the practitioners to advise you on supplements etc.?
What is the best way to find out if you have breast cancer? Mammographies are dangerous and I have read that there is also the possibility of them bursting any cancer cells therefore spreading it further. Its hard to know if I should be treating cancer alternatively and which method! I have had an “uncomfortable” feeling in both breasts gradually increasing over the last year. Two doctors could not feel any lumps but there is something going on……
Linda, Mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy are the only ways to detect. The longer you wait the greater your chances of it growing and spreading to other areas. The sooner you catch it the best ER your chances of getting rid of it and surviving. I have a routine mammogram every year, this year they caught a suspicious area. I was lucky mine is DCIS stage 1, invasive and had not spread so the sooner you find out the better. I had no lump that anyone could feel on a regular exam, only found it through mammogram and ultrasound. Good luck, get in there and get that mammogram, save your self!
This is all incredible information and news to discuss with doctors too. I have a growth on my thyroid that doctors want to “small needle aspirate”. I have refused saying that if it was cancer [which i don’t think it is], but if it was, I don’t want the chance that having broken its SEAL, would cause the cancer to spread. ANSWER? They claim that such is impossible. Can I get some comments from you or your team please? Who’s right on this?
cancer clusters/cells doesn’t have a “seal”, they can spread freely to surrounding tissue. no risk of making things worse with a needle aspiration.
I decided not to have Radiation, I was to start 8/30 but my gut says no.
Your gut is a good place to start because in truth, there is no one “right way” only the way that is right for you. I was diagnosed with stage 1 grade 1 breast cancer, no node involvement in 2015 after discovering a lump in my breast. The genetic testing on the tumor came back in the “grey area” which meant chemo was on the table. My oncologist reviewed all the options and then said to me “You can opt to have chemotherapy and radiation, or just radiation or you could do nothing more than surgery. We are still going to follow you. You won’t be abandoned.” I was so grateful for those words. I had two surgeries. I decided against chemo but I did do radiation. No regrets. Do not let anyone tell you what is right for you and don’t be intimidated by anyone who thinks they know better.
Hello,
Thanks for the info.
I just read that no radio or chemo is mandatory.
My mother has breast cancer and its spreading. All my Dr friends are telling me to take radio or chemo. And my relatives suggest not to take both.
Can anyone please help me?
Regards,
Sandeep
Sandeep,
We wish your mother all the best! The best advice we can give you is to consult with one of the doctors/experts that we interviewed in our Global Quest Series. Here is a link to get their information: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/experts-info-sheet/
Wendy you are brave. I did what they told me. The diagnosis was scary and I knew better but was afraid. My sister and my brother both went the traditional route and it was unsuccessful. So I am trying to change and go organic and juicing. There are alternatives but they are time consuming and it is difficult to get it all together and do it all at the same time. I have not been successful in finding a holistic follower to advise me. It is difficult due to self doubt. I do what I can. My family would just like me to go back to my same old life. I cannot do that because I am different now. Anyone with information on holistic practitioners please send to me.
Hi Janet,
The best advice we can give you is to consult with one of the doctors/experts that we interviewed in our Global Quest Series. Here is a link to get their information: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/experts-info-sheet/
I read all of these personal stories about conventional medicines money making so-called cancer treatments, that put the patient through misery, their family in the poor house, and then they die anyway. It makes me angry. You have to become involved and educate yourself. There are four things that you must do to beat any cancer. You have cancer because you are sick, not, you are sick because you have cancer. The following things are center pieces for all natural cancer treatments. 1) Eat an alkaline diet high in raw veggies of all kinds, also eat lots of berries. Make sure there are plenty of carrots. Juicing raw veggies, fruits and berries (heavy on the veggies) is almost a necessity if you want to flood the body with nutrients you need. 2) Detoxify the body. The liver and kidneys take an awful beating from the cancer itself and the high levels of lactic acid it produces. Dead cancer cells overwhelm the liver, especially if you’ve undergone chemo or radiation. If you have had chemo and radiation, the liver also has to metabolize these poisons.Detoxify by taking chlorophyll heavy greens, and also with such as milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid, selenium combination and with N-acetyl cysteine. One of the most popular ways to detoxify the liver over the years has been with coffee enemas, which was still listed in the Merck Manual until the early seventies.Detoxification is very important. There are a number of other body detoxifiers on the market. 3) Take enzymes, especially proteo-lytic enzymes. Once you cook food the enzymes, being proteins, are destroyed. There is an enzyme supplement on the market if you can afford it called Wobenzyme. Other wise eat lots of pineapple which has bromelain or papaya which has papain. 4) Supplement to boost your immune system. The importance of this cannot be overstated. If you have had chemo or radiation, your immune system has been destroyed. One very good product, though rather expensive, is called AHCC (active hexose correlated compound), It causes an increase in NK cell acitivity. NK cells target tumors and viruses. There are many medicinal mushroom products that cause this activation. Reishi, maitake, shiitake, coreolus, agaricus blazei and others are all cancer fighters. Vitamin D (always take with vitamin K) is another great immune booster and cancer fighter.
N-acetyl cysteine is a precursor of cysteine, which is an excitotoxin. Cysteine excites the brain less intensively than aspartate or glutamate, but for a longer time. Excitotoxins kill brain cells. So, in general, don’t use NAC unless your cysteine levels have been checked and found to be low. In the case of AIDS, we can assume the cysteine has been reduced by longstanding action against the virus, and it makes sense to supplement NAC, even without a test.
I was lucky that I had good symptoms of my Lymphoma as I was acutely anaemic and had 6 sessions of Bendamustine chemo followed by Rituximab. This brought my red blood count back to normal again. Also, my cancer was just in the bone marrow and not in any glands, liver or thyroid which are all part of the Lymphatic system. Radiation was not on the radar as no lumps, so I have been having bi-monthly Retuximab injections to keep me in a good stable condition.
When my parents found out about my brain tumor in February 1963 , I did not know a word in English, nor did I know what was happening to me. It took a trip to the Sick Children’s Hospital and another trip to the Princess Margaret Hospital (both in Toronto, Ontario) before I received a cobalt 60 radiation treatment.
I decided not to have radiation, I can’t radiate something that may not exist anymore.
I was diagnosed with a lump, the size smaller than a dim, in my left breast. The radiologist took me in the office and began to tell me that after the surgery they would point the radiation beam at the exact place the lump was found and they would shoot the radiation for 30 minute a day two days a week for 6 weeks. I asked him what kind of damage would this do to the rest of my body? He said None. You might have a small sunburn at the area but we will give you some cream to apply there. Then he said, I know your friends have told you horror stories but they lied to you. I thought, you don’t even know my friends, their all Christians and not allowed to lie. After that I looked at him and asked him, Do you see this face and he said yes, I said you better remember it because you will not see it anymore and I left. I went to a nutritionist and she helped me change what I was eating, strengthen my immune system and thyroid and the other lumps in my body that he did not know about shrank and went away. That was 4 years ago. I am alive and well, full of life.
Hi Jadwiga,
It’s wonderful to hear you are doing well. My chemo was finished on September 24, 2015. I had 6 rounds but refused radiation. So far so good and I’m feeling remarkable in spite of it all. I count my blessings every day.
All the best and God bless to you too!
My mother, 82, has had 3 tumors removed. 2 estrogen positive, 1…the smallest 1cm, triple negative. did radical modified mastectomy of left breast. We refused chemo….at 82, with other issues, I could not understand how they recommended. 2nd opinion oncologist actually agreed with me…stated that if it were his mom, he would decline also. now…onto radiation. I have given my mom a series of dietary objectives, smoothie with ginger root and various other natural and organic additions. She drinks religiously. Overall good health, but does have heart valve disease as well as AFIB issues. I want her to refuse, but she is convinced that if she does not do anything she will die. We will do the hormone therapy since what is in her lymps are estrogen positive….but I wish I could convince her not to do radiation.
Beating cancer is not easy, but it can be done. Forget radiation and chemotherapy. These are not cures, but represent health hazards. Diet is the key. I recommend that cancer victims check out the work of Dr. Kristine Nolfi, a Danish physician who cured herself of breast cancer. Keeping your body in an alkaline condition is the solution. Eat plenty of raw (and organic) fresh fruits and vegetables. Do include lots of freshly-squeezed juices, especially carrot juice. They must be consumed immediately. This will be a big help.
My former husband a heavy drinker and smoker, with issues from childhood and ex army , lover of smoked foods and salted fish now has throat cancer, he had 2 strokes in last six years and a faulty heart valve , the strokes affected his sight and hisbrain gets confused, he also has very bad dexterity in his hands , army trigger probs I think However he is now started radio therapy , scared and a little clostrophobic. Staff are wonderful he was formally a pretty big man now weighs 9 stone just. This is at the start of treatment !!! He has a peg for feeding and has been on a pureed diet for the last month he has been advised not to have acid drinks like orange or fruit juice he has yogurts and told he can progress to milk drinking , what would you advise I take him as an aid to therapy to late now to change his mind
Because he has carers who are not allocated very much time , the food i cook for him is microwaved at meal times and has been for the last 3 years I feel having read comments now that this has contributed to his risk should we advise care providers ?
Peace and quiet , something lovely to think of , a view of nature at its best , bird song, gentle wind rustles , sound of water ,all natural all soothing all calm . That helps all illness whatever the cause try being appreciative of the things in life that don’t worry anyone and are a beautiful in any world . Money cannot buy peace of mind nature provides it just take time and look at the truly healing world we have.
My son just bought one and markets them, so we have one in our household! That is great news..and yes, giving out jugs of water is a regularity here 🙂 What type of PH testing tape would you suggest? I didn’t find that the strips were very accurate for me. Thanks!
Using Essiac?
I’ve read (via actual research studies) that it can be beneficial but NOT if you have PR+/ER+ cancer (hormone positive) Essiac can fuel those hormones, leading to recurrence.
Is there anywhere I can get more information re this? I have PR+/ER+ BC and have been having Essiac tea for nearly 6 months!
Anne Therese,
I have changed my previous way of eating to only eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and water. I eat no animal products, no processed foods and no sugar. I have used a lot of the food and supplement recommendations given on TTAC that specifically target breast cancer, keep my body alkaline and regularly visit a holistic doctor who is also a nutritionist and checks blood for cancer. She has helped many people cure their cancers. My regular doctor shakes his head but can see that I’m determined to follow this route. I will not have a mammogram again because it didn’t detect the cancer in the first place and I believe that it can cause cancer. I am exercising a lot of faith in my chosen path.
Yesterday, I had my blood checked again from my holistic doctor. She said my blood is very clean, looks excellent and has no cancer in it. I purposely took off a lot of weight after my second cancer and it definitely improved my overall general health. Now, with my new way of eating I physically feel great. I have no plans to ever have the recommended radiation or mastectomy.
I have learned from reading of others experiences, that if I return to my previous way of eating, there is a good chance that the cancer will return. I plan to follow my new regimen for the rest of my life.
Consider a similar plan to what I have chosen and see if it makes you feel better physically and emotionally.
Best wishes!
Naomi
Hi Ann Therese, I’m really interested in what you are doing. Could you tell me more please. How could I get a holistic practitioner? Thanks a lot. Barbara
I had two thermograms three mos. apart and each one said “low risk” even though I felt a lump and now have 3centimeter lump and one lymph node involved. thermograms can be as wrong as mammograms. BEWARE!!!
I wish I had the information about chemotherapy and radiation therapy before I went through with it for my uterine cancer. Chemotherapy has wrecked my immune system, energy level is at half, and now 2 years later, I’ve got cancer in the cervix. The radiation therapy for that is inside the vaginal cavity in the hospital, which burns the inside, unbelievable, I’m not doing that. But yes the MD don’t care about you if you don’t do the therapy prescribed. I rather take my chances , than to suffer the side effects. MD only write prescriptions and that’s it, they are useless to me.

I have just had a lumpectomy and lymph node removed after 11mm Invasive Ductal Carsenoma stage 1-2 was discovered four months ago.
They found no cancer cells in surrounding tissue or node so i was relieved but then they said , next action will be 5 weeks of radiation, and because its hormone receptor positive Estrogen and progesterone and Her2 a Protein targeting chemo type drug was necessary WITH chemo to compliment the new treatment.
So, I may as well be full of cancer?? Is this normal Prevention action? 38 Australia
Glad to hear your cancer free , I craved ice when I found I had stag2 rectal cancer and anemic . I did the first round of chemo and refused 2nd round there is no doubt in my mind that I would not survive .you are right its the chemo that kills us
“anger or hurt” causes a lot of stress, which can in turn put more strain than necessary on the heart. “feelings”, however, do not cause cancer.
TTAC and the information made available to us is the reason my wife is alive. For this I am forever grateful. Her first diagnosis concluded she had stage four Cervical cancer reaching the lympha line and would have only three months maximum to live. A Family member sent us the TTAC videos, which after viewing prompted us to take immediate action. She started following a baking soda protocol and drinking Essiac Tea. She is also now taking B17 and Curcumin. These steps along with drinking Kangen alkaline ionized water religiously have resulted in a cancer that was once deadly, to one that can’t be seen or detected on either PET or CT scans. Blood tests are also showing zero markers.
Like so many people, my wife didn’t have this information when first diagnosed. She accepted her doctors recommendation and went through a thirty one day radiation treatment program. Today almost one year after those treatments she is suffering pain that we can’t find a remedy for. The only information her doctors have to offer is that her cancer (which tests can’t show any trace of) is not moving and hasn’t metastasized. Could her pain be the result of severe nerve damage and enzyme depletion from the radiation. If so what is the best course of action? Any solid information will be deeply appreciated and could save a life.
P.S. I Hope I have the fortune some day to meet Ty Bollinger, to say thank you

Dear Dario; Please listen to the advice of these professionals, and also your wife may have had some trauma happen to her in her mid teens. This experience may need her complete Forgiveness to assist her in her healing process. I have seen pain lessen and also disappear through deep heart felt forgiveness. Both people are to be Forgiven for the process to be complete.

My mother has been diagnosed with cancer and is looking at undergoing radiation treatment. At this point, it seems to be the best decision for her and her health. As you said, going into treatment it’s okay to ask questions to understand what will be happening. Thanks for the information on cancer treatment!

I am getting ready to undergo radiation therapy for a recurrence of liposarcoma. I have a solitary kidney, and the treatments are going to be done on the same side as my kidney. Nervous, but trust my team of doctors, sarcomas are tricky, and since this is a recurrence that’s switched sides of my body, it’s become rogue, and aggressive, so along with a plant based diet, some amazing FECO, and a positive attitude, I’m going into it with the thought that my doctors will, and are doing everything to protect my solitary kidney, and remove these stubborn tumors with the best long term success. I’ve asked all the questions, I’ve done all the research, I think I’m doing what’s best for me, getting rid of this beast once and for all!
Not sure if this is acceptable but you have what my husband has right down to one kidney. Chemo was not effective and they are now starting radiation. Please please please let me know how everything went for you and how you are doing. You are the first person that i have found that has a sarcoma lije his. His is very aggressive. .
You sound just like my husband. He has a reoccurant sarcoma and one kidney. Chemo was not effective. Radiation is being mapped next week. I have never found anyone going through a sarcoma. Please let me know how its going.
I’d strongly urge anyone influenced by this article to follow the link under references to the actual research papers, as what is summarised here is tainted by opinion and not exactly what the research says. This is a common problem when scientific research is misinterpreted by readers. The actual research concludes with “Dr. Pajonk says the study does not discredit radiation therapy. “Patients come to me scared by the idea that radiation generates these cells, but it truly is the safest and most effective therapy there is.”
Thanks for the feedback Andrew.
Hi
My stage for breast cancer is 0. But I need 5/6 weeks radiotherapy. I am very worried for doing the same. Before surgery I suggested to my doctor for mastectomy, but he didn’t accept it.
Now I am ready for second surgery to remove my right breast to avoid radiotherapy.
Please help me in this regard and let me know your opinion.
Best Regards,
Effat

hi thanks for the informationr
2 moths ago my brother was diagnosed with Oral Cancer, he had tumor on his gum. He had to be operated and the upper jaw was removed. He was supposed to start with Chemo, however we the jaw that was removed was taken in for testing. I am very skeptical on the Chemo and don’t know if I’m being irrational. I have seen what Chemo can do to a person and I don’t want my brother to go through that, its painful to the patient and to the family as well. Please advise.

Please advise me .they said from the MRI there are more shadows in the scan. Lump in my breath, cancer in Lungs. Please help me
My husband has a de differentiated sarcoma. Did 3 cycles of Chemo. All it did was grow to twice the size in 9 weeks. From 3 inches to 6 inches. It is not operable at this stsge. Next they are recommending radiation.. Not sure what to expect or what the right direction to take or how its monitored to see if its working. What should we know.

Hi
My name is Veronica & I had a hysterectomy on the 26/09/2018.The results from the histology report reads:Within the cervix,an extensively infiltrating poorly differentiated squamous carcinoma is present. The tumour permeates 50% of the thickness of the cervix.Extensive ulceration present.Distinct lymphovascular invasion not identified.Associated inflammatory changes present. The tumour does not involve the adventitial surface of the resected specimen. The ectocervical surgical excision margins appear to be clear of neoplasm. The endometrium consists of a secretory phase endometrium. Some micropolyps are present but there is no evidence of atypia. Within the myometrium fairly extensive adenomyosis is present.
I have been to an Oncologist that wants to start radiation on Monday already & I feel if the tumor was removed why do I need radiation. Please advise.
I would recommend changing the wording of “wife” to “spouse” or “partner” in this article. “Wife” is extremely biased. All but 1 of the 4 doctors on my team are female.
Hi Barbs,
Thanks for the feedback.
I just had a lumpectomy and radiation and anastrozol are what’s to come And I don’t want to do either
Please help me

Jean, I was wondering what you decided to do. I had the same thing about the same
time
Hi Jean & Connie,
I, too, am going through the same. This is my third lumpectomy (2008, 2015 and 12/2018). Previously I declined radiation and declined traditional hormone therapy. I changed diet, did alternation hormone suppressing things and felt great. But here I am again. 62 now and worried about going through this again and again. Estrogen positive type. I had surgery 12/5/18. Going for “mapping” for radiation tomorrow. I am SO unsure about doing this. What have you decided to do?
Thanks,
Dianne
Hi Dianne,
I have been tortured by the decision of radiation therapy and traditional hormone therapy as well. I had a lumpectomy 2 and half months ago and declined tamoxifen or similar, I have also kept on postponing radiation since then. I have had major fears about the fact that some doctors say that one can have cancer cells left behind in your breast after the surgery that could go into your blood stream and other parts of your body, or that they could do another tumor that could be more aggressive than the previous one. What do you know about this? and from where? how did you end up feeling comfortable doing three lumpectomy without radiation ? by the way mine was stage 1, 5 mm tumor hormone positive and they say the lowest aggressive i think grade 1.. Could you also please let me know what you did about suppressing your estrogen? any knowledge you have about this would greatly help ! thank you so much! Michelle
Hi Michelle, to suppress your estrogen eat Brussels sprouts and broccoli. A good supplement to suppress the bad estriol is I3C w/DIM
You can purchase it at InviteHealth .., Item# HIC0021. Should be taken with Vitamin C
I have stage 1 breast cancer too….estrogen positive and slow growing. Diagnosed March 7 2019…..I’m gonna do this naturally. Just searching for other women with similar diagnosis that have cured naturally.
My story is identical to yours. I did have a lumpectomy but after doing research, I refused radiation or tamoxifen . It’s been 7 years since they told me I would die. I take 3 D.I.M daily and iodoral. Fortunately I had a naturopathic doctor tell me to ask the radiologist what my percentage of recurrence would be with and without the radiation and it only went from 15% to 10%. I’m so glad I didn’t do it. Stay away from sugar and eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables .
Hi Dianna,
I hope you got my message. Very new on this website so not too sure if my message was posted.
Basically I am 54 had lumpectomy almost three months ago, 5 mm tumor stage 1, grade 1, best margins super clear. I don’t like the idea of radiation and will absolutely not do HT.
If i knew three months ago what i know today, i would probably go for a mastectomy right away. My choice was mastectomy or lumpectomy with radiation. Now i have one fear is that maybe there is or was some cancers cells left behind and i am not sure of what that could mean. If i knew that the worst that was going to happen was that it could start something again in my breast then i would just wait and if so address it then, but what if it could do more than last time… doctors says extremely unlikely..your story shows that as well, but do you know anything that you could share with me?Thank you!!!!
Hi Dianna. I first went to UNC CH cancer center for consult. What a traumatizing experience. After less than 5 min. the surgeon spurted out- modified radical mastectomy, radiation and be put on letrozole for 10 years. The standard, (new Porsche) answer. I got a second opinion. I agreed to take the damn evil drug letrozole to shrink the tumor. I then had a lumpectomy. Clear margins, BUT they urged me to have radiation which I said no to. I continued to take letrozole (total 1 year) I stopped it because it was killing me. If I continued I would be dead way before now as I was ready to kill myself. My oncologist said I am really gambling with the decisions I have made.
So, what do us disease ridden/ managers do- we have to what you feel is best. I am choosing quality of life over I DON’T know how long I have. Yep it sucks bad. I stress everyday about it. My surgery was about 3 years ago. Have not passed the “free pass” five year mark yet. (How long it takes for tumors to be big enough to be detected ,usually for some cancers anyway.)
I take lots of supps, do essential oils, Noni juice too.
I hate it and am tired of “just be positive and you will be fine” comments.
Enjoy every day, that is all I can say.
Hi Jean & Connor,
I had stage one estrogen/progesterone positive, 0.7 cm at it’s widest point tumor, on the left breast on inner bottom quadrant, which is right by the heart. They say the best to recover from using traditional therapies like radiation. Had lumpectomy back in November 2017. Refused radiation, refused tamoxifen ., changed diet, lost 23 pounds. Still eat things that I crave sometimes. The doctors made me feel as if I was making a horrible choice but even with the pinpoint radiation they have now, the doctor admitted that some radiation might make it to my heart ., he didn’t “think” it would make it to the lungs. So, it is a hard choice to make. Last October 2018 agreed to have a cat scan with contrast (but have been told they are not good to take) and was clean, thank God but yes, it is s constant thought and uneasiness in the back of your mind. I think everyone’s is different and you have to analyze what was occurring in your life, how did you eat, was there history in your family etc. I believe if you can work on your diet as you work on your mindset, that is the key. Eating Healthy, Staying active through excercise, dance or sport, Prayer, staying positive and meditating to relax yourself are key. There are many many testimonials of people who have NOT gone the traditional route and were in later stages that have recovered and many years later, never had a recurrence and they all did it through a combination of some or all of the following .., prayer, meditation (positive feedback), diet, supplementation and excercise. There are many who HAVE gone the traditional route and they have had recurrences and not done well. The mind is an important factor. I know with me a great deal of it can be attributed to traumatic and stressful events that I endured over a 7 year period, my diet was not great and my state of mind was not good ., was very depressed. I work on all of it now. Let me know what you guys chose to do. My God bless you and keep you through your healing. M
Yes..this is what I am doing after having been diagnosed with prostate cancer. daily prayer, regular exercise every morning, observe to eat fruits and vegetables, drink lemon with hot water every early morning, and take Vitamin D supplements, and multivitamins ..Hopefully, with God’s grace, I will be victorious in my battle against the Big C.
Hi
I recently had surgery to remove an aggressive form of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, during the op my surgeon also removed 2 lymphnodes that were showing signs of tumors, they now want to proceed with 5 weeks radiation therapy to kill of any cancerous cells left behind to limit the chance re-occurance, however reading your guide above I asked several of the questions to the oncologist and he answered them very truthfully which basically left me with a massive dilemma ‘do I don’t I’
The main risk if I don’t is the potential spreading to other lymphnodes elsewhere in the body which can turn into a bigger problem elsewhere, reading your guide you say that can happen also with radiation therapy, I just don’t what to do? which regret to live with is better if the worst scenario happens.
Do you or anyone have any advice or personal experience to share? Not make my decision for me but to give any insight of how to get to a decision I can live with.

My dad has the same cancer. Took radiation now it has come back almost 9 months later near wind pipe.
I am skeptical about doc stating 30 days of chemo with no rest in between for a man in 80’s.
My question to you is : what treatment have u taken since this letter if any?
Don’t let your father have it it will kill him my grandson who was only 31 years old had this treament and it kill him
Tee, This is just my personal opinion of course, but that sounds like an excessive amount of chemo for such an elderly man. I just don’t trust chemo and don’t know if I would do it for myself. Does your father want to do it? Is he healthy otherwise? I’m just wondering if this could make his last days miserable. It seems like a desperate shot by the doctors with not a lot of hope, but I could be wrong, of course. Possibly try Essiac tea – must have sheep sorrel roots in it or Red clover tea (book “Back to Eden” by Jethro Kloss, under cancer treatment). There is no guarantee that will help but sometimes they do, and at least he won’t be tortured by chemo at such an elderly age.
Chris, I have a similar Cancer Tonsil and lymph nodes Listen carefully to your oncologist! He/she and your team just may save your life!
Yes the radiotherapy and chemo will give you mouth sores and a dry mouth/throat. There are treatments for that. You may require a feeding tube to assist with nutrition. This will be put in during day surgery into your stomach or you may opt for a Nasal Gastric tube if your mouth and throat become to painful to eat. It will begin to clear up a few weeks after treatment ends.
You may lose some weight but will put it back on as you begin to eat more. treatment usually goes for 7 weeks. Radiation each day for around 20 minutes and chemo Cisplatin or carboplatin once weekly.
Do the radiotherapy and the chemo, yes it’s a tough regime to go through but you will come out the other side. You will be a changed person but Cancer does that to all of us, you will be alive and a good chance of being NED (No evidence of disease)
It will take you 6 months to a year to recover fully and be back to your almost normal self. it’s worth it so follow their advice and take the treatment.
David,
Can we talk? I’m on day 10 of radiation of 33 treatments. I had a tonsillectomy and one lymph node removed. Only one tonsil had cancer and one lymph node. They said I’m cancer free and no chemo just radiation. Right now my mouth looks like bomb went off inside.
Any advice.

Hi my husband just finished 33 treatments of radiation.does he follow up with his dr to see if the tumor has shrunk?
Hi I had a tumor in my salivary gland (mucoepidermoid carcenoma) in 1991 and it was malignant. I was opted for radiation treatments immediately after having the tumor removed. I went and had radiation and as a result my jaw developed necrosis just 5 years later. So I had to get jaw reconstruction and the surgery was major. Today I am suffering from the radiation treatment. I’ve lost a lot of my teeth. I was a person who loved the dentist, I wore braces and took care of my teeth. That’s not happening today and I have been through hyperbaric treatments as well before I was even able to have surgery. I am experiencing sadness, depression, and even anxiety. I am very spiritual and have to say it does keep me through most of my bouts of sadness. Thank God the tumor has not returned but I honestly say that If I had even known this was something in my future I would NOT have agreed to radiation. I mean the tumor did not cause this horrific result in my life it was the treatment. I now have to have to go for more hyperbaric treatments before any oral surgeon would even extract my teeth. I want implants of course because I’m still alive and want teeth in my mouth. If I had to do it again I would rather Pray and deal with what ever the Lord has in store for me which is what I live for today. I’ve been fairly shy most of life so now this new onset in my life makes me isolated in my own skin. However I have such supportive people in my life (family/friends) which makes my everyday life easier. But at the end of the day it’s me who has to deal with these personal hardships. I strive for positive energy 24/7. It’s such a foreign experience because I’m now discovering that dentists are a business and not genuine doctors per say and they immediately will let you know “sorry but we don’t take insurance” or they direct you to the financial advisors before you’re even seen. In other words just file bankruptcy. Medical bills, personal hardships and everything else is just a small part of what I’m having to deal with today. I am still employed and have to keep a roof over my head and bills to pay. So now I have to deal with these never ending challenges as a result of the radiation treatment I received. I mean people can’t even deal with way lessor things. It’s hard to find doctors who take insurances. I sometimes feel so lost. 🙁 Trying to stay positive :).
I would like to add that when I was going through my radiation treatments I lost so much weight because I couldn’t eat nor drink. I had to gulp down royal jelly to keep me alive. It was a nightmare. I would not wish that experience on anyone. I am eagerly considering early retirement so that I can enjoy some quality time with my family. 🙂 If it were up to me I wouldn’t go see a doctor.

I fell in hospital when I went to check pain in my neck, could not get up.
Discovered prostate cancer Mets to bone and spine. Had 5 shots radiation on spine which stopped the pain. That was 5 years ago, no pain since.
Reading your comments is heart breaking…….. We all have someone in our families with cancer.
My humble opinion PLEASE, first, Pray for Wisdom and peace, take your time cancer takes years, some times decades to be discover. Get inform do not let fear run to the first Oncologist… take a month off and get educated. Nutrition plays a big part on beating cancer… my brother doesn’t want to change his eating habits so decided for Chemo, what the oncologist told him… cancer returned after 3 years… In my crazy mind he was misdiagnose the first time…. due to so much chemo im sure he does have cancer now. Its hard when you own family do not want to listen, im sure fear plays a big role…Sites like this one are wonderful God sent information….. google: Chris beat cancer Square one….. The best for all and know that keeping everyone who suffers in prayers is an important step:) Alice
Alice,
As a cancer fighter, I loved your comments and say a hearty Amen to them! Yes, seek wisdom BEFORE you make a decision and then weigh pros and cons of each. Each person has to choose what he or she feels is best for them. You usually have time to make an informed decision and not one based solely on fear.
I wrote a book about my own journey that started in 2012 with stage 3 ovarian cancer and continues to this day. I just added in a targeted treatment that resembles immunotherapy along with my alternative protocol that I’ve used from day one. God is using it to keep me alive without destroying my body. I highly recommend consulting Cancer Treatment Centers of America–they have been a wonderful help for me. I also wrote a book in 2017 to help others with the info I was learning from my research and consulting with natural practitioners. “Hope, Living with Cancer” is the title. I pray it helps many people who struggle with all the decisions and fear that comes with a cancer diagnosis. And I also love Chris Beat Cancer as well!
I have stage IV colon cancer that has now suddenly reappeared in the form of a 8cm growth pressing on my T12 and L1. I have been taking iv Vit.C and mistletoe extract for about 4 years and feeling great until all this pain from my sciatic nerve. I have beating the alternative treatment drum for more than 4 years which has likely slowed the progression of the mass. However after consulting with family Dr and my Naturaurpath Dr. I was advised to go for radiation which did shrink the mass away from my spine. My point is some common ground to help cancer patients decide on treatments. Simply telling patients to avoid any treatment unless it is alternative or conventional cancer treatment is not the answer. This attitude of criticism of vertually all treatments does not help the person trying to manage his cancer.

Thank you for your information. My son had surgery last year for a large acoustic neuroma. This is a non-cancerous brain tumor. Due to his age, 24, and the size of the tumor, the doctor recommended gamma knife radiation. I’ve done so much research on his condition and on the treatments for it. I have found so much information for cancers, but nothing for alternative treatments for non-cancerous tumors. He uses CBD and eats healthy. He had the gamma knife 3 weeks ago. We were told it is completely different than whole body, or whole brain radiation, that it is pinpointed to the exact location of his tumor.
Do you have any information on the effects of this kind of radiation on non-cancerous tumors. The effectiveness? The downside? Information on alternative treatments?
Thank you
Hi Sandy –

What about proton beam therapy? A safer delivery when it is targeted straight for the tumor. Your article does not mention radiation proton beam therapy.
Of course insurance does not cover it.
Everyone reacts differently to treatment, for my husband who has lung cancer, he responded really well with Chemotherapy, the tumour all but shrunk, he was recommended radiation , he only just finished his last treatment. I don’t know if it causes more cancer, all I can say is the big tumour is gone and the radiation treatment targeted just the area where the cancer cells are left, not the entire area like they used to do…..so we’ll see what happens, we trust our oncologist who explains everything and who’s not offended when we ask questions and she lets us know what new and available.
Can people around a person being treated for colon cancer with radiation treatments get radiation poisoning ?

You should ask them if they checked if your cancerous cells have these “heat shock proteins” otherwise radiation therapy will be useless!
I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer, stage 3 (2.8cm). For various reasons, I accepted to have chemo but after 2 session, and a lot of research (thank you so much for all your information which contributed so much to my way of thinking), managed to convince my oncologist to no more chemo of any time. I agree to have the lumpectomy but then she insisted that I should have radiotherapy for 3 weeks (every day) afterwards because of the nature of my cancer and my age (65). Otherwise, she said my only option is a mastectomy which I don’t want. So I would be grateful for your comments on this type of cancer and radiotherapy. Many thanks.
